Just need about 40% more chaos res, and I'll be laughing in incursions too. Since you ignored my previous comments let me ask again. How do you leech life and survive incoming damage? Is 8000 life enough without another layer of defense? With blink arrow having a cooldown I guess you rely on quicksilver? Why eye of innocence? My apologies, I didn't see. Eye of innocence gives me 2% life leech while ignited, combined with mokous embrace and I'm always ignited. For the hardest boss fights I think I'd have to go rear guard with a red nightmare and rumis. 8000 life with block cap, 1k life regen, and life leeching my entire hp pool every time I attack is plenty of defence. For what it's worth, a t13 elder on a 5 link (using gmp, effectively a 4 link) was easy enough, His hardest hit took me to about 3k hp, which regened 2 seconds later. The most dangerous part of the fight for ea is the tentacles at the very end after protecting the shaper, which is where block would shine. I just read your question regarding a +3 bow, you get that by using shrieking essences of rage on a ilvl 50 bow, hoping it has a free prefix and suffix (annul is an option here), crafting "cannot roll attack mods", and then exalting. Then craft attack speed/leo damage over time. Regarding accuracy, that's a matter of me improving my ring/glove and replacing the quiver I have with an accuracy base. When I do that I'll be around 85-90%. Keep in mind, when you attack 5 times a second, sometimes attacking a 6th time is not a huge drama. Unfortunately I leave my computer for a month and a bit in a week or so, but if I get the opportunity I'm hoping to record an uber elder kill and put together something on the forums for the build. I believe it's incredibly strong defensively, really good for general mapping, and potentially a good uber elder farmer. I don't think there is a single piece of content it can't do reliably, at this stage. How do you leech you whole HP pool? You mean over 5s because of limit of 1/5 max life leech?
Also how do you move around the map since you don't use Queen of the Forest and Blink Arrow has a cooldown? One or two quicksilvers? Is that enough?

Idk about others but when leveling I don't do much "crafting", beyond maybe tossing a shitty essence at a white item and hoping for a decent roll. I mostly just pay attention to which of my items are the crappiest at the moment and keep an eye out for rare drops of those. Sockets are all done with Jewellers/Fusing/Chromatic orbs, but since you don't usually have a TON of those as you level for the first time, it might just be good to keep an eye out for rares that already have the sockets you're looking for (or close enough), even if it comes at slightly worse stats. Fusings especially are hard to come by earlier on imo, so while you might be able to put more sockets on an item with jewellers and reroll the colors a bunch with chromes, it doesn't matter if you're always out of fusings and they aren't linked appropriately. Edit: also great note by Gorsameth below. If you need lots of a certain color socket on an item, try to get items that require the corresponding stat. i.e. if you need 4 red sockets for your warchief setup, it will be way easier to roll 4 red sockets on an item that requires only strength to wear.
On the topic of loot, did you get an item filter? www.filterblade.xyz seems popular these days, ignore all the overwhelming complication and options and just set the filter to "regular" and download it (instructions on where to put it are on the download tab). There are other filters too if you don't like this one. Filters not only help you get rid of all the clutter of useless items you usually don't need, but highlight ones that are "better" too (high level item bases for the zone you're in, and stuff like that).
No input on ancestral bond, haven't played that build myself (though it's probably a good starter choice!). Gut says something around high 20s or lvl 30ish, but not sure. I'd guess once your one totem is doing enough damage to kill everything quickly without you, it's probably a safe bet to take it lol.

These heavily influence what color sockets they roll, including when you use Chromatic Orbs. So if you want 4 red sockets try for items with only strength requirements.

The best way to get the links you want is to find a white/blue 4L with the proper colors (check vendors, find it in the wild, etc). For a spell build this would ideally be glove > hat > boots > chest (for an attacking build the only change is glove and hat are switched). Once you have that you can transmute/alteration it until it has two good mods (prefix life - suffix resist).
The other way to do this is to alch the item and hope it turns out well. You're increasing your variance significantly on whether the item is absolutely dreadful or awesome. I like to play it safe and use the transmute/alteration method.

The end game maps completely changed since I last played in Harbinger league. The whole shaper vs elder influence seems a bit complicated, is there a good guide on this?

On June 07 2018 01:17 Glacierz wrote: The end game maps completely changed since I last played in Harbinger league. The whole shaper vs elder influence seems a bit complicated, is there a good guide on this? Running a map with shaper/elder influence will destroy the influence on that map. Running maps next to shaper/elder influence will make it spread. If you get elder large enough on the atlas, the elder and his guardians will spawn and take the places of the bosses on some of the maps in that area.
They actually made it less complicated this league. Previously you could do some tricky stuff to get permanent influence on a map of your choice (albeit a pain in the ass) which made running it significantly more dense and profitable in the long run. Supposed to be fixed now. Just push and pull them around the atlas as you like, and run maps with influence if you want a bonus.
|
I believe there's also some rules governing the "natural" spread of elder and shaper influence and competition (e.g., if you have a shaper map with 3 elder maps linked to it, the elder maps will "take it over" whether or not you run the shaper map). But they're not 100% reliable, and I'm not sure if they changed with 3.3.
|
Oh yeah the influences move around a bit regardless, I should have clarified that. But you can also intentionally manipulate them a bit by running influenced maps or maps just outside influence.
Honestly now that you can't do any weird shit like the elder ring or whatever anymore, I will probably just ignore them and let shaper/elder wander around and just run whatever maps I want at random. Then when I want to actually kill elder, I'll go out of my way to expand him.

