Thanks for the info though didnt know that the shop options werent completely cosmetic, maybe if they include something i consider worth the price i might buy a beta key
I dropped 10$ for it, and I think its worth it. Small amount to support them, you get coins towards micro-transactions that you can bank till you see something that fancys your interest, and you get to play a fun game that will keep you entertained.

Is there a beta key in that image link by any chance?
I already have an account and won't use it, just asking.

Nopes, no key. Just a cute little picture for the new kiwi pets

The true Kiwi is this guy:
![[image loading]](http://i39.tinypic.com/1t0cq9.jpg) As for how he holds the shield, well he wings it! In reality it is a purely motivational pet. Save the Kiwi from the monsters!

Edit: Got a paycheck, bought it and loving it :3

Grinding Gear Games is allowing BinaryBeast to do a small beta-key giveaway, and of course, the first place we thought to do it was on Team Liquid.
Here's how it's going to work:
1. Follow BinaryBeast and Path of Exile on Twitter. 2. Send us a PM (here on TL.net) stating that you have entered, along with your Twitter ID. 3. Once a day for 10 days we will select a random entrant and send them a PM including a beta key. 4. If you win, have fun! If not, then like others have said in this thread, $10 for a key isn’t a bad deal at all.
Good luck to everyone who wants to get a key! And thanks go out to Grinding Gear Games for allowing us to do this giveaway.

Thanks for the giveaway Binary. Good luck to everyone.

I tried playing this game again over the weekend and I just couldn't get into it. I quit after about 45 minutes. This is my second attempt and I did notice some nice visual improvements but overall the game is just lacking anything that makes me -want- to play. I know the UI/Voice Acting etc., improvements are coming but in it's current form I have no desire to play. If i can't get into the story or don't have some back story on why I care it's just a generic kill monsters game with a lousy quest/NPC interface.
I was a little more hyped for this game when diablo release was still undetermined. With d3 about a month away, I think I'm all done. Perhaps if this game had beaten d3 to release I would have played for a bit or gave it more time. I wish them success, indie game studios, keep on keeping on. /tips hat.
edit; any keys they send me as a beta tester ill be sure to give out in this thread.

Hey Binary awesome hosting a giveaway, thanks a bunch!

As somone who played D2 for years I have to say I enjoyed this game's beta more than D3 beta. Hope blizz can turn that game around, but it will take more changes that I believe they are willing to make.

I'm offering a free beta key, but I in order to get it, you are going to have to go through a laborious process with many tasks. Since it includes many pictures and many walls of texts, I have spoilered it for everyone else's convenience. Thanks to all willing to participate!

Edit: Beta Key has been claimed by ZeGzoR! I appreciate the effort he was willing to put out...congrats!!!

Harcore ladder race this weekend and hints at a Cut-Throat PvP race next weekend.
"I know I hinted at cut-throat last week, but it's not quite ready. Looking really likely for the weekend after this one though! We're going for a regular hardcore one this time."
"This weekend, we're going to run a temporary three hour league with awesome prizes.
It will run from 10am to 1pm New Zealand time on Sunday (April 15 2011). Here is a link for more time zone conversions. Note that because of daylight savings, this might be a different time for you than it was on previous weeks."

That is awesome news NotSorry. I've been waiting awhile for the cut-throat races, but I most likely won't have time to join. Have they announced how the leagues will work yet? Is it just going to be everyone in their own intance and people that are just there to kill joining them, or are the players dumped in random instances with players?

They have mentioned it in a way that points towards common instances at least in many areas. When you die it is Diablo-style where you drop your loot! However, the specifics will probably only be available closer to the date!

SHIT JUST GOT REAL!
Cut-throat testers wanted
If you don't know what cut-throat mode is, please read this link. (http://www.pathofexile.com/leagues/)
Although it's not 100% confirmed, we're hoping to run a temporary cut-throat league this weekend (instead of the normal rush league).
We haven't tested this game mode enough and we need some help. I want to run a private testing event tomorrow (Thursday, NZ time) during the NZ workday. I'm guessing say 1pm. This is about 6pm Pacific time.
This testing league will be password protected and will probably be very rough. It may not be any fun the first time. We'll find out how it goes, will make some changes, then will run one again a few hours later if needed. This will continue until the weekend, when we hopefully have the game mode compelling enough for public access
Please post in this thread if you're interested in helping us test this mode. We'd prefer testers with a good post history of solid feedback. What happens in the testing league is secret and shouldn't be discussed publicly. It may require some tweaks before we get it right, so we want to avoid posts of "well I tried cut-throat and it was lame".
If you're selected, we'll PM you some details before the event.
Please don't be offended if we don't select you to help. There may be a lot of candidates and we don't quite know how many people we'll need yet.

Don't miss out on this the first test was such a blast!
2nd Cut-Throat (PvP) server test
We're going to run a 90 minute private cut-throat test at 3pm NZ time today. That's approx 2 hours and 15 minutes after I'm posting this. I'll post the league password in this thread. Please post here to register your interest.
0.9.8f will be deployed beforehand to introduce some changes.
There will be a longer event with prizes tomorrow morning, NZ time. I'll post about that in the Beta Status forum.
Rules are: - This is a separate short-duration league that has its own stash (as usual). At the end of the event, characters and stashed items will be moved to Default. - There's a PvP damage multiplier on levels below 15 because players start with a lot more life than they do damage. This multiplier will be adjusted substantially based on feedback from this event and others. - Players are hostile by default to players who are not in their party. - You can ctrl+click on the entrance to an area to use the Instance Management screen to manually enter any other player's instance of an area. - The maximum party size is still 6. - Cut-throat instances can hold a maximum of 12 players. This means that a full party is not safe because another party can invade them. - This test is not a hardcore league. When you die, you lose the normal experience penalty for your difficulty plus 10% of your current level. You also drop all inventory and equipped items. Your flasks, skill gems (even ones in your inventory) and quest items are not dropped. - If you were killed by another player, your lost experience is awarded to them. - If you attempt to abruptly leave the game in a non-town instance, you have to wait 5 seconds and are unable to move or use flasks. - The grace period of invulnerability upon entering an area is 10 seconds. This should start once the player is mostly done loading. - Non-partied players only show up on the map if they're nearby.
Another amazing event down and another win for me!
