Wade/Lebron draw the defense and kick it out to Cole or Haslem when they are open.
This current stretch by Utah shows why having a good back court is important. Absolute garbage play against the Lakers bench being led by Steve Blake.

Big 3... LeBron/Wade/Cole?

Hey, give Bosh some credit. Even if he's not dropping 20+ a night, his efficiency on the court last year and avg +/- was amazing in synergy with wade/lebron.

2 points for World Peace!!!
Ron ron with a monster dunk despite his outshapness, yeah he can be a beast if we just give world peace a chance.

Good GOD I can't stand hearing Reggie sometimes. It's like Kobe Bryant is the only player in the NBA that plays with injuries.

Lakers won't be a kobe franchise for much longer. Personally, I think kobe's "leadership" was overrated. I don't feel he ever made the players around him better, he just had a talented crew. Now that they've lost phil jackson and they get the handicap that is Mike Brown let's see how well they do this season.
Then again, I've been a lebron > kobe guy for a while so take what I say with a grain of salt.

One thing you can't take away from Kobe is his on/off court intensity and will to win.
Unmatched by almost anyone else in the league right now.
There's a lot of intangibles that you can't measure by looking at the stat board.
The guy has 5 championship rings and 2 back to back finals MVP. You don't get there by having bad leadership and not making your teammates better. Lay off of Kobe. He has nothing left to prove to any of you.

Kobe's leadership sure can be called into question. I don't think he's terrible at it but he surely isn't the best at making his teammates better. He's won championships because he's had some talented, even stacked teams that really didn't need to be pushed over the edge except for the 2010 title. Which while Kobe was good, Gasol and Artest came up big for him.
That said, shit like "he's the most intense player in the league" is just more hyperbole and utterly useless rhetoric for sports story lines. There are plenty of players that have an intense desire to win. If Kobe ends up being franchised in Charlotte with 0 rings does it make his desire and intangibles any less?

Kevin Love's box score: 31 and 20. Those are some crazy counting stats. Sure he played 40 minutes against the Bucks and went 6-18 but that's still something.
|
Yeah, the bad shooting should be made up by his high FT % which is unusual for a big man.

I can't believe I'm excited about watching the Wolves! First time in my life. Rubio played fantastic, he could've had a lot more assists if his teammates finished (and a really bad call on Love hadn't been made).
What impresses me most is how calm he remained, always making the right play and making a big shot while his teammates were choking. How many rookies can do that? I was a little worried after the last couple seasons in Europe but he seems to be doing great in the NBA. I fully expect him to steal most of Ridnour's minutes (he really isn't looking good...)
Edit:I was talking about last night's game Didn't even know they were playing again.

17 was first quarter lol. i thought milwaukee played k-love pretty good after the first quarter. besides giving up a ton of rebounds to him he wasn't able to post up or get that much going after the first quarter. he had like 20 free throws though so what can you do lol.
did anyone watch sacramento vs portland? jesus christ jimmer gets abused on d

Leadership =/= making your teammates better. In fact, I think they are two distinctly different characteristics.

It probably wasn't going to happen but KLove needs to play next to Tyson Chandler, basically. Athletic guy who can defend the rim with length. Also someone who can benefit from his passing and doesn't need the ball in the post. Love knows what he's doing on defense, he just doesn't do it good. So someone has to cover up his limitations. 9 Offensive Boards, though, he's quite good.

love will never play on a good defensive team until he prioritises help d over boxing his guy out before a shot has gone up, if he could play even average d he'd he a top 10 player

In which game? Vs milwaukee 6-13 wasn't bad and we missed him with foul trouble since it seems like noone can fucking score a basket in minnesota unless they're K Love or Beasley (until ridnour decided to shoot some in the 3rd). Edit: And tbh, I'd rather beasley takes jumpers than we give the ball to Johnson to shoot, at least so far this season (or risking darko in the post and him trying some rubio-esque pass as an escape when he fucks up ) I don't get why we give Wes Johnson 30 minutes a game and yet barea gets 18. And yes we have 3 PG needing minutes but 2xPG offense seems to work better than with WJ on the court. Edit again: Barea got hurt, but still doesn't explain Johnson getting 30 minutes really. Rubio had another solid game imo, nothing flashy and a couple of bad TO (weren't all really his fault). D Will seems to be struggling to adjust a bit, but once he hits his shots I think he looks good provided he's not too busy doing his triple threat shenanigans to remember not to travel :p
But yeah, despite Kahn signing yet another point guard int he offseason, I think J.J. Barea is probably his best acquisition, at least until D Will or Rubio prove they're contenders for ROY.

Darko fills this job ok, will have to see how his offensive game turns out this year and he fouls wayyy too much. I think as much as anything, K Love's problem on defence is not wanting to get fouls to a ridiculous extent, so he feels that a hand in a face is too high a risk, just seems to be how I read it. The other thing is he's just so awful at D he doesn't get any fouls but...idk

This makes me wonder as a Dubs fan (where DLee is almost the same liability), who's really better? Love or Lee? Comparison wise they're pretty similar... at least on the surface, but I don't really study basketball enough to rightly say who is the better player (being the homer that I am I'll say Lee).
