From what I've gathered I mainly want to synthesize great base items with 3 factured mods to guarantee that I get 3 synthesized mods and hopefully combine good other mods. Ilvl doesn't really matter except that I want at least one high one of three, how high the base mods (and the factured ones?) rolled does matter though. Ideally I want 3 of the same slot.
According to this 1 fractured mod and bad mod rolls are useless, so basically anything that's a bad item anyways? If I synthesize a low ilvl health mod and a high ilvl health mod does it roll each separately or default to one/combine the two?
I think it's more complicated than that isn't it? Like with shields a lot of people want the corrupted outcome (Immune to curses) so good base shields that could help make that happen would be valuable.
Also it seems like ES item bases are hard to come by or super popular, but I have a hard time gauging what that means for the fracture item values if they're mediocre.
I'd love to know this too, I find it really time consuming to try and scour through all of the fractured items I get with T1 mods, only to then usually have them just sit in my store unsold. There's just so many "good" looking mods that don't actually lead to any builds that people want or they lead to good outcomes, but there's say a shaper mod or unique that's easier to get that does the same thing.
I'm currently trying to unload a foil with 2 T1s with no success:
FR +2 to Level of Socketed Melee Gems FR 38% increased Critical Strike Chance
It seems rare enough poking around the store, but I also don't think there's really a demand for the mods? I don't know.
In general actually I don't know that I've managed to sell a single rare all league even as I continue to slash prices.

I sell a decent stream of bases, but I mostly just dump them all into unpriced tabs and let people offer on them
I kind of eyeball if the item seems good. + to level of gems, attribute requirements, T1 attributes, high ES are the obvious ones
it's decent income but I'm probably picking up way too many bases still. the whole mechanic is clunky, and it's especially bad in HC where the population is not enough to generate good base types. It took me like 2 weeks to make a %int ring and % gloves, with live search on all the time even when doing work / other stuff
I'm enjoying the league mainly because trickster and bane is so fcking good, but this is at least as bad as bestiary, if not worse... not sure what would be considered the worst. Talisman?

Talisman? I personally would say Warbands is the worst league ever, followed by Talisman.

I think I discovered my selling problem, it seems like my online status stopped showing up on poe.trade, but was working on Pathofexile.com. So my ability to sell high throughput items made me think it was working overall. I'm still not quite sure what the deal is there as I had it connected fine last season I think (using acquisition).
But I did manage to pick up this as random loot which may be worth more than I've made in the past 2 seasons combined: https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/970997966297792171/A566A19238E870C7D645A9D82BE5E343D9EE0D6E/
so I rolled up a Winter Orb + Ice Spear build and it's been a whole lot of fun.
|
you id'd that? man that's insane
I'm doing Winter Orb + Whispering Ice, kind of wish I did Ice Spear instead. WI gear is rly expensive (overlaps with howa) but the damage doesn't scale as explosively as Ice Spear does. and WI needs ramp up time
I could probably try to convert to a HoWA build but don't really want to bother

Yeah I was very surprised to ID something like that, I'm still trying to put together my plan for it.
I went with CI Occultist, I didn't think I could afford a Scion build & wanted an ascension that wasn't going to give me free power charges since I'm already getting that from the staff. So Occultist with Malediction & Vile Bastion (Curse and Energy shield branches) are what I'm headed towards.
Still trying to work it out entirely the best way of managing it though, mostly what makes sense to put into my other armor pieces. Flame Dash, Vaal Righteous Fire, Hatred and Discipline seem easy choices, but I don't know what to do for a good cursing setup.
The build I'm semi-copying from poe.ninja is using Storm Brand + Curse on Hit + Onslaught + Arcane Surge in the body armor to apply curses which is pretty clever and seems good for bosses, but it's kinda only good only for bosses? Stopping to cast Storm Brand feels clunky. It feels like there must be a better option that would let me curse while mapping for all the benefits from Malediction.
I thought about grabbing Vixen's Entrapment maybe, but self casting a curse doesn't necessarily seem that much better than using the Storm Brand setup.

Wouldn't it be complete overkill to curse anything besides bosses?

I guess? If so this is the first build I've played that hasn't had a curse as a primary supporting tool so it's kind of uncharted territory for me.

you really want a blasphemy curse to take advantage of profane bloom when clearing. Honestly, you could drop discipline if you don't want to mess with aura nodes
in other news I failed to get frostbite on hit rings after 3 tries, took a week to gather the rings in HC. I don't know how it feels to try and synth top level gear in SC, but this totally sucks atm. I know all forms of crafting have some negative rng, but this feels especially bad for some reason

I'll see how my clear holds up before switching to Blasphemy, but will keep it in mind. The clear damage is still holding up in T7 right now and I have a lot of room to grow (level 20 gems, 20% quality gems, 6L-ing the staff, 10 more levels of mostly crit multiplier talents) and the storm brand cursing method gives me a really quick boost of damage against anything harder. I'm using energy shield recharge for sustain rather than leech (along with Zealot's Oath + Cinderswallow with 3% hp regen vieled mod) so Vaal Discipline feels pretty good to jump start the regeneration.
Kind of on those lines, I'm not sure how I should 6L the staff, I doubt I can hit Primeval ruins anytime soon but I do have ~5ex so I could buy a fated connections. Or I could just fuse spam and maybe not hit 6L. The other option is stay at 5L and just spend 5ex on my other slots which could probably go a long way.
Yeah the synth crafting seems really rough in a lot of ways, it's a ton of work to acquire the bases and then you still usually only have a 25-50% chance at success and even if you do succeed you're only 1/2 way there to a usable item.
|
hmm well if you don't have auto cursing somehow, you lose not only profane bloom but also malediction throughout most of your mapping. I suppose you don't REALLY need the damage, but it could be the difference that allows you to oneshot tankier magic packs or perhaps rares.
probably already know this, but if you have open suffix can craft quality, and can also get hillock 28% quality to make self fusing easier. it's always the cheapest method, but with high variance. in terms of when to go for the 6L, ofc it depends, but it usually results in 30-45% more damage so it is often best to go for ASAP
I kind of wish I was playing melee on SC, cheaper prices but a lot of synthing potential. if the next league has some similar "gather tons of crappy rares" mechanic, I think I have to switch to SC

