I played the game during the stress test and it was pretty cool. I thought the pace of the game was slower than Diablo 3. The crafting system and passive skills are different but I liked it. I didn't get to a high level. I hope there is better looking gear than what I got. Anyone have a spare activation key? Hook it up. ={p

I agree that a release before Diablo3 would greatly benefit them, but, PoE still needs a lot of work and releasing it before all before its 100% polished will actually destroy the games chances. They should at least hit open beta a bit before Diablo3 comes out to attract more players and possibly hook some of them.

Actually happyness I disagree about them releasing PoE now. At this point with Diablo 3 being just outside one month until launch, any potential players they could attract that would have played D3 will surely switch over once it is realized. Aside from that as Dustin noted, the game is far from being considered ready for release.

While the stress test on the servers this weekend were important, keep in mind that they haven't even announced the final class yet. Once the final class is released, you can expect at least 1 or 2 patches in closed beta before they even think about bringing the game into open beta. As with most f2p games, I'd expect open beta to be more or less the official release, with perhaps the cash store being the final thing implemented, thus making the game officially released.

With that said, this should be a sufficient enough time window to not only improve PoE as the devs originally intended, but to also add or modify the existing game plans to include features people feel are missing from D3 at release. This could potentially maximize the player influx from D3.

In either case I think it's a better idea to release after D3 simply because of how big of a blockbuster D3 is. The chances are much more likely of people being uphappy with D3 and switching to PoE over people willing to skip D3 for PoE

So do they have like guild support yet? I saw some buttons in-game but they were greyed out and stuff, so I'm not really sure.

Yea it's very top heavy atm, everyone is in Chaos already, so you don't see too many people while leveling up, I guess it would be a lot worse on default servers since a steady stream of death resupplies the levelers on Hardcore.

I have been in open beta for 6 months but I have not reached Chaos once and I made about 20 different characters. I get bored with each of them and the game before I can get there.
Most I got was act1 on last difficulty.

Once the game opens another act and reduces difficulties to 3 I hope it gets less boring to get to end game.

Not sure what I'll use the points on, but gonna drop $50-60 to support them since I've gotten more entertainment out of this game than any since GT5. Would much rather have the shirt than the pet tho, shame it's not in any of the lower packages.
