I think in my build I have space for two support gems though, I'll pick Advanced Traps & Increased Duration. Enhance, like Empower and Enlighten, will be really expensive this league. A little less than these two, but still a lot surely.
I am in doubt of how Seismic Trap works. It says it releases 5 waves, has base duration 3,5 sec and release a wave with frequency every 0,9 sec. If throwing speed modifiers make frequency faster, will it make more waves or just reduce the duration of the trap.

Just tested it, the waves are basically just the AoE (which can potentially overlap), longer duration means more ticks, less duration means less ticks. You will want throwing speed for higher wave frequency, and increased duration so that the waves appear more often. Breakpoints matter here, will need to calc it myself since PoB doesn't have that (which is understandable), in fact the gem description is still wrong in PoB.
Anyway I don't advise anyone to try Seismic Trap, I think other Traps like Ice Trap likely are just far superior.

Still mad about the mana changes but I'll try to be open and see what happens. While I still think that a lot of niche builds will suffer, ggg seems confident everything will be fine. So I guess I won't go with the visually exciting Storm Rain but with an old favourite that lasts about 30 minutes each league and does a phenomenal job without any links: frostblink. If I can go to yellow maps on my own with just some pob-tree-clicking I'll happily admit I was doomsayery. Probs just trying to get my wow-team together for some m+ but I got 3 months so all will be fine.

Also the interview yesterday with Asmongold, RichCampbell and Chris Wilson was extremely good. A lot of good questions from Asmongold and great answers from Chris. And some nice memes brought in from Rich, especially if you watch Quin69 or have watched him before.

Storm Rain has no Duration tag though. ^^ booooo boring... But you are right of course. I thought we could finally see a non-meme use of those lower duration nodes on the passive tree. You know, they are really, really good for Storm Call. But yeah... that gem also requires a lot gear investment since it's merely decent.
Right. I think they introduced those nodes after Storm Call stopped being good, didn't they?

Leagues used to be super scary back in the day, too. What keeps me from playing HC atm. is the connection. I usually die like 50 times per character and league due to random disconnects/long lags. Not something I would enjoy in HC and something I remember to be nearly as bad back in the day...

I'm still trying to figure out what I want to play as a starter. In the pool are: Eye of Winter, Explosive Concotion, Cobra Lash, Bleed Bow, some trap. hmmmm... PoB is still not updated with the new skills (I know it's one hell of a job with all the changes and additions this time around).

I think I'll start soulwrest phantasms, it is cheap and it seems good against bosses (Using Navandis guide as rerference).
Some days later I will probably try a Boneshatter Juggernaut focused on stun, but I want to wait some days to check poe.ninja builds.

I did start with soulwrest a few leagues ago. Small warning: Back then, it was apparently a starter of some build guide / streamer dude, and the staff was 2ex + for the first week. AFAIK Grimro already announced that hes starting with it. Its still fine, just... be very prepared to be "generic skelllie/zombie/spectre" summoner for longer than you initially planned.
It might happen again. (Also, that staff is a bitch to colour correctly).
The build is super strong once you get to actually play it tho.

Genuinely did not know what to play, was almost resolved to doing ED again, but then I stumbled on a video from Pohx doing Forbidden Rite totems, and thought that's neat and different. Now it seems Ziz is also starting with something similar (though he;s doing the Soul Mantle route). Think Mathil was interested in trying it out at some point

I really want to try some of the new skills but I find it hard to not go for Raider TR first in SSF and farm some gear and get a feel for the changes before deciding to do something "fancy"

Nah, 26K is pretty good. I`m over 40K, got into the queue like 15 minutes ago or so. Forbidden Rite totems does seem interesting too, yeah. Will ED even be fine on low gear? I mean, as long as you get enough damage on it to kill rares in your map tier with a single cast its okay I guess. Not sure how hard it got hit support gem wise. I hope you dont have to stand there and cast blight at random blue or rare mobs all the time, that would really suck.
On the other hand - mechanically, its probably still one of the best builds out there, and has been since forever. If all it takes is a bit more investment to get to "feel good" levels of ED damage, you`ll be fine for the most part.

The queue screen just froze and had to reset. ended up at 50k lol, going pretty fast though

Can't load Mud Flats over the past hour; just stuck on the loading screen forever. Tried new instances / diff servers / clearing minimap cache.
(I think my PC's a little old for PoE, now - most recent few graphics patches have everything running smoothly, but in Runescape-esque mode where inventory images/icons etc won't load, so things like the Expedition mechanic are a bit harder when you can't see what's on the flags).

I haven't had any issues so far, very smooth league start. The changes to Act 1 were noticable (in a good way imho).

Besides feeling much less flask regen. My biggest was facing Warden without going in the chamber. I chose explosive trap to level and found two wands one that had +1 fire skills other phisical skills. Doing expeditions so over level and going smooth.
