That's what happens when you let someone get their helmet right under your chin...
you can't blind side people like that anymore. They changed the rules like 2-3 years ago, and named it the "hines ward rule" cuz he was breaking people's bones by doing it.

That rule is bullshit. So if you wander around aimlessly staring into the air you're immune to hits? Don't look at the defender and he can't hit you?
It wasn't really a dangerous hit because he hit him square in the chest - it should be fine.

I can't even begin to count the number of times I've seen hits like that (or ones that appear even more vicious) on punt/kick coverage.
Not sure if that hit was against the new rules, we'll find out soon if any disciplinary action is required. As a receiver, you don't get the chance to lay out a defender too often, so not surprised at all Tate went for the big hit. Don't really think it was particularly necessary to that extent -even just a light push would've rendered Lee out of the play- but damn that was one hell of a block

I think the hit was legal. I only wish that they fine him so they could potentially use that money to pay the real refs. Poster this on the walls for player safety and how replacement refs danger the lives of the players.
People should be more concerned by the call the refs made. Not let the emotions carry over to a solid hit.

since when do they call that defenseless??
that is a perfect, clean block. this league is fucking dumber than ever if they're starting to call that a defenseless block
edit: definitely legal:
The blocking rule makes illegal a blindside block if it comes from the blocker's helmet, forearm or shoulder and lands to the head or neck area of the defender. One of the highlights the NFL competition committee used to portray such a block was the one Ward threw last season that broke the jaw of Cincinnati rookie linebacker Keith Rivers

that's dead in the numbers and just carries up.

How often has this happened in the last decade? Last year week 10. Seattle>Baltimore San Francisco>NY Giants Arizona>Philadelphia St Louis>Cleveland Don't really want to dig, that just comes to memory.
That's why I phrased the question that way. I know it was extremely rare in the last decade but I was pretty sure it happened recently and people made a big deal out of it then too. Twice in the last decade sounds about right, though.

I don't know, you'd think the difference would be more than 0 and 10 if you told me 3 int and 1 fumble in first quarter
