Granted there were alot of good games ruffling around this year, I feel Skyrim outshined 'em all. Can't wait for the the tools releasing in jan. | ||

 GOTY is incredibly subjective and an absolutely useless designation. GOTY is subjective because picks are based off of the enjoyment that you had while playing the game. Since different people enjoy different types of games, they aren't objective in their evaluation. In addition, your opinion can even change depending on when you play a game and how the structure of the game fits into your lifestyle and what you're looking for to fill your time. Furthermore, you can't choose one game as the best of the year when you have played a minuscule portion of the games released during the year. Since the majority of people only play the biggest-named releases that are hyped up, they'll choose one of those as their GOTY. GOTY is useless because unless you're living under a rock, you would have played the game or heard all about it by now. Therefore, it doesn't help anyone find a new game to play or do anything besides have fanboys argue. While a Top X (say 15) games of the year is also incredibly subjective, it has the potential to be more useful. You can ascertain the writer's subjective bias from a sample of the list and then make assumptions about the games you don't know much about on the list. Also, you can get an idea of what games he's tried and what consoles he's sampled from. The length of the list helps filter out people who have only played a handful of games: probably all big-name titles. Nevermind. Ski Region Simulator -- 2011 GOTY. No contest. | ||

singleplayer skyrim hands down no contest at all. its been ages since the last time a game sucked me in that much that i want to stop all rl stuff and just play play play. and it does that while beeing fun all the time. portal2 was grreat but just cant compete with the giant "here we have a giant fantasy world, have fun yo" of skyrim. havent played batman arkham city yet (again cause of skyrim). think it would be a top contender also,atleast judging by the first game and the reviews. tho i think the release date hugely hurted the game esp on pc Deus ex hr is worth mentioning too but its not quite up there with the others(yet way better then most). witcher 2 i didnt play since witcher 1 was the only rpg ever i deinstalled after only like 80minutes of playing it. | ||