Is there anything to watch out for when progressing the atlas? I remember unlocking/shaping the maps in a bad way a few leagues back and it got very inefficient to farm (ended up spending a long time locking high tier maps with bad layouts). Is this a good list for the maps to shape right now?
|
You can unshape maps as well, so you don't need to worry too much. Most important thing for shaping is maps you really like imo. If you don't have a preference then that list is probably an okay reference. But if you have a particular map you really enjoy in one tier then that one will be more fun in the long run. For example I really like Arcade. Idk why. Played it tier 1 a lot as a scrub in my first league (3.0) and then did it a lot in 3.1 because it had decent sextanting for being relatively unpopular (so I could buy cheaper). So it's just a comfort zone.
Since the sextant changes I think there's a lot less emphasis on "perfect" shaping maps with tons of neighbors to load up sextants and all that. They're really trying to make changes in a "do what you want/like most" route it seems. Which is nice.

I can recommend Gilded Cage's map guide on the forums and the related map reference google doc if you really want to get into it.
His reply regarding which maps to shape: + Show Spoiler +This is mainly personal preference. My recommendations:
Tier 1: Beach Tier 2: Arid Lake Tier 3: Burial Chambers Tier 4: City Square Tier 5: Toxic Sewer Tier 6: Underground Sea Tier 7: Ramparts Tier 8: Infested Valley Tier 9: Moon Temple Tier 10: Siege
What map you shape will depend on your build/playstyle. The short answer should always be "if you enjoy a certain map and it feels good to you, it's good to shape" - I love Mausoleum and especially Haunted Mansion for example and usually end up shaping those.
As long as you're not picking something absolutely terrible (Cells for example) you should be fine.
edit: The above linked pathofexilegems.com guide sounds like it is from February and they simply slapped "Incursion" on, don't use it as a reference. Vault got gutted in terms of mobs and the card drop rate got nerfed, Shore and Dunes are a lot more empty, stuff like that.

I remember unlocking/shaping the maps in a bad way a few leagues back and it got very inefficient to farm (ended up spending a long time locking high tier maps with bad layouts). Is this a good list for the maps to shape right now? If you want to do a Shaped atlas strategy (i.e., Shape a map you really like, and then run that map a whole bunch), you want to avoid completing maps of the same tier as the map you're going to run, or one tier higher.
So, if your plan is to spam the shit out of Shaped Burial Chambers (T8, because Burial Chambers is a T3 map):
- Complete all maps of tier 1-7
- Don't complete any T8 maps
- Don't complete any T9 maps
- Complete all maps of tier 10+
Similarly, if you're gonna spam Shaped Vault, you complete all maps up to T13, have Shaped Vault as your only T14, and skip T15 entirely.
The reason for this is that when the game drops a map, first it decides on the tier, then it decides which map of that tier to drop. If Shaped Burial Chambers is your only T8 map, then when the game decides to drop you a T8 map, it'll always be Shaped Burial Chambers. If you have other T8 maps completed, then you'll only have a 1/x chance (where x is the number of T8 maps you've completed) of getting Shaped Burial Chambers. Furthermore, if the game tries to drop a map of a given tier and you don't have any maps of that tier completed, it'll drop down to a lower tier and drop that instead (which is why you don't complete any T9 maps).
Important note: "Complete" here means killing the boss. If you kill the boss, the map gets added to your drop pool, even if you don't complete the bonus objective.
This isn't the only way to run the atlas - there's nothing wrong with just going for full completion, or a haphazard "complete maps you like, skip maps you don't like" approach. But if you do that, then decide you want to go back to a Shaped strategy, uncompleting maps is (as you learned in a previous league) very expensive.
|
If I do Shaped Vault as the only T14, and skipping T15 entirely, doesn't that mean I will always have to buy all the T16 maps if I want to run them?
Maybe a good compromise is to have shaped vault as the only T14 and a few T15 maps so I can reliably farm for T16 maps later on?
Last league I played I unlocked almost everything and was sitting at 125% rate. Maintaining a high t ier map pool was never an issue for me.

This list is kinda odd. I seem to remember maps like underground sea having a bad layout, but maybe a lot of them are updated since I last played. I will take a close look at the spreadsheets in his guide later.

I see streamers and stuff running those underground river / cavern style maps all the time and I personally hate them. I'm with you I don't like the layouts either. Don't know what the draw is but there must be a reason.

Underground sea has crazy density and a good div card (well, it was really good when alchs were expensive, but its still not bad) Like a lot of bad layouts it has backtracking, but it can be minimized by running a couple hundred of them and getting a sense for it.
edit: and it's ok to miss a few when the map just has more to begin with.

I like underground river and the other brown earth underground maps.

T15 I'd say it's between Siege, Bog and Belfry, all pretty nice maps - personally I prefer Siege. Moon Temple will be my shaped T14 of choice since it's just a beautiful easy and dense map. For shaped T13 it's Armoury vs Infested Valley mostly with Mud Geyser/Laboratory trailing a bit behind (also potentially rough bosses). Shore/Tropical are empty as hell compared to any of these.

I have no experience with ignite or explosive arrow and just slapped together some quick bow leveling shit tonight and got to 40ish but don't know when it's safe to respec and invest hard in the fire damage nodes and such and switch to EA. At the rate I'm at I could probably make it all the way to maps on my twink gear but idk, don't want to accidentally fuck myself
