https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2784310 patcherino
quick glance shows they didn't change much beyond what was already said (necro nerf).. minor mine nerf, guardian mana nerf
doesn't seem like a large meta shift to me outside of necro
fossil changes I kinda hate. especially bad for SSF
"All totems and ballistas now have approximately 50% more base life than previously" -- isn't this a massive buff to RF totem and Dark Pact totem?
Fortune Favors the brave seems pretty good this league

Nice nerf to summoner.
I am shocked that they buff Temple by nerf to all the modifiers. Pretty pissed of by that actually. Yeah more monsters and drops, but this makes it just a other map.
The fossil craft also nerfed with many mods moved away.
|
I for one think it's great that fossils are now for targeting mod types on your crafting rather than "well there is no other source of this mod so here I go"
Brings them more in line with essences.
I've seen some people saying animate weapon looks broke, but imo it's much worse overall. Might still use it but idk.

Cosign, and does make me wish Essence was available as a Zana mod. The new system does allow a few different things at the top end (e.g. being able to Awakener Orb combine -15 mana cost and Enemies Explode... or w/e), allows alteration-spam for certain build-enabling mods (would have been ... interesting ... if this was live at the same time as pre-nerfed multimodding), and I'm wondering if it'll be slightly easier to craft vanilla pDPS in SSF by using fossils without risking getting unwanting fossil-only mods now. Good change overall; surprised by how many people on the forums are saying that Bleed Bow Glads are nerfed as leaguestarters with the change when I got up to T16 Droxes etc on a vanilla bow in SSF Metamorph SC.

Makes starting on a good item with the desired mod a bit more expensive imho - you either have to find an influenced base and link it yourself, or you have to fork over a few more ex for the respective conquerers orb to get started.
So yeah, while I`m pretty sure you still can do everything on "vanilla" gear, it seems to take a bit longer to get started on decent gear with the right mods.
Overall I`m not mad about it, it did feel kinda stupid to have to resort for fossils to craft almost everything. Although it does feel dumb that i drowned in essences in Metamorph, and now that they made them more important again, they cut essence as a zana mod.

I was thinking about fossil crafting the bleeding mod in a imperial bow (farming the divs cards) for my puncture build. you need a 6-link elder bow now... maybe I will change my league starter now to a different thing, lol.
|
Elusive and some crafting was nerfed a bit but otherwise my starter looks unaffected by the changes, plus they updated ice novas graphical effects lul

Oh no, mana guardian got the hammer, summoner got the hammer, how does this game work now.
(Animate weapon actually looks pretty decent)
|
Pretty happy about the fossil change - the good ones were way too expensive.
Going to miss league start anyways, going away for the next couple of weekends. Looking forward to playing SSF with the new cluster jewels, should be fun to patch builds together with modified trees.

The fossil craft also nerfed with many mods moved away. Yeah the temple changes are really confusing. Fossils still are pretty good for endgame crafting imo. Just use them after putting influence on the item. Fossils also probably still in high demand for cluster jewel crafting?

Animate Weapon Now has the Physical tag. roll necromancer, equip 2 cold iron point, enjoy +8 to anime weapons. league solved.
|
Cold Iron Point isn't really the most common unique, is it? This league a lot of people will want it, considering it will be great for both animate weapon and Bladefall/Bladeburst (spellslinger / coc / cwc whatever) builds.

It's normally really cheap only couple of chaos

On March 11 2020 21:46 Sapaio wrote: It's normally really cheap only couple of chaos Yeah, but normally it's not very sought-after either. If it wasn't 1-2c before, it can be pretty expensive next league.
I'm curious if the spellslinger gem will work with wand + shield & using shield charge like some other guy on reddit mentioned. If so, that might be my starter. :D Might just be bad wording in the patch though. (It reads "Spellslinger: While active, reserves mana for each linked spell and will cause those spells to trigger at the end of your attacks while wielding a wand.")

Shield charge is Attack, but should work with spell like flame dash. But of cause u can not sup it with Fortify

agree. cold iron point could get pretty expensive this league. it is very good with AW and if blade blast is really good and physical as well I could see ppl go EK + Blade Blast or BV + Blade Blast.
current ideas: a) stormbind mana hierpants. will probably suck in a league where you want to go fast to keep up with the fog. but dont let your memes be dreams. more seriously: i kinda like channelling stuff and the cluster stuff for channel looks good. maybe ill try another channelling skill. not sure which one though. b) bane occultist (with ed for single target boost). prolly super solid. profane bloom works against delirium stuff cause it doesn't need corpses. bit nervous since delirium difficulty will scale monster defenses though. c) RF chieftain. i like tanky stuff i like lazy stuff. very sick notables. again: bit worried about the damage against later delirium stuff. d) minion instability necro. they didnt nerf skellingtons HP. e) maybe totems or ballista stuff? not entirely sure. played divine ire totems in Blight and that was pretty cool. But kinda not feeling totems. maybe ill look into ballista stuff, haven't tried that, since it seemed fairly mediocre last league. not sure if the buffs are good enough though.
i'll leave the wand stuff to other ppl, dont like attacking builds (as you probably have guessed by now). Maybe ill copy some popular build if spellslinger turns out hilarious.

I have a ballista build from last league which I was thinking about trying again, however after thinking about it more I remembered how garbage the placement of ballistas is. The placement speed is great, however you have to place them at your feet which really sucks in some maps.

I'm hoping that some interesting new spectres are found, it's been a while since I played a Spectre build.

Oh i see. Still don't think it will trigger, as shield charge is based on shield and therefor is not a wand attack, and text is wand attack triggered.
On poe wiki: The damage dealt on strike is based on your shield's stats. Your main hand weapon damage would not play into effect, however, you can use wands, one hand melee weapons, and be unarmed. This also means it will not proc triggers on weapons such as Poet's pen, Cospri's Malice, or Mjölner.
On Spellslinger: Spellslinger is a new Skill-Support that supports linked spells. Activating the skill causes all of these spells to reserve mana, and when you perform a wand attack, all of the skills are triggered. They have a 0.5 second cooldown and gain cooldown recovery speed as the gem gains levels, so you don't need to push your attack speed too high to get the most out of the support.

Yeah I also blindly assumed it would only be specifically "wand" attacks like Kinetic Bolt, Power Siphon, etc. It makes the most sense that way, but I wouldn't be surprised if people find some really funky interactions.
I'm soooooo tempted to try Kinetic Bolt and random fucking around with Spellslinger shenanigans as a league starter. I know wands are usually inconsistent early on, especially SSF, but Spellslinger just seems too much fun to ignore. Can always reroll after a day or two if it feels awful. I haven't done SSF in a while, but I'm looking forward to not really rushing the start and trying to get some early cash in the fresh economy. Starting over after a few days won't matter at all lol.
