This was just guesswork by the ref. it's guesswork either way. if you think there's an 80% chance there was a goal and a 20% chance there wasn't a goal, you have to award the goal. Not awarding the goal would also be a decision. it's wrong and it's poor refereeing and it's further evidence that we gotta get video refereeing at least for this one tiny thing, but there's nothing fundamentally wrong with awarding a goal even if you're not completely sure - a referee makes "I think this was most likely what happened" decisions all the time.

Benefit of the doubt is always with the attacking side. ![]() Anyway the real disgrace was in the Man Utd game, what a farce of a penalty! Sure, you could argue that they would have won anyway, but that's two bad calls at the theatre of dodgy decisions!

Hillsborough is something all football fans should pay respect to, regardless of the team they support - I'm a Man United fan and I still think that boo'ing during that silence was a disgrace. Yes, but just because a few fans chant disgusting statements doesn't mean that you can generalize to statements like "Chelsea is a disgrace to football". Every club has a segment of fans engage in gross and inappropriate behavior - for example, some United fans were allegedly chanting "Always the victim, it's never your fault" at the Villa game today. Hopefully these fans that were shouting out those statements at today's game will be identified and dealt with accordingly.

Hmm, watched it live and could've sworn it didn't cross the line :x lol it looks like the ref was right on this one XD its still a very harsh call (albeit the right one) especially when the score was just 1-0 at the time. most refs would have played it safe and not allow the goal XD

"a goal is scored when the whole of the ball passes over the goal line, between the goalposts and under the cross bar." Fifa I dont see how thats relevant though. Terry's NFL sack took out three players. This shouldnt even be an issue.

Oh well like people have said always seems to benefit the attacking side, and i for one agree with that. Many pundits also state that more offside descions (the really tight/close ones) need to go in favor of the attacking team more often, as goals normally means better games. Im just glad it was a big win as they can't complain as much surely? Im liking fact Chelsea won so well before Barca game, it will be great game! Exciting times once again to be a Chelsea fan, the only way is up now surely?

Apparently the ref admitted it was a mistake and apologised to Redknapp. On April 16 2012 10:24 Liquid`Drone wrote: it's guesswork either way. if you think there's an 80% chance there was a goal and a 20% chance there wasn't a goal, you have to award the goal. Of course refs use guesswork all the time, but they're not supposed to when awarding goals. You cannot just guess whether the ball crossed the line. If you didn't see it go over clearly, you cannot give it. Even if you thought 90% of the ball had crossed the line, the 10% of doubt means you cannot award it.

But I expect nothing less from those plastic flag requiring, 50 pound note waving, football-began-in-1992 believing, Sun reading sub-humans that make up most of their support. Hopefully Barcelona will tear them apart, and hopefully this year we'll finally see justice.

The rest of them I don't have any particular problem with, any dislike for them is most likely transient and more caused by particular players or managers than any particular hatred of the club itself (ie. Allardyce at Bolton, Stoke's ale house football etc.). I don't support other English clubs in Europe though, because they're no more my club than whatever foreign team they happen to be playing. I'm not English so maybe that makes a difference but I think the majority of Liverpool fans feel the same way, and a considerable number feel the same way about the national team.

I'm assuming it's not the same for English fans ? xD About 40% are like that yes, 60% are like you though and do support the English clubs in Europe. Most of it is press based though, for example if Chelsea lose a game its "because there squad/team is old" if they win its "because there squad has experience" its pretty funny.

England is already a Europan force and the biggest in the last 5-6 years. (well not trophy wise but yeah). Not as many people will feel like they care as much. Its pretty insinctive..

Liverpool is as big as franchises come, considering how tripe their football is this season thats the only thing they ever point to nowadays. Evertons first goal was Liverpool being shit, and then Everton who are actually pretty good, returned the favour. Oh oh wait and then the 35 million pound donkey did what he should've been doing all season with his head (hint: its not sucking dick). In between there was marginally entertaining play where I had to wake up at 7 am to watch the bloody thing and wished the whole game Id been sleeping. It was a dull game with typical lack of incisiveness on Liverpools part and scoring isnt exactly Evertons forte either.Thank God it had a story. As for the ending, Im gona take a gander your a Liverpool fan. I doubt Everton fans found it beautiful considering how well they played for the most part. As it is I'd rather see a Swansea game than Liverpool play. Even if it is "gasp" the F A cup semifinal. So yes we like football, preferably good football. No one without an agenda likes talking about mediocre football. O and btw for the greatest city rivarly in football history the number of empty seats was hilarious. what was it like 20 000 empty ? Seeing as you're here Reb, I was wondering at what point you felt Everton played well? They were garbage in the first half, so were we, they stayed garbage in the second half, we improved massively in everything except finishing. And you fabricated 20000 empty seats out of thin air, maybe it looked that way by the final whistle because all those blues who usually support from the heart not from the sofa decided to support from the car park instead.

No I didnt actually conjure that number up. I saw empy seats at around halftime so I looked at the gate attendance because I was surpirsed its like what 87k ? Wembly can easily take 100+, seated and standing, although Ill admit I dont know where theyd be standing. Atleast thats what is advertised. If im misinformed then I guess im wrong.

85,731 Chelsea vs Spurs Was about 1500 tickets free from Chelsea end as our Club decide not to sell them to the fans, they kept them for corprite use and were never sold. Great job CFC ;; Also Purple Haze u might need a name change to Red Mist, as that probably is a better handle after reading your posts. @Rebs, they made it 90,000 seater the New Wembley, for reason by law it can only have 88,000 in at any one time, which is beyond me.
