I am more emotionally involved in some other games and would put them on my favorite games list before Dark sould (with Braid being the no1) but Dark souls is in my opinion best game ever made. Its such a disturbed gritty world not this kiddie stuff that western companies go for the past few years.

Equip the spider shield (and don't ever lower it!), move slow and keep track of what's running above and below you by listening really carefully. If you're careful blighttown isn't nearly as difficult as people make it out to be. The horrid framerate is actually your biggest enemy here. If you don't have the spider shield, good luck!

I know it's how I felt during my first ten hours with the game. I don't think I had a decent grasp on the game until I managed to kick the Capra Demon's ass on my fourth try. That boss pretty much requires you to apply every skill the game requires: think fast, act fast, move smart, prioritise and develop a kind of zen mindset to overcome the moments of frustration this game will cause due to sometimes repeated cheap deaths.

In case someone else needs help with setting up the online portion. Someone in chat just mentioned that it might kill your offline progress so make sure to backup savegames just in case.

But, then i kept going further down, and met Ceaseless. Just tried killing him for what seemed like an hour, got nowhere. So im taking a break, grabbin some food and stuff. At least i made some progress tho, but i think i have to hoof it back to berg and go do some Forest shit, cause man, i cannot fucking kill Ceaseless, either 1 shots me with the explosion, or i miss time roll and die anyways haha. Edit: i don't think i will be messing with online, ive already wasted too much time troubleshooting GFWL, and im enjoying the game a lot right now, and don't want to risk anything. Also, i just don't wanna mess around with this shit lol just wanna play.

Of course you can go anywhere, but there is a general order of difficulty that is good to follow on the first playthrough. Ya, when i saw the cutscene for the gate opening i was like "okay, i know where that is, i should probably do that now". But then i kept walking around, and i just kept going deeper and deeper lol until i lit the bonfire. When i lit that bonfire i was like, fuck, i think that was a mistake. The problem was that i saw the gate open, and said "wow thats so fucking far from where i am now, they cant expect me to walk ALL THE WAY BACK up that spot right now", i figured there was maybe an elevator, or more caves to go through before returning. Oh well, good learning experience lol, now i gotta walk for like 30 mins to get back up there.

There is a shorter way to get back that doesn't involve backtracking all the way through Blighttown and Depths. It's close to the bonfire in the swamp.
