Also yeah the weapon / shield passive trees will be super fun to explore!
They could literally buff everything at this point and people would still call it a nerf.
The life mastery says exactly that "10 % more life if you have at least 6 life masteries allocated". So yeah, you have to take them all. Your interpretation would give most builds the 10 % more life for free, which I don't think is their intention.
|
Not exactly for free, have you looked at your builds and see how many life masteries they take? Mine are usuallly decently tanky and have 5 life clusters. Thing is, some current life clusters get converted to Recovery Mastery and some clusters are hybrid.
Also is it even possible to take 7 Life masteries?

You are right, I forgot that the starting location ones don't count and some life clusters are also hybrid and thus don't have life masteries. I clicked through 5 chars of the past leagues and found the following distribution of life clusters with life masteries: 1x6, 2x5, 1x4, 1x3. So yeah, indeed not free for any build.
I think they chose the wording in case they add more masteries in the future.

You are right I think. But half of them are good, the 15% inc life on body armour with no life roll could be useful.
"(New) Skills cost Life instead of 30% of Mana Cost"
This one I don't quite understand... Is it a super expensive blood magic?
edit: Checked Reddit, i think the top reply is correct:
"Normal = 100% mana cost, now 30% of that is paid with life. So 70% cost from mana, 30% from life."
So that is pretty decent as long as you have semi good life recovery.

Idly wondering how tied to the item base Crucible trees will be - for example, Sire of Shards is a caster staff but still on a warstaff base ... will it be offered melee rather than caster nodes?

my league starter for ages, Venom Gyre, is essentially buffed if this adrenaline stuff stays in. Dunno if I can play it again but I recommend it for anyone who hasn't yet. Only downside is that you are glass before you get gear, though the suppression stuff should make early gearing not too bad

First time i saw the Pathfinder changes i thought of putting together a explosive conconction build, but i'm scared that the change regarding charge consumption might be to bad :/
1 charge per projectile compared to fixed 3 charges sounds bad if you wanna play hit based and need overlap. Otoh, i dont think you can make ignite based work as well as you could on Elementalist.
If i dont come up with anything, i`ll probably just start with a hiero totem build - creeping frost maybe, or classic freeze pulse/ice spear, or maybe spark or storm burst. Heck, with the change to lightning tendrils , even that one could be a good totem skill now as a starter. Who knows.
Also found this one funny - no more boring wither totem setups i guess?
Withering Step is now able to be supported by Spell Totem
Most surprised by this one:
Eternal Orbs have been added to the core drop pool in Ruthless.
Guess they'll never make it back to standard anyway?
|
The skill is probably viable with flask passives, question is how much it will hurt. I suppose you could use only Greater Volley, instead of GMP + Volley?
Not feeling very inspired atm. Maybe will do Vaal Ice Shot + Heatshiver. Is Heatshiver still safe in terms of drop rarity? I'm a bit surprised it was a common-ish unique
|
I believe I'm going to start as SRS Necro and switch to Animate Weapon sometime in the acts. Why? Because I haven't touched the skill after it got several nerfs in the distant past. Oh how I loved non limit Animate Weapon linked with Spell Totem in the past (could have been in Breach league). Three reasons I'm going to try it again. First, Lingering Blades from Bladefall should make it quite easy to play, and I didn't even know that works. Second, Vaal Animate Weapon could be fun and strong. Third, the new AI change to make it more fluid to play should be cool.
Also it won't be meta and I like that. :D Not that it really matters as I'm exclusively playing SSF ever since I tried it. As for what will be meta, what do you guys think will be the meta builds? I'm expecting (Vaal) Ice Arrow to become the meta build over time, maybe not immediately though. Maybe some kind of CoC Saboteur will take the cake though.
|
It's hard to parse out balance with all the mastery changes, but I think the old meta builds should be fine. Not counting the gutted ones like Seismic.
So I'd bet Venom Gyre, RF, Explosive Arrow, Cold DoT will all be good. Not sure about Spark with the early proj nerf. I agree that some kind of attack bow build will good, lots of buffs and should work well with Crucible trees. PF DoT seems like it might be quite good? IDK
Items now persist in a Vendors' shops for multiple levels, so that you have a chance to buy them before they vanish. Each time you level up, the oldest items are removed and some new ones are added. You can also now rarely find Rare items at Vendors. Isn't this is a weird nerf? Now you won't get as many items each level up? I would use this to fix my link colors. Not sure if I'm understanding it
Is Snipe good? I never used that unique helm. Wondering if it will help for leveling. Manaforged Arrows support seems like it will help if you can get the sockets. I really like lower level Marks too, I love Marks
|
Never tried Snipe from the helm either. And I do agree, marks are fantastic for bossing especially. Sniper's Mark is a huge dps boost for every projectile build, often beating Assasin's Mark even for crit builds.

