Hunters with pets, necromancers with minions, warriors that tank, rangers that dps. Very refreshing.
You do NOT "spam" your keys.
Ummm yes. I've watched people do instances and they pretty much spam the shit out of their nukes and stuff.
There are no "quests" in Guild Wars 2. You go where ever you want, encounter a dynamic event, participate in it and you'll be rewarded based on your participation.
That's a quest... Are you that easily fooled that just because they changed the quest-giver from a person to a shroom on the ground/cow on a farm/whatever you don't think it's a quest anymore?
The instances does not work the same way instances work in other MMO.
What's the difference, except everyone can do them because levels don't matter? I just watched a dungeon run and it was EXACTLY the same as in every other game, except it seemed easier.
Last but not least, if I told you that there are no "roles" in Guild Wars 2, I'd be lying, so I'm afraid that I'll have to say, that there are no "roles" in Guild Wars 2. No classes heal one another, and if you had minimal knowledge about the original game, you'd know that you don't "tank" either.
Except some are better at healing, and some better at dealing damage... Yes you can stand there like an idiot nuking a mob down with your healer, but that just means you suck, not that the game doesn't have roles.

Okay im thinking about preordering aswell. It says you get access to all weekend beta events. What does that mean? Are the beta servers only opened on some weekends in general? Or do they mean preorderes get some kind of cut-beta?

Sure you're not happy with it, but no need to be so aggressive in this Gw2 guild thread.

Nothing. Haven't played an mmo since Rift (which sucked). This seems to be the exact same game.
Sure, but I didn't find a thread that is just for the game. Sorry if it's the wrong thread to discuss the game.

There are no traditional roles in this game; everyone tanks, everyone heals and everyone does damage... at the same time. There aren't even any mechanics for keeping aggro, and everyone has a mild personal heal that's on a pretty long cooldown. Traditional MMO tank & spank is mechanically impossible in this game.

As for hunter pets and necromancer minions, so what? They are able to have additional units under their control, this does not make it a WoW clone. Rangers that dps - all the classes do some dps, ranger is not locked into it. This point is moot.

Yes you can stand there like an idiot nuking a mob down with your healer, but that just means you suck, not that the game doesn't have roles. Classes have all been designed with very limited healing abilities. The game is designed around preventing incoming damage (which all the classes can contribute to) instead of healing yourself. This is fundamentally different from the tank/dps/healer triad you get in any other MMO.

Your understanding of "discussion" is a bit off. You think that, with minimal knowledge of the game, you can come to this thread, tell us what the game is about, how the game is "similar" to other games and how the game mechanics work. Now, I don't have to say this, because we all know it's true, but you're absolutely wrong. Perhaps you don't agree with what we say or how the developers choose to make their game, but that does not mean that your understanding of the game is, in any way, akin to reality.
Note that this is not a conversation. I won't allow this kind of behaviour going on for more than a single page. This is not constructive discussion and you're certainly not contributing to the greater good of this thread. Choose your words carefully and we'll get a long just fine. Before you post again, I suggest that understand what you've seen so far, perhaps that'll bring you one step closer to the game. :-)

Everyone will get beta access. When, is unclear.

Apparently the first beta event after the pre-orders will be at the end of this month. Exact date to be confirmed.
From the GW2 twitter: We've got it planned for the end of this month, no firm date yet.

You'll get beta access, but they run these beta weekends, and the next one isn't this weekend. Maybe we'll be lucky and get it the weekend after that, but still I don't think they'll release the game until in July.
Too many bugs and too much tweaking to do, they'll probably have every weekend as betas for the last month, but according to their manifest they aint releasing it until it's ready.
