Do you really need a long term motivation for games? Some games can be there just for you to finish them once or twice (to get to lvl 50 for example) and that's it. You beat the game, you had fun, you're happy and you can move on to something else way before you get frustrated with it.

What's with every new game being released having the expectations of "end all be all" type of game? Bring back Discworld, Leisure Suit Larry and other cool adventure games please...

We're old men so we don't use replayability as a criterion for every game choice. Personally, I have enough replayability in certain genres to cover me if I have time to burn: CS:GO, DotA2 (HoN), and BW. He asked a reasonable question as it is an expensive game if you pay full price.

I agree. Why does a game like this need to have and "end game" or infinite replayability? To intoduce that to a lot of games would mean you'd have to arbitrarily limit players in certain ways or make it unnecessarily dragged out. You get an ~30-35 hours for each of the two playthroughs and you should be max level. Add some coop shenanigans and perhaps some farming for rares if that's your thing. It's probably as much value for money as you can get for a non-multiplayer game at this point.

I know the question is valid, but good games are usually worth the price, even if they're expensive.

well i usually only play competitive games which pretty much offer infinite replayability, and 50 bucks are certainly not nothing to me, so i think twice if a game is actually worth it, nonetheless, i bought bl2 yesterday. im only a few hours in, but im really enjoying it and think ill be having a blast : )

Has anyone found out what the descending stairs(at least that's what it looks like) in scooter's is for? Is it something like the hidden basement in bl1 where you have to have a certain mission active?

This is really bothering me. It totally looks like there should be an area under scooter's shop accessed by these stairs, but I can't figure out how to make them descend. Tried to go back after every mission, but maybe I haven't been diligent enough about it. Has anybody figured out what this this is yet?

I would like pickup range as an additional stat (just not as often as at D3 -_- and not as a stat which comes for others, just additional) and maybe also magic find (haven't experienced lvl 50 farming though, but i don't find many good things atm). However before they do that i'd be happy if running over money would work all the time, it doesn't. like 20-30% of the time i run over money or ammo and nothing gets picked up.

Picking up ammo is too tedious first playthrough.

The second playthrough you need to do it way less because you have a lot more max ammo, more money, and pickups give you more ammo.

But in the first playthrough its way too necessary.

Borderlands 2 has long term motivation, it's called "4 DLCs over the next 9 months" or however long it takes to release the DLCs.

I feel like the range is good but it's just kind of buggy at times. Sometimes I can be standing literally on top of money, but because it's ever so slightly lower than me(fallen under the ground or something) it doesn't get picked up. What I really want is the old inventory size, though I guess it's to help keep people from just picking up everything. Going from up to 67 in bl1(with dlcs) to 27 in bl2 is quite a drop.

Agreed. One of the few, consistent gripes I have while playing (1st play through still).

Well i guess it's my own problem to want to pick up everything possible, lol. Inventory size seems fine to me, i usually pick up everything and mostly the space is enough until the next shop, but if it isn't then i'll just throw away white weapons and grenades.

That's 2nd playthrough, just hit lvl 50. I got all upgrades for eridium shortly after i entered 2nd playthrough, any idea what to do with it now? 99 seems to be max too. :/

Grouping up w/ a gunzerker with team ammo regeneration makes it an entirely different game. Much more enjoyable and fast paced, I must admit.

They should probably remove ammo items entirely from the game (maybe aside from drops) and simply have ammo stations that fill up everything for a small cost.

You need 4 eridium every time you want to fight Terramorphous.

99 eridium lets you fight terramorphius 24times. Dunno how much more you want to fight him in a row. (after all what do you need the items he drops for)

They should allow eidium to add upgrades to a weapon you have so you may add element of choice or mod current element with it. That'd be some nice DLC. Lots of ideas to go with for eridium in the future.

Only every time you enter his lair. If you kill him then save and quit while still inside you can kill him again with no charge.

What they are saying is that Eridium becomes worthless. I think they should have added a digit to it's cap and made Terramorphous cost a hundred or two to summon and/or uncapped SDUs. That would keep it important and they should allow for that kind of increase in bank and backpack space.

And particularly sniper rifle ammo, sheesh is that one the 'bad' kind to try and keep enough of.

The same thing happens with money, you are probably using it leveling up to help keep your weapons current with the gambling machines and then at cap it doesn't matter unless you die a ton leading to a hard time hitting 3m for the challenge and 100 badass points that come with it.

I agree with others who say the game doesn't need infinite replay value. If all games had infinite replay value then no one would play other games and they would only stick to one. I myself like to play a lot of diff games and never want to be tied down to just one game.

I'm having a blast with borderlands 2. Been playing co-op with a friend and we're over 60 hours in our first play through and we're still not done the game, but coming close as I think we only have 2 story line missions left. This is one of my fav games, but I certainly don't plan on playing this game forever, since I have many other games I want to play as well. I'll probably play till level 50, then stop until DLC.
