The casual fans love the storyline bullshit but forget all the things Kobe did during the playoffs to even get the Lakers to where they were. And there are still casuals that think Kobe's talent and skill is just a myth. 5 rangs, 2 finals MVP. He has nothing to prove to you fools. The dude is a leader and gets his team to win games. That's it that's all. He led them through the Celtics finals. If you think otherwise you're just hopeless.

I'm not saying Kobe sucks, I'm saying the levels of hyperbole when it comes to Kobe is always way overblown. On December 29 2011 13:04 Crais wrote: Watching this Jazz game is so frustrating. As soon as they get any momentum at all. turnover turnover turnover. Jazz are gifting them so many points. I stopped watching them but the team looked like a bunch of me first guys. Al Jefferson seems to have declined and isn't even trying to pass out of a double team. Devin Harris looks like he's going through hell.

And Golden State is looking like a giantslayer at the moment, handing in to Chicago and New York in back to back games, even with Steph Curry out.

Seriously agreed. I would say the myth is that NBA superstars work hard. Certainly many do, but Shaq should have at least 2 more rings than he does and many superstars past and present have had careers derailed because of poor work ethic. Shawn Kemp anyone? How do you explain Lebron James constantly being criticized for the same, obvious holes in his game for year after year? Why do so many athletes, who's primary job is being in shape, battle with weight issues? Ron Artest? Donovan Mcnabb? Eddy Curry? Sure, certainly many work hard, but its not a rule, its more like a thing that happens sometimes.

As cool as it looks, it's not hard to do.. and the lack of hustle from the Bobcats' players was laughable, the presence of mind by the guys at halfcourt is.. less than impressive. Also D-Wade didn't run back on D >__< All the bad things which made such a thing possible takes a lot away from it, at least it does for me :\

It seems difficult it least, but I can't say I've tried it.

Well, the precision of it is fine I guess, though when you do something like that you throw it in a general direction (as he did), had it been a pin-point pass, then I'd be impressed, but this wasn't extraordinary. The distance isn't all that really, especially if you're a top athlete.

Kobe is a great player but needs a great team around him to do ANYTHING. The year he spent without Shaq and before Pau and co. they missed the playoffs yet Kobe had one of his best statistical years. Yes the guy makes game winners and is clutch, noone is denying this. The real talent is the Lakers front office which has put outstanding teams around a great player. His 5 NBA titles are a facade, remember Horry and Shaq? Those guys were the reasons for the first 3 "rangs" Kobe has, how quickly we forget this in the 5 Ring conversation. And his 2nd finals MVP was bullshit they just had noone else to give it to. It has to rank as one of the worst finals MVP performances ever. He had his chance to prove to my "fool"ish self that he was all the adjectives lakers fans make him out to be from 2004 - 2007 when he was the only great player on the team. What did he do? Ball hog, lead his team to two 7th place in the west one and done playoff runs and miss the playoffs once, and put up some of the best stats of his career in HIS PRIME. His team was its worst in the prime of his career.

God I hate the jordan comparisons however slight they might be. 3 rings were when he was shaq's sidekick, and 2 rings AFTER they rebuilt the franchise into a great team regardless of whether kobe was on it or not. There's a reason why he only has 1 MVP title, and 2 finals MVPs is HARDLY impressive. No one is calling him bad, it's obvious he's the best player on the lakers and was one of the best in the league, but whenever he gets put into a conversation of top 10 goats I just can't help but speak out.