There is a pair of 4-linked Temp Chains on hit Vixen's Entrapment available for 1 Ex right now on SC, if you want to keep using Discipline you could generally look for gloves with either Ele Weakness or Temp chains on hit. If you can afford the Vaal Orbs there are quite a few cheap options.
The aforementioned gloves coupled with a somewhat cheap Warlord's or Ass Mark on hit ring mean you can even continue using your Storm Brand setup for sweet tripple curse goodness against heavy duty . Even gives you extra leech, which never hurts.

Just standard SSF HC PS4 RNG:
Level 92 and more exalts than I've found myself on PC over the last two leagues together. - Casual 300+ spell damage es shield (non qualitied) with int and open suffix for quality/str (item level 72 :D) - White 6 link drop in tier 2 map - Shavs lol - Got a 6 linked Saintly Chainmail from Dapper Prodigy card, proceed to chance an Incandecent in about 50 chances - Normal drop Incandecent (that shit is pretty damn rare) - 3 Tabula drops - I would never ever play a melee build on console but in case I change my mind I got a 2 socket tombfist waiting - Not really RNG, but you pretty much always get the top spot from lab when you run it due to no one playing SSF HC on console - Primordial Might in A4 Daresso zone
I think I've used up all my luck for next PC league already Now I know how Kirby feels on a normal day at least.
Also I have no idea how to take screenshots on PS4, so a ghetto ass mobile picture will do

isn't there a literal "share" button on the controller? must be some way to upload that to PC haha
nice luck xD I think I've found 5 exalts this league? lvl 97 + lvl 89 btw

That's a really good idea, though it may take me a bit to enact it as my gloves are one of my more prominent sources of energy shield and resists at the moment. I think ultimately I need to shell out for a better chest piece (mine is just 400ES and 28% cold resist) so I can get some more flexibility in gear.

So yeah... I played Bane / chaos stuff for a bit on HC SSF, got to lvl 70 or so. Actually had more fun than before this league. Until my game froze, I couldnt log out, and found myself back in standard, that is.
Maybe it was just a stupid idea to try HC again in a league thats so full of performance problems, dunno. For now I'm kinda bummed out. Maybe i'll be more motivated to try again in a few days when I'm back home (leaving tomorrow for a few days). Who knows.
My (totally subjective ofc) opinion of synth league so far is still: least fun I had in a while playing poe. Being forced to be more casual (work related) this league in combination with the league mechanic could have something to with it. atm I don't see myself getting back before the next league.

I didn't hate this league but I never really got into the Synthesis stuff in depth. A lot of people were giving it shit early on and I was just enjoying playing my character in general and found plenty else to do still. But yeah I never engaged substantially with Synthesis itself. I do like the changes they've made, but maybe it just took too long to make them idk. I'm not too beat up about it, lots of ideas for next league already (chaos trickster playstyles some of the most fun I've ever had), and should have more time this summer as well. Finally played enough ES stuff to feel like I don't have a particular affinity for it. Looking forward to trying the EB/MoM stuff though, didn't touch that this league though it seemed really popular.
I wouldn't mind a really basic braindead league in the near future. Something really hands off and unobtrusive and just enhances general map clear gameplay style.

I just want the fractured/synth items to be less exploitable (like being able to make infinite synth items from a good base by using fractured fossils) and the memories to be less fiddly. Memory modifiers make up a huge amount of the payoff, but are a huge pain to use effectively since you essentially have to place nodes without running them.
Though fractured are also amusing for the "I have a great item but don't realize it because I'm just looking at the fractured mods" effect. Turns out I spent almost the whole league with 190 ES + 45% combined resists gloves I could have been using at any time.
I think if you just made non-reward node memories in the nexus not decay (just disappear at 0) you'd already solve the majority of issues with the memory nexus.

Yeah... unfortunate reality of HC. Do you have the tcp / lutbot logout? It works through game freeze, makes the macro mandatory IMO
as someone who has not been casual (been synthing a lot), I still think the league is quite bad. I've got some top tier items, no 1000 ES regalia but enough. Overall I think the league fails one of Mark Rosewater's 20 design rules - Don't confuse "interesting" with "fun". The league is complex, with amazing rewards, but a lot of the aspects are simply not fun. Having decay pop up in front of your char - not fun. Cortex spawns but with 3 damage mods and AoE - not fun. Having layer after layer of RNG to make an item - blargh

Nope. Seems like a must have tho, in hindsight.
I think one of my major problems with the synth mechanic was also that you had to store / pickup tons of stuff, either having a wiki open on another screen or just picking ALL THE THINGS when it comes to mods, only to produce... crafting bases, in the end.
And with crafting bases, its basically ilvl 84+ or nothing for most people. Nobody is going to throw a few ex of crafting materials (or tons of fuses for 2handers / body armours) on a ilvl 77 base. Sure, you can end up with a high ilvl item after throwing 2 lower level items into the synthesizer with it, but still. I just never had the feeling of "nice, i found something !" You always had to get tons of external information to even know if it was worth or not. I still have 2 quad tabs of synth items on SC and cant be arsed to sift through that shit.
