Yup, it's based on the round difference. So a win is nearly always positive, and a loss nearly always negative, although big difference in ranks can mean losing 14-16 still nets you points.

Nobody knows how CS GO matchmaking works. The only thing we know for certain is that it is based on a ELO style model. Everything else is derived from that knowledge and anecdotal experience. I remember a long time ago, some guy here was very insistent on this online ranking guide, even to the point of insisting that MVP is really really important (which is probably why some people online seem to always insist on having the bomb passed on to them even to the point of shooting their own team); except it was officially debunked.

We know that winning matters (rather obviously!), and we all guess that it is rounds that matter, as otherwise games is just too harshly binary. We also know that kills matter, but nowhere near the same level as winning games, due to an experiment of two players of completely different skills who always played together. They played a lot of games together, with one player almost always top fragging and the other bottom fragging and found out they were 2 ranks apart.

Well, we do know matchmaking uses a ranking based on Glicko-2, not just ELO based. The rest is more or less anecdotal evidence like you said.

Won 16-4 and ranked up, finally after like 7-8 wins and 10 games overall I think.

Silver III, so elite.

Edit : Also I saw that not much changed if it comes to smurfs playing in silver range, meeting them like almost every single game, mostly in opponents team >.<

Miami University Redhawks (3-3) played against McMasters University (6-0) in a Bo3 in AVGL. Maps were Overpass, Mirage, and Train. Last official match of the season for us.

Imo, our best maps are Cache, Mirage, and Overpass in that order, while Train is probably our worst or 2nd worst map, we're also pretty decent underdogs in this matchup. We were able to find a demo of them playing on Mirage fairly recently against one of our scrim partners though and we felt that their style would be significantly less good on Mirage than Cache, so we opted to pick Mirage over Cache.

Here's a link to the VOD if anyone is interested in watching it. https://www.twitch.tv/videos/134591345?t=34m28s

Did you stop reading before this part?

We have yet again another typical case of overreaction. Yay.

That would still be cool if Valve didn't test features in production. They had a beta branch ffs..

Honestly it's quite disruptive to just put it at 2000, at 3000 it would have been so much less of a problem.

People would've still opted for the AK on the T side, so not enough incentive. :>>>>

Probably right, I actually never have been a fan of the Negev anyway. Should've just left it alone I think.

Its not an overreaction at all. Yes, i noticed that it's to "experiment" and that'll be changed. No, it's not excusable with that because there still are pro games being played at the time and having a 2000$ negev in them is fucked.

I doubt anyone will buy it, if you have to spray for that long, you're already dead.

I mean there's some spots you can kinda abuse the laser beam, but still situational. It's still dumb, when everyone knows anyways that negev should not cost 2000$ kek

Depending on their server setups, Copenhagen games just started.

Have you seen it available and used in game I mean? Or are you just guessing/half predicting?

Tournaments had an history (remember R8) of not having the latest version and still play on the previous one, or outright ban the use.

I haven't yet because the tournament can't get their servers going. It's a certainty though that at some point it will be used. 2000$ laser beam gun is no joke

edit: And anyways i don't think that this whole discussion should happen at all, because it's obvious that a negev shouldn't cost 2000$ and trying to make it "more used" is pointless in a game like CS anyways, because theres just a handful of guns being used for good reason. And if they'd make it good enough to become one of those best guns? Well, that'd just be retarded :D

Yeah, the R8 never got changed as well.
It was a "certainty" back then?
