It's free damage for doing what you normally do. Hope that helps you understand it better! You do realize that the standard way for Boxer to land supers is to just tag his super on the end of his bnb combo, right? It's literally no different from what yun does. Oh you do jab short headbutt bnb? k now you can super as he's falling. I'm starting to doubt whether some people here actually play the game. Don't forget the TAP through fireball XX super (or even TAP->l.straight dash XX super)

Poongko, Infiltration, Laugh, Korea has always had strong players...

Seriously, people are talking out of their fucking asses if they think its any harder for one character than another to use their super, its all hit confirms off cancelled normals, or standard punishes or combos. How you get into a super doesn't make a character broken, not to mention keeping a genei jin combo going isn't automatic 400 damage like just blocking a fucking blanka ball and doing double QCF punch like Ryu.
seriously, dnasty i'm starting to think its like a bronze level SC2 player trying to tell everyone else that a protoss deathball is OP or something. Play the fucking game or actually speak with some intelligence.

chun's mk super connects in 1 frame on reversal. one fucking frame! its a better super than genei-jin, but nobody complains, because chun is a defensive character. give a good super to a rushdown character and everybody all of a sudden UP IN ARMS

People that can juggle into ultra:
Ryu Ken Adon Sagat Chun Li Blanka Guile Balrog Vega Bison Cammy Dee Jay Guy Sakura Dan Cody Ibuki Yun Yang Makoto Dudley Viper Fuerte Rufus Gouken Juri Evil Ryu Oni
Basically everyone but Fei Long and grapplers.
THEYRE ALL OPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP
I'd rather complain about Yun's meter building speed than his use of meter. Genei Jin has to be hit confirmed into, and then if its dropped you can basically never do more than 200 damage even IF you manage to pick it up again (you probably won't).
If you can pull off a series of very low frame kara-palm links then you cna manage to do 400 damage.
|
You forgot Abel on that list, and Fei can juggle into his ultra as well.
As for Yun, I definitely agree that his meter building is a way bigger problem than Genei-Jin. You can do an EX command grab with him and nearly get the meter back from the combo afterwards, and it only takes like seven whiffed palms to build meter not to mention it's fairly safe.
Despite this, I don't think Yun is a broken character at all. He is powerful, but people need to learn to be more offensive against him because on defense he's really weak. Not being able to FADC his uppercut hurts a lot if you can bait it.
Also @ Steve. Chun's super is two frames reversal or otherwise.

1+1 isn't the same as a 2 frame startup. i suppose it kinda is, but the super does connect a frame after it starts up on reversal. it just takes a single frame to start as well, so you can only punish moves that are -2 or worse (hint: 70% of the moves in the game are -2 or worse LOL)
|
Yeah, I don't really understand the point of it being 1+1 start-up. In the end though, you can't punish -1 moves, so saying it's 1 frame start-up is kind of deceptive. I used to main Chun in Vanilla/Super, and having a 1 frame super would certainly have helped in the gay Rufus match-up.

help how? i can't think of anything you straight up can't punish because her super technically connects on her second frame after returning to neutral. you can reversal his cl.fp and sneak her mk super in between the cl.fp and fp tornado, so what's the problem?
edit: also high five because I also mained Chun all the way through Vanilla and up until 2-3 months before AE hit consoles ^____^ beautiful isn't she, so classy, so graceful <3
|
I'm saying if it did actually punish moves which are -1, you could punish any tornado on block instead of just EX.
And yes, I still love Chun. I picked her because I like the way she glided down after connecting U1 lol. I can't imagine fighting the twins with her though. They're like Rufus on crack. T_T

Oh yeah I forgot Abel..Fei can juggle into it but it can't be juggled for full damage unlike everyone else.
I find it funny that Yun/Yang's command grab, in terms of the story, is learned from Fei Long, yet their command grab is 20x better and faster lol, Fei's Tenshin is like 15x slower than like, Zangief's command grab its hilarious.

SS was an amazing event. And yes they streamed 3S, VOD's are on http://justin.tv/shadowloohq/videos/ in the last VOD i believe, just search around for them.
Didn't see any GG but I wasn't paying full attention to it.

I wasn't able to watch Shadowloo Showdown top 16 live (just too late in the US), but I did catch the archived footage on JTV and wow, incredible games. Mike Ross really stepped it up too, definite props to him for holding it down for America. Double props to Poongko for taking it against what was perhaps the stiffest competition in any tournament outside of EVO, and perhaps ever.

Kid who impressed me the most out of everyone at SS: Xian
By a mile, Xian out played Tokido in top 6, and he shocked me in almost every match. He's a friend of kellymilkies, and she told me like a month ago about her friend and how he's going to EVO. I was like "Who is he? he probably won't do that well in EVO, he'll need a lucky bracket to get top 32" after she said that he would get top 8 at evo.
I am a believer now, he plays such a smart Yun (believe it or not, thats possible). And he's no slouch in MvC3 either. He's sick good.

that's exactly why i picked her!
and she does a lot better against the twins than she does against rufus, their dive kicks are easier to anti-air (her s.jab is godlike lol) and she can outfootsie them on the ground. a lot of why the twins are so scary is they have a much scarier neutral game than rufus does, even if their dive kicks aren't as good as his. chun can handle them better for that reason, she is the queen of the neutral game, and their dive kicks are easier to deal with

FYI Steve I feel equally as uncomfortable about fighting Sagat and the twins with Sakura as I did before I saw Uryo get beat down hard. The amount of risks you have to take is painful.
Against Sagat, Uryo was doing random MP sho, and I noticed he was hitting j.hp really high up since Sagat is so tall. I'll have to start incorporating that as well as the neutral jump tatsu that crosses up, I had forgotten about it. In the corner it's especially ambiguous and quite effective, it seems.
Against Yun I'm completely fucked, and that's how it appeared for Uryo too. His divekick, when it hits low, is +frames on block since even mashing out crouchtechs I'm eating counterhit jabs. That leaves Sakura in a dangerous situation where she can't throw (jab beats it) or reversal (jab recovers too fast, her EX sho is 12 frames startup) or mash out (jab beats it) or jump (jab hits during prejump frames), leaving only the option to block (face risk of eating a command throw or another divekick mixup) or backdash (can be OS'd I bet). I had been using the anti-divekick OS that I use against Rufus (c.hp + c.lp + c.lk) but it's not very effective, Uryo seemed to have moderate success with standing jab but again, he lost =[ And it's not like it's hard for Yun to get back in there and resume that pressure. I've tried neutral jumping to bait divekicks using nj.hk but it seems like that's a bad move because the divekick often crosses me up which makes the j.hk whiff, so I get punished when I land, so it seems I should be using nj.mk instead since that hits a little bit behind her.
I feel pretty comfortable with just about every other matchup. I can blow up Codys and Guys (beat the #1 NA Cody and Guy players on XBL) thanks to experience in that matchup against coworkers, Akuma, Boxer and Dictator are tough but manageable. Toughest matchups have gotta be Fei, Ken, Chun, Dee Jay, Honda, Claw (another one that seems pretty insurmountable), and of course Sagat and the twins.
