THE FIRST HARDCORE CUTTHROAT EVENT! There will be a 90 minute hardcore cut-throat event at 10am-11.30am Sunday April 29 NZ time. Here is a timezone converter. http://www.worldtimeserver.com/convert_time_in_NZ.aspx?y=2012&mo=4&d=29&h=10&mn=0 This event is public, so there are no passwords and we're completely happy with you live-streaming it, etc. It's a hardcore league and will move characters and items back to the hardcore league afterwards. The top players of each class (who are still alive at the end of the event) ranked by experience will receive: #1: 3 Gemcutter's Prisms and a Demigod's Presence (Unique Amulet) #2: 2 Gemcutter's Prisms #3: 1 Gemcutter's Prism The top players overall (who are still alive at the end of the event) ranked by player-kills of unique accounts will receive: #1: 3 Gemcutter's Prisms #2: 2 Gemcutter's Prisms #3: 1 Gemcutter's Prism Note that player kills only measure people on different accounts. This means that you can't farm kills by killing your friend over and over, or getting your friend to create new characters. In the future, we'll have some rules in place to restrict players from ganking people who are far under their level. Player kills count killing-blows only. Rules are: This is a separate short-duration league that has its own stash (as usual). At the end of the event, characters and stashed items will be moved to Hardcore. There's a PvP damage multiplier on levels below 15 because players start with a lot more life than they do damage. This multiplier will be adjusted substantially based on feedback from this event and others. Players are hostile by default to players who are not in their party. You can ctrl+click on the entrance to an area to use the Instance Management screen to manually enter any other player's instance of an area. The maximum party size is still 6. Cut-throat instances can hold a maximum of 12 players. This means that a full party is not safe because another party can invade them. This test is a hardcore league. When you die, in addition to losing your character, you lose the normal experience penalty for your difficulty plus 10% of your current level. You also drop all inventory and equipped items. Your flasks, skill gems (even ones in your inventory) and quest items are not dropped. If you were killed by another player, your lost experience is awarded to them. If you attempt to abruptly leave the game in a non-town instance, you have to wait 5 seconds and are unable to move or use flasks. The grace period of invulnerability upon entering an area is 10 seconds. This should start once the player is mostly done loading. Non-partied players only show up on the map if they're nearby. When someone enters your area, it just says "Someone" has entered, not who they are. Note that the above rules are the same as last week's event. We haven't modified cut-throat yet to take into account the feedback from last week. Testing a hardcore event like this one should be interesting though!

" 0.9.9 will be deployed on approximately May 8, NZ time. I'm not going to attempt to list all the features here (I'll update with a lot more info next week), but a few specific things people have been waiting for are: The big monster update. All monsters have had their skills and behaviour changed. The new AI system creates some absolutely brutal fights. I die every time I test the game now, often in scary ways. New skills, supports and at least one new quest and monster type. A rebalance of all weapon and damage values in the game so that the progression is a bit flatter. This fixes many problems in the game balance. No longer will your level 12 rare item be outdated by a level 17 normal item. The option to put the minimap in the corner of the screen rather than as an overlay. Meaningful act boss drops now that they're harder to abusively farm. At least two things I can't talk about yet but might be of interest to some users. 0.9.9 is not the last patch before Open Beta. 0.9.10 is next ![]() So hype. My money is on last class finally released.

Yea, gotta find a fine balance of just how much to level and at what point to come back and start your killing spree, if you go killing too early you run the risk of finding yourself out leveled by the other levelers when they come back or if you spend too much time leveling you'll find yourself will not enough time to catch up in kills.so about that event. start with a new character and try to level as fast as possible and try to not get killed by others? maybe kill some competition too, sounds fun, but i am a bloody newb at this game ![]() also sunday night for me, but monday no work. guess i'll atleast try my luck there ![]()

Or do kills give XP too? confused :D I believe I read that killing a player gives you a chunk of their XP like the amount they would lose for getting killed in softcore. (If someone could clarify for me that would be great!) So NotSorry what you are saying is treat it as a ladder rush get as far as possible in level and then go kill. Hmm... Sounds like it will be difficult at first, I would imagine running straight to the ledge and farming once or twice would do the trick if you have no problems getting there. Then you would need a character with decent AoEs which kinda leaves a few classes in the dark if only slightly, as I feel a Witch or Ranger would be easier to farm this quickly than with a Rauder or Duelist with Cleave.

1) The party/chat menu is... clunky to say the least. Like having to chat with "%" in front if you want to talk to your party and not being able to change the default from "global" to anything else is just plain annoying. 2) The UI when it comes to selling and buying is still clunky. Like if I want to sell all my stuff I have to drag it to the buyers inventory. shift-clicking it over doesn't work since that splits stacks and I'm not aware of any other hotkey which took its place. ...anyone know if they're going to adress those or if they already did and I'm just too dumb to figure it out? PS: The plain fact that the only things (besides some crashes) I'm bitching about are the above is like... just wow. As I said earlier, I'm taking PoE over D3 any day of the week at the moment. <3

For selling/buying shift-click works, but to break stacks you have to leave the buy/sell window which could use some improvement I will be streaming the HC CT event tomorrow as I attempt to keep my perfect streak alive.

Duelist - Stack attack speed and crit damage modifier + iron reflexes cause in HC you can't risk a bad evasion roll then get Diamond Flask and spam phase run + flicker strike for insane damage

Yes they have confirmed it will be removed for a while, which is great, aof is so boring. Fire was boring in d2, has been boring in just about every ARPG, and is a boring element now, thank god it's gone ![]()
