Max Payne 1
To me you can't really have a good ending without a good story and this criteria basically throws half the games on the Guinness list right out the window.
Exactly my opinion. Most games I don't really immerse myself into, but games like WarCraft 3 and Max Payne were so well written and fun that I really was emotionally connected.
I remember, after finishing Max Payne 1, being depressed for like days, thinking about those haunting HAUNTING nightmare sequences. My god, I highly doubt the third one will live up to previous two.
For me this has to be the scene in Knights of the old republic where you find out you are Revan hands down. The thing which makes a cinematic good is the charecters and story, not technical flashy brilliance.

Because of that, and so many good memories of Final Fantasy IX, this gotta be my absolute favorite. Really showcasing what a genious Nobuo Uematsu really is :
OMG YES! I was afraid there would be no FFIX in this thread! That game is my favorite RPG of all-time, with just so many amazing cutscenes! Gotta add another
Probably the closest to a true cinematic cutscene the SNES has to offer. Just one of many great moments in FF6, even though its only relation to the plot was getting the airship.

I like this intro. I'm pretty sure there are better intros that I have seen, but I can't think of any at the moment.
As far as ending goes, I finished Darksiders recently and I like the ending. There was something epic about it, although it wasn't some flashy battle scene or something like that.