haha, sorry!
I'm not quite sure what to play, either. Looking at Ice Shot, Rage Vortex or something melee... Venom Gyre sounds nice as well and I have never played that. I will probably just tinker in PoB once the new build is available. I decided today I won't stress myself about league start and just start/play when I feel like it.

Yeah, I don't quite get it, either. To me that sounds like a nerf. Unless you forget to check town and skip a level up often...
I played snipe with puncture once and it hit so insanely hard. You have to like the charge and aiming part but it felt very satisfying hitting a boss with it.

I think snipe is good for bleed/Ignite stuff. Tried using it on a bleed bow glad ages ago, also for puncture when the helmet was new. Only reason not to use it back then was a terrible sound bug that played the charging sound forever even after zone changes. It just never stopped :/
Having to stand still for quite some time feels kinda bad though.

I'm kinda torn on the PF changes. It seems like the life flask node will give crazy life sustain. ~2000 hp/s with no gear, 2700 hp/s with 1 watcher's eye mod (I got the numbers from Palsteron video). That's like 45-60% life regen. Coupled with Petrified Blood and your build is omega tanky. However, its the offensive capabilities that make me less excited.
TR is the natural fit, but I don't want to play that. I'm sure its fine but I can't stand playing it with low aoe and spam attacking so much - I miss the old pre-nerf TR.
The Wither node is quite powerful but yeah... I have seen some talk of Impending Doom, has anyone here played that? Or maybe Poison BV? Poison SST feels like it could be good if Crucible helps out there

What about Venom Gyre or do you really not want to play that again? I guess the removal of 40 % phys to chaos really sucks. Same with Cobra Lash (not sure I would recommend that as a starter, that one was rough).
Regarding the discussion surrounding the new "gain 1 sec of adrenaline if you change your stance": I feel like people underestimate how much they click move during fights. People are constantly stutter-stepping. I feel like taking this tech won't change anything in play-style during fights but gets you ~80% adrenaline uptime, which is insane. You don't have to spam click in between groups, unless you are a speedrunner and want the extra movement speed up all the time.
//edit: Apparently it's even less of a problem. Just watched a video by Tyty and if you put the stance on left klick, klick once and hold it down to move, it will recast it on cd. So no spam klicking at all. Just a straight up buff.
|
poison VG would work - you don't need the chaos conversion. Though it doesn't scale as well as elemental VG relatively, especially in single target. I think I'm going to try Impending Doom, Steelmage has a build for it. I think it's a poor early starter but gets online in maps with Vixen.
I think you can still use PConc for early leveling if you run 3 HP flasks xD not a big deal and gets you into white maps
|
One thing is 100% certain. If they let the stance thing with Adrenaline in, they will somehow prevent it from working with Champion. Otherwise the synergy is just way too powerful and it massively buffs a class that does not need it at all.
I just wish Gladiator wasn't so poor. Even for Bleed builds, it's not THAT good.
|
Stance dance Adrenaline is dead. RIP Mar 2023 - Apr 2023
The Gain Adrenaline for 1 second when you switch stance Mastery seems too strong. Will you change it?
Yes. The stats for that Mastery are now:
"Remove Damaging Ailments when you Change Stance Stance Skills have +6 seconds to Cooldown"
|
Oh the classical from OP to trash. They sometimes don't know the middle point xD
I'm still waiting they revert some of the massive nerfs they gave to Archmage, Spellslinger, Spectres, etc but they don't buff skills too much lately.
