Awesome. But forcing that stuff on myself (including the HC consequences) when I have other easier or smarter options? No way.
This will probably be one of the leagues where I'll swap to Softcore 3-4 weeks in just so I can actually get to see and try out all the new content without feeling like an idiot.
I'm feeling the same. The initial race to maps in HC was really fun but I think I'll start Softcore this league, my goal is to try and get a headhunter so I think I'll need the headstart. Think I might do like ZiggyD and swap SC <-> HC every league

But surprised someone still play this game.
Maybe, like many others, I await some new Diablo 2 clones, not much actracted to actual RPGs, I still would to play Diablo 2 with a bit better graphic and better multiplayer.
Just my opinion.
I used to feel the same, but only having to do the lab trials once isn't so bad (use /global 820 for uber trials), and if Izaro is the problem can easily pay for a rush. For dealing with traps, once you do lab enough it's just like any other zone in the game; the layouts can be learned and predicted. I'm to the point where once I see a bit of a map I know exactly where to run and what traps will be around. Hardly need to think anymore, just blaze through the whole thing in ~8mins

Really don't recommend you go guardian on HC unless you have a dedicated group or at least a few friends who you know will be playing long term, since in general player base is lacking. I personally would love to play guardian but don't have these things

Phantomlancer you should play what you want to play, but if you end up playing support I'll message you once I get to red maps. Quillrain support is better for mapping, but I'd prefer guardian for bosskills, but either is fine really, as long as you have some defensive auras and high effectiveness enfeeble + temp chains. Getting a good guardian up and running early on might be tricky tho.

As EchelonTee pointed i ll be very troubled without a party at the beginning and i think i wont make it in time so i wont play HC.I wanted to help you alur i thought a nolife schedule and an very easy build would be enough anyway another time when i learn the game better, gl alur hf.

Huh since there's no word of addressing single target damage for wander, I guess Frost Wall is here to stay for yet another league. On one hand, I'm starting to get bored abusing frost wall with KB/LA. On the other hand, it just so damn good, out-classes everything I did before. Need less link setup, crazy AOE, crazy single target which leads to the ability to stack defense without slowing down. What's not to love urgh.
Also that new unique gladiator plate, The Brass Dome, seems fucking cray with Juggernaut.

I don't think you can rule out frost wall nerf until we see the notes this Friday. Edit: Wednesday, I even knew that, derppost.

Im gonna no life next weekend in hc. Anyone wanna join?

I'm off work Friday through Monday,. On call at work but should still be near front of the pack I hope

Worked overtime over the weekend so I've got a free day that I can probably use on Friday. Still debating if its worth playing though; the game direction since shadow of the vaal has been pretty disappointing.

Hmmm different atlas bonus seems quite legit. A bit disturbing that they couldn't figure this out until now but whatever lols. At least we aren't getting the 33% map drop penalty that turned the old atlas's 100% more maps into actually just 30% more maps rofl.
I still am of the opinion that this should bypass the mob's drop limit (white mobs capped at refund for example) or that this kind of upgrade could just be put in much like unique box spawnrate increases without some huge atlas system and it would improve the game, but i guess it still doesn't matter if I can't convince myself to get a character to level 65 anyway lelz

In a nutshell the fact that this gives you a linear bonus to map drops still means that it hits diminishing returns above 50% and more unlocked maps become pretty much irrelevant at 75% unlocked total. Sacrificing an increase in drops of like ~15-30% for being able to select which layouts those maps consist of seems still like an easy choice. Unless they throw a complete curveball somehow and 'good layouts' stop existing somehow.
This not being able to circumvent mob drop limit just means it's worse than most people math out because going from +0 to +1 isn't as clear cut as going from +2 to an increase in +2 drops.
The questions are still:
"Do you want 30% more +2 map drops or the ability to only drop a specific map from a specific tier?"
"Do you want 15% more +2 map drops or the ability to never drop a specific map from a specific tier?"
...I don't see the increase in +2s winning over either of those points.

In terms of full-completing the atlas, sure. But realistically, I'd prefer that the default use-scenario (just run every map you find and eventually full-complete the atlas) be at least sliiiiightly less optimal than a planned approach. Which is why league-wide atlases and expensive un-clears are kinda dumb imo but w/e.
This bonus is still better than a stupid map drop penalty into a huge glut of literally worthless t1-4 maps.
Meanwhile, GGG hiring ziggyd to do essence league reveals predictably results in no good information being available and mass confusion regarding levels vs tiers of essences etc.

I can probably commit to playing at least once just because I'll die in normal ^_^ Not sure they'll be something to martyr on this league like labyrinth though.

thinking of trying out spectral throw since I've never done it, think trying to go low life from the start of a new league would be too hard? I've never done a low life build or spectral throw but it looks pretty fun.
|
What specific benefits will low life bring you when compared to CI? The usual answer is an extra aura/herald or two, in which case it means you are aiming for an ele throw build. You'll need to be crit to do damage in that circumstance, and low-life crit ele spectral throw has pretty substantial gear+tree requirements to be really functional. Probably not an ideal first character. Life base or CI will do you better until you reach a gear/level threshold imo.
Basically low life works better with spells (more immediate benefit with pain attunement, can spend the extra aura defensively without gimping damage) at the beginning of the league.
|
low life is basically buy shavs then realize you still need another 10 ex+ of gear, sadly
|
Would it still work to start as ES and be working towards that build? Or should I just go pure life/dodge until I have the gear to transition into low life?
|
everything works since ascendancy, few builds with any thought behind them whatsoever will struggle too hard into low-mid maps where you should be able to grind yourself more or less whatever you want
|
transitions are largely dictated by gear. at the very early levels you'd do regular old life, but respec to ES once you get enough items for chaos innoculation to work (somewhere in cruel i'd guess, or rather when you've got solid enough ES gear. maybe use the fated version of crown of thorns or something?). lowlife would wait until you got shavs or lorica + ES pool to a manageable level, or find another way to get your chaos resist to 50%+. i forget what the chaos EHP you need to be safe, plus its probably gone up.

So Chris posted on reddit that the monster level penalty to high maps was not changing, although they were still trying to use other methods to make high tier maps a better preposition. This changes my perspective on maps to unlock, because unless mid tier maps have drastically been changed to be slower (or high tier maps changed to be much faster), chaining the best layout mid tier maps may still be the best in terms of price/time tradeoff in the search of xp. So it may be worth it to not unlock all maps for certain middle tiers, depending if there are layouts that are clearly better, like old gorge/plateau.
Of course we have a new incentive to push for T16 as we have new drops from the guardians and the shaper - but I wonder how long that market will last with more organized groups pushing to be the first to reach and sell the new gear.
