The game can be played in offline mode that I can access when my internet craps out and can't log in with GFWL so yeah, you should be able to.

The mouse sens is what gets me the most, messes everything up and not using mouse aka only keyboard is beyond awkward. Any mods that can fix the controls somewhat? I hear the maker of DSfix made a mouse sensitivity tweak as well (DSMfix?), but I went ahead and bought a controller. I'll probably only ever use it for Dark Souls, but it's still worth it.

And what would you consider "Good poise"? The DWGR isn't mandatory at all, you just need some slight roll timing instead of spamming it.

Just one day of PvP exp so take it with a grain of salt (no pun intended), but I think poise is much more important, especially given the lag that occurs. DWGR ends up taking too much of an investment.
