I think things like Drake Sword are actually a newbie trap. If you pick it up you don't get the right concept of how to upgrade your character or weapons to make him effective so when the Drake Sword stops being good it can leave people in a tough spot.

Try MotionInJoy? You just need it to emulate a 360 controller in the MotionInJoy app (even though it's already a 360 controller). Might help.

Tried motionjoy too. The controller is a logitech F710 which people were having no problem with for dark souls. When i access GFWL from the game, it recognizes that im using a controller and i can browse through GFWL with the controller completely fine, then it just doesnt work at all as soon as it goes in game. Tried unplugging and disabling mouse too (cant disable keyboard on this laptop)

Try Xpadder perhaps? Since it can do keyboard/mouse emulation I believe.

Bought it a couple of days ago and have been loving it. Still pretty early in the game, I just beat that metal boar thing. Only complaint really is some areas where I get really bad framerate drops but I hear this is pretty common...kinda annoying. Also felt like a complete moron trying to play the first couple hours wearing a full suit of armor, never paid attention to weight. Was wondering why I couldn't dodge worth a shit. Also loving the melee combat, even if it is a bit unforgiving.

Thought this should do the trick. Works on notepad all nice and dandy then i go in game and darksoul just shuts off all input from my controller or something lol. Darn.

Whatever would you need to know that for, if I may ask?
The game can be played in offline mode that I can access when my internet craps out and can't log in with GFWL so yeah, you should be able to.

Uhm any way to make this playable without a controller? Bought it thinking how bad can the port be? And... wow. The mouse sens is what gets me the most, messes everything up and not using mouse aka only keyboard is beyond awkward. Any mods that can fix the controls somewhat?

I hear the maker of DSfix made a mouse sensitivity tweak as well (DSMfix?), but I went ahead and bought a controller. I'll probably only ever use it for Dark Souls, but it's still worth it.

And what would you consider "Good poise"?
The DWGR isn't mandatory at all, you just need some slight roll timing instead of spamming it.

Just one day of PvP exp so take it with a grain of salt (no pun intended), but I think poise is much more important, especially given the lag that occurs. DWGR ends up taking too much of an investment.

I used to get ~55 poise for my PvP characters (pretty much all of them are <25% but seeing as I rarely get hit I don't bother anymore. I don't think DWGR is that special anyway, waste of a ring slot if I'm honest.
