You could go for only elemental damage nodes but those were fewer and weaker. And in 3.0 Burning damage nodes were buffed and new DoT supports let you only focus on fire, burning and whatever else boosts ignite only. | ||

I pretty extensively tested this, and an awful lost of builds were based around it - such as cospris malice and vortex. | ||

Depends on what you're usually into, if you want to play HC I'd say playing the 3.0 beta is a must just to get used to some of the new things. For Softcore, as long as you're comfortable with builds and/or already have something in mind that you're going to copy, going blind into the new stuff on release sounds like it could be loads of fun. If you just want a bit of craziness to get back into the groove of things there's a 2 week Mayhem race (SC/HC/SSF) going on right now that just started yesterday. | ||

 I remember someone mentioning soul mantle stuff few pages back (archangel?) I was wondering if Soul Mantle + 2x Kikazaru was really HC safe? I know people were running the build this past league but I'm still a bit worried about using 3 items with no life, and curses on self (at 20% the effect but yeah) | ||

I do however plan builds that will not die often (and often such builds die more during leveling than when finally reaching build's end). Soul mantle + 2x kikazaru also requires a Curse Immune flask for when too many curses are upon you. Something that is always useful with its effects and has plenty of charges. BTW, I spent last few days trying to come up with some nice Oro's Sacrifice builds for 3.0 based around ignite. I have not found one yet that I am satisfied yet. Best I could cobble together is a Vigilant Strike Chieftain that does 65k dps and 83k ignite dps and also uses Flame Totems with Immolation for a damage boost. Well DPS is still work in progress and not all my body slots are filled but the biggest ones are. Nice thing about Chieftain is how you get new Endurance Charges by just attacking and igniting people so in theory you should always have enough to ignore Vigilant Strike cooldown. Now this build uses Kaom's Heart as well so the Flame Totem is just 4L. The question is if it worth more to use something like Belly and 6L that totem but lose lots of life and some bonus fire damage. With a 6L I could probably use Ancestral Warchief instead because I can afford one link to be additional accuracy. The build also uses new Emberwake so two ignites will be possible. With all frenzy charges up build has 2 attack per second so real dps should be 65k + 2x83k with AoE only being Ignite dps. | ||

@Archangel I think the biggest problem you will have is dealing with a name lock melee skill with low AoE. when I was working on crit FB, the damage was insane and I even got reflect handled, but the damage projection is so lacking that it felt bad to me. if you are OK with this then go for it In my previous experience Kaom's is superior to Belly but it may be closer now, since you can get higher flat life on your gear | ||

It should spread one or two ignites through all the mobs near each other. In theory I would only need to hit the first monster of the group and then continue hitting the rare or special enemies while ignite takes care of the rest. Another option is to use Flicker to get right to most dangerous enemy and then use Vigilant on that one while Ignite takes care of the rest. I am going to try this build in 2.6 first but using Melee Splash instead of crappy Elemental proliferation. They both got same penalty to damage but melee splash only got that penalty on other enemies, also Melee Splash has much bigger AoE than Elemental Proliferation (but will not spread outside that AoE). The only problem might be that I need to kill Ignited enemies to get Endurance charges, and Vigilant + Melee Splash might be one shotting most enemies with first strike :D | ||

It seems there aren't that many people playing though, either they're waiting for 3.0 or because it's a race (and gets voided at the end). Side note, I'm playing melee life based after many moons, had forgotten the feeling you get seeing your hp bar bouncing between 20 and 60 % >.> feels more rewarding but also more mechanically intensive... lots of adrenaline, dopamine, serotonin, amphetamine (maybe not that last one) | ||
