Right now they're working on fixing all the server issues. My guess is they'll slowly reintroduce all the features they turned off. And then they'll start looking into all the actual gameplay issues. If they fix most of those, I might buy the game.

Community College boosts industries close to them, but a University is map wide, so you don't need to place it close to your industrial zones. Your first goal is to gain control of your cash flow and fulfill the basic utilities. After that, you can do whatever you want. Since you're invested in industries and education, you should push towards electronics manufacturing. The most profitable trade during "end-game", selling TV's and Computers. whoops ![]()

Oh, the buses causes backlogs with.. themself. That explains why my public transportation card somehow blinks red and than back to normal status. Thanks! ![]() I always try to fulfill the basics, but somehow i end up with little to no profit, not a lot of residents but high ground value and optical nice buildings. It works for me to a certain point, but than something goes terrible wrong, often times considered 'little' things, and my balance goes red.

It works for me to a certain point, but than something goes terrible wrong, often times considered 'little' things, and my balance goes red. Your hourly balance or overall balance in red? Like mentioned, my hourly tick is constantly in the red (20k right now, because I have two Universities with both running researches), but overall it's actually 50kish (per hour) in the green. I'm still using the basic Police/Fire Station and Clinic, and have no issues supporting a city of 170k right now. You just have to have these support early, or you'll have a huge backlog of crime and sick people, which takes a long time to "solve".

It's gaming 2.0 - not fun, you are forced to play online, and basic functions that were available 15 years ago are suddenly gone.

Yeah, people hate that they are forced to play online, but for the most part people find the game itself fun. That alone puts it above the "complete shit" tier. And which basic functions, aside from offline play, are you talking about?

Which is why we get cars just piling into streets.

Yeah I don't really get it either...I did not expect every single sim in my 100,000 population city to behave as an individual, I don't think that's very realistic. But if the numbers that that individual represents are accurate, i.e. his wealth corresponds to where he lives, his occupation corresponds to how educated he is, and he lets me know when there are things he likes or doesn't like about this city I have built for him, I don't care that the animated dot in my city doesn't go to the same job every day. It's just not relevant to the game experience. The biggest things they need to work on right now are re-implementing the features they removed in the interest of server speed, fixing all the bugs with their engine and how it works, and (IMO) city size, as I do believe that is holding the game back quite a bit. I'm still enjoying the hell out of it, and I suppose there is an additional layer of challenge to having a smaller box to work in, but it keeps you from making the mega-metropolises that SimCity has always been famous for. I feel like, for the most part, developers should have really good reasons for moving away from the iconic things their franchises are known for.

This is a city simulation, it doesnt need this stuff. Only thing it needs is proper pathfinding, so they need to fix this, otherwise the simulation works pretty well for me. But i find the polulation indication "cheat" a bit cheap. Its like they paniced when the small maps only held 30k people and hacked it into the UI. i mean, they didnt even hide it deep in the engine, they just made the UI script multiply the numbers xD
