That said, Hanson hits that 99/100 times, but that's just the Lions' luck.

Alright, time to move on to bigger and better things. This Dallas/Washington game should be the best of the day.

Houston played well in overtime, but they deserved that win no more than Seattle deserved their win against Green Bay. 1. Golden Tate caught that ball. 2. Blame Jim Schwartz, not the refs. He knows the rules and threw the flag on that play like an idiot, and then called for a field goal from 47 yards on THIRD down in OT. Or calling nothing but passes when leading in the fourth (in Houston territory no less) when the Lions are getting 5 yards per carry. 3. Even with the terrible, let me emphasize TERRIBLE TD call, the Texans still came back in the fourth quarter and played lights out defense after the Lions went up 31-24. Maybe if the Lions could play a full fourth quarter for one game you can bitch about refs. If you're gonna say you have no respect for the NFL, do it because they don't give a shit about the players for making the Texans travel 1300 miles to play just four days after their last game (and they STILL won). Late edit: Why the hell couldn't they play the Colts on Thanksgiving? Much easier travel if you're gonna force a team to play a 12:30pm game four days after their last. At least it looks like the people on Twitter realize that Schwartz fucked this game up terribly.

If you're gonna say you have no respect for the NFL, do it because they don't give a shit about the players for making the Texans travel 1300 miles to play just four days after their last game (and they STILL won). There are a LOT of reasons why I don't respect the NFL, but this moment just really highlights my disdain for them. You can't just say, "Well Detroit should've just played better later." This wasn't a controversial call that went the other way and Detroit lost their cool. This was an objectively incorrect call that was only held up because of a rule that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever that actually put Houston back into the game. They were down by 10 and the momentum was clearly on Detroit's side; if they hadn't been given that touchdown, they would've had to spend a significant amount of time driving to try to get that touchdown and probably being stopped along the way (the extra time taken to drive could very well have not let them tie at the end of the game due to the clock running out). There's a good chance that Detroit wouldn't have gone 3-and-out on the ensuing drive because they wouldn't have witnessed the referees literally giving Houston free points and thus destroying momentum and morale. The momentum shift from watching a blatantly incorrect call like this that directly contributed to the Houston comeback was a travesty (to say the least), and you cannot say that Houston deserved that win. That is absolutely ridiculous. Yes, they played quite well in the 4th and overtime, but they should not have been on equal footing with the Lions (both score and momentum-wise) going into that situation. Oh, and keep lying to yourself about the Seattle win.

I'm hoping the Cowboys lose this game but I'm betting that they'll win.

You can't blame the rules (however stupid they are) when you knowingly break them. It's just ignorant. The NFL is probably gonna change the rule after the season anyway.

That's half the problem with the NFL; the entire rule scheme and how they enforce them is purely for the letter of the law. The integrity of the game doesn't matter at all to these people and that is what we lose when Houston gets free points for a pointless technicality that has no benefit (there was NO benefit for Detroit for throwing the challenge flag illegally. The play was going to be reviewed anyway, so just penalize them 15 yards and still review it. Houston was given multiple benefits for Detroit throwing the challenge flag illegally and that's not how it should be).

But until the rule is changed, you have to play the way that it is currently written.
