Afaik gems and uniques are the only really difficult things to obtain solo. They are on the other hand the items with the most standardized prices. | ||

Hoarding them is very inefficient in the long run. Typically you will find a white 4L item with the right colors and then transmute/alteration it until it has two good affixes (typically life+resist). By this point you may have found a rare that is worth linking instead though. | ||

Of course you can sell 10 jews and 5 fuses for almost 5 chaos so it may be worth considering purchasing 4-linked gear. Use poe.trade (thats the url lol) to find gear that fits ur build. | ||

Some people prefer using alchs instead; it isn't a black and white situation where one method is strictly better. With the transmute/alteration method you are spending less currency at a time and your end result will have at maximum two affixes (although both of these affixes will likely be very good since it is so cheap to reroll). If you alch the item then you're guaranteed four affixes (and up to six), although chances are all of them won't be good, if any of them are. You have a much higher ceiling of what can come out although you're also investing a lot more currency without the hopes of rerolling unless you're willing to use chaos orbs which are even more expensive. You do want to spend orbs while you're leveling up because it will increase your clear speed which will result in more items/orbs dropped. Past the point of using blues depends on what your gear looks like. If you have an item that has only two good affixes or three+ mediocre ones then you may be able to improve with a crafted blue item. Playing self found increases this threshold substantially as well since most of the drawbacks to crafting is that it is very easy to get low-mid tier rares for much cheaper than the orbs you would use to craft them from other players. | ||

At level 68 you prob have around 10c+ worth of currency. If not then you probably did sth wrong. Just grap a simple 4l chest for 3-4c will likely double your dps. Don't afraid to trade in poe, since it's in the game design. Noone can stop you from playing self-found though . Contrary to popular belief the mega asshat sellers areactually quite rare. | ||

I basically don't use Vorici at all, but I'm wanting now I realized that having him at lvl 6 in hideout is super great so I'm finally pushing his lvl. He's got the best currency exchange. | ||

The game designed around trading was kind of my intitial "complaint". It is just not something I enjoy, but I guess I will have to deal with it. Just annoying to me to know that my gear is a joke compared to what I could have if I invested some effort into trading. | ||

Bartering for endgame gear is a bitch, but if you just need a couple resist piece rares with some side stats to do low level maps, it shouldn't cost you more than 10-20c total to gear out your character (with exception of rings/ammies). And your character will be relevant at least til level 75~80, before you'll really be hurting for BiS pieces that are way too expensive for normal people to afford. | ||

I say with 20c invested you are able to reach lvl 85+ on some builds with ease if your dropluck isn't abysmal. Especially spell caster builds like Arc/Flameblast/Freezing Pulse etc. are strong enough with just leveling the gem and getting max res & high amounts of Life nodes. Of course, with weapon based melee skills you are gonna need to invest more, since finding weapons that you can use for yourself is usually not happening. Though with weapon based builds out of popularity, very decent weapons are cheap nowadays... But still at least as a melee char you need to have better gear in terms of Armour/Evasion/Chaos/Life and whatnot in comparison. And at least for me, about lvl 85 is the point when I ask myself whether playing a new char would be more fun to me... The leveling starts to get slow, at least if you don't have tons of high lvl maps. EDIT: Also yup, trade chat is torment and XYZ makes trading so easy. Just always search for B/O and always online, and your trades are done in 1 minute. | ||

As for the actual game, I lost a lot of steam because all my friends quit this season. I'm only Lv74 on beyond with my current character and the spec (dual searing) is actually incredibly boring and cumbersome at times. I really want to re-roll but I have no motivation since I have nobody to play with. I've actually been casually playing seasonal HC d3 (which is quite a mess) and random single player games I need to get caught up on. Is the TL guild active and playing Beyond? | ||
