Going to do CI whispering ice next league. I have a question about profane bloom (occultitst ascendancy node) though. A couple of months ago there were people reporting killing mobs with profane bloom caused them to not drop loot. Does anyone know if this is still the case?

That said, I'd seriously recommend going elementalist if the reflect node isn't changed, I'm able to cast whispering ice into the mirror clone in atziri.

I've been playing this game back in the beta and some time afther the release. What was appealing to me back then was the difficulty of the game. It was really challenging starting from the 2nd rerun, 3rd was a real nightmare. I really miss the days where melees where so underpowered it was really interesting to level a melee character it didn't allow a single mistake in the talent tree etc etc. But what happened to the game later didn't impress me at all. I drop characters after ~15 hours of gameplay not because its hard, but because it is literrally 0 challenge with almost any build. Facerolling dozens of mobs on any difficulty really makes no sense to me. Ye, they say its all about endgame map farming especially with the new atlas release, but it's actually all the same, the only difference is you need unique gear for your build, and it's really not that hard to obtain considering pretty low prices on the market. So to summ it up the whole concept of the game's progression is not very appealing to me: faceroll everything up to endgame content (and its pretty time consuming these days i'd say) then farm some money and get uniques to faceroll maps. Anyone prove me wrong cause i can't find any motivation to play this game, though i would really like to.

Something like this passive tree. Focusing on cast speed as the dmg range on Arc sucks. Would use Blasphemy with Warlord's Mark and Ele Weakness probably, the later one should be better than using Wrath. I could probably skip going to the mid as the ES on the tree is quite ridiculous and instead go for Vaal Pact (as the tree doesn't even have Life Regen anyway and even as non crit reflect is said to be an issue in some forum posts) and a bit more damage. That'd mean something like this. There are a lot of different ways to build Arc tho... going crit isn't very hard nowadays and could also be done (for more acceptable boss dps ^^), and Inquisitor works great for both crit and non crit, Elementalist doesn't need a comment (don't wanna play one again though), Occultist probably works too. Also not sure if going ES and CI is a good idea, but the potential ES pool can be huge which I like. My Life build always end up at at most 6k. edit: A consecrated ground Inquisitor looks fun, can reach 10+% ES regen... hmmm.

That said with arc I don't really see the purpose in not going crit and converting to fire for massive ignites. Given that, I tend to think that increasing the damage is better then increasing the cast speed especially since you get like 60+ % from being a trickster. Something like this

Yeah the damage range on arc is retarded, I'm gonna give it a shot though if I ever get a taming.

What worries me about that build is the lack of vinktars :\ Yeah the damage range on arc is retarded, I'm gonna give it a shot though if I ever get a taming. Doesn't vinktar work with Ghost Reaver?

If everything's converted to fire the vinktar's is fairly meaningless.

Just because of the possibility of using the Taming? Is Taming that good? I'd like to think most mobs wouldn't live long enough for it to matter when going crit?

Anyone prove me wrong cause i can't find any motivation to play this game, though i would really like to. If you want a challenge in PoE you need to make up your own in my opinion. Niche builds, ladder placement, hitting 100, playing self-found, specific boss goals, ingame challenges (though most are grindy a few are usually straight up hard), anything like that. Personally even though I enjoyed the early days a lot (I'd say Nemesis/Invasion/Beyond were the 'best designed' leagues, the latter two after fixes obv - bonus points to Tempest which I really liked) and definitely miss those types of leagues to me PoE or ARPGs in general aren't games I play for a difficult challenge. Stuff like Souls games, Bayonetta, DotA 2 or even Arma 3 are games I play to be challenged and I'm getting my fix for that type of thing from there. In PoE I enjoy small tryhard shit more and being able to just grind for a while a few times per year. The 48 Flashback for example reminded me how much I used to enjoy racing. I used to love making my own personal special efficient builds and I still enjoy optimizing builds but I'd argue the game is so well understood nowadays overall that getting genuinely original (and efficient) with an idea is really, really hard to do. Hardcore as an environment also doesn't encourage me to get seek those challenges in the first place. Taking the last dozen or even hundred hours as punishment for misjudging your abilities doesn't encourage me to seek out situations where that might happen. Biggest reasons for me to actually play HC is the economy, the early race and being able to mock Oversky here and there. =P An environment where everyone is forced to do crazy shit (Invasion, Flashback league e.g.)? Awesome. But forcing that stuff on myself (including the HC consequences) when I have other easier or smarter options? No way. This will probably be one of the leagues where I'll swap to Softcore 3-4 weeks in just so I can actually get to see and try out all the new content without feeling like an idiot.

That said, depending how harshly gated this content is, I might not be opposed to a hiatus into SC again, to see what's up.

So you have to discover what you enjoy. If you like hardcore but want to do some of the actually challenging stuff, then play around that. If you only want to try out all of the new content and test things out with it and so on, then play in softcore where you get the luxury of dying and then perhaps trying something else, and so on. But, there are hard encounters/bossfights out there, you just have to get to them. Some of the content isn't really obvious imo (like special maps with map device), so the 'casual' player who doesn't read up on the game or watch any streamers may not know about it. Similar to all the vendor recipes I guess, there is nothing within the game that tells you about them, you have to discover it by chance or find out from somewhere.

No way in hell I'd give up the first 1-2 weeks in HC those are wayyy too much fun. Nice Perandus Portal btw!
