There will be a three-hour cut-throat event at 10am-1pm Sunday April 22 NZ time. Here is a timezone converter. http://www.worldtimeserver.com/convert_time_in_NZ.aspx?y=2012&mo=4&d=22&h=10&mn=0 The first two tests went very well! (With me winning!) We're excited about this next one. This event is public, so there are no passwords and we're completely happy with you live-streaming it, etc. It's a non-hardcore league (we'll be trying those later) and will move characters and items back to the default league afterwards. The top players of each class ranked by experience will receive: #1: 3 Gemcutter's Prisms #2: 2 Gemcutter's Prisms #3: 1 Gemcutter's Prism The top players of each class ranked by player-kills of unique accounts will receive: #1: 3 Gemcutter's Prisms and a Demigod's Presence (Unique Amulet) #2: 2 Gemcutter's Prisms #3: 1 Gemcutter's Prism Note that player kills only measure people on different accounts. This means that you can't farm kills by killing your friend over and over, or getting your friend to create new characters. In the future, we'll have some rules in place to restrict players from ganking people who are far under their level. Player kills count killing-blows only. Rules are: This is a separate short-duration league that has its own stash (as usual). At the end of the event, characters and stashed items will be moved to Default. There's a PvP damage multiplier on levels below 15 because players start with a lot more life than they do damage. This multiplier will be adjusted substantially based on feedback from this event and others. Players are hostile by default to players who are not in their party. You can ctrl+click on the entrance to an area to use the Instance Management screen to manually enter any other player's instance of an area. The maximum party size is still 6. Cut-throat instances can hold a maximum of 12 players. This means that a full party is not safe because another party can invade them. This test is not a hardcore league. When you die, you lose the normal experience penalty for your difficulty plus 10% of your current level. You also drop all inventory and equipped items. Your flasks, skill gems (even ones in your inventory) and quest items are not dropped. If you were killed by another player, your lost experience is awarded to them. If you attempt to abruptly leave the game in a non-town instance, you have to wait 5 seconds and are unable to move or use flasks. The grace period of invulnerability upon entering an area is 10 seconds. This should start once the player is mostly done loading. Non-partied players only show up on the map if they're nearby. When someone enters your area, it just says "Someone" has entered, not who they are.

I am really looking forward to the PvP in this game, and had no idea it was already out there in some form. I will be sure to catch the next one.

I'm wondering if anyone has a spare Path of Exile key lying around that they'd be willing to share. Unfortunately I do not currently have anything to give in return. Dota 2 does periodically give out beta keys that I can offer when I do get one but as of now I have used all my invites. If anyone would be kind enough to give me a key I will be in their debt. Thank you.

Back to path of exile for this type of game it is. So much cooler. Not just visually but in D3 I felt being treated like a retard from the first minute on. PoE is so much closer to what I loved about these types of games. =S

Second event I was going to try the same but I got very lucky finding a poison arrow gem at lvl 2-3 so I picked up a quick phase run and went to town stacking as much movement speed as possible then filling in a little IAS, was pretty cool just kiting people for days. Pretty much came to the conclusion that Movement speed is the most important stat in the game when used right you can avoid any projectiles and kite any melee, the only real counter is Cold Snap as it's instant, aoe, slows with chance to completely freeze you. I think Cold Snap is really going to become a standard for pvpers, even just as a lvl 1 gem to get a slow on someone it is very helpful and as such keeping a flask that removes freezing can be your best friend.
