Playing Path of Diablo? I’ve been frequenting the Reddit forum (I NEVER go on reddit) and it’s been nice and just wondered if TL harbored any players as well? Also for anyone wondering: path of diablo is a mod of the game designed to replicate the game free of outside money trading etc and also keeping the LOD game as true to its core as possible. It’s very good if u haven’t tried it before and holds a kick-ass community. I’ve been playing it for more than a year now.

For anyone who's curious, major differences in the mod are: 1. Really strong economy with a dedicated trading website 2. Orbs of Corruption - can roll godly affixes/sockets onto items but also has a chance to brick them into rares - adds an extra layer of RNG to getting perfect items (4soc Stormshield / 10fcr SoJ worth many Bers) 3. Custom gem affix for melee splash damage, makes melee builds more competitive with casters 4. Extra inventory space specifically for charms, I've never played the game without this and I feel like I'd hate it 5. Tweaks to some skills and items for balance 6. "Maps" - custom areas you can access at 85+ with high level monsters for xp and loot, currently there are 4 tiers - it's an alternative to grinding CS or Baal over and over, though people still do that also I would highly recommend it for anyone who likes d2. I've tried running a paladin every season I've played, and I always die around level 91 or 92. Necro felt really safe and I never died on it the season I had one. Sorc was super fragile leveling up, but once I geared out for the cookie cutter endgame build, it felt ridiculously op and impossible to die. Druids, barbs, javazons, and bowazons all seem popular and good. There was some flavor of the month assassin build a lot of people were running when last I played. I'm sure I'll come back to it when the next season starts.

I love D2 though, the cheer amount of possible builds you can make with each char is just amazing. Stats customization, plenty of items you can potentially use etc.. The combat is awesome, you can use plenty of skills effectively and make chars that use like 10+ skills if you want. Walking or running matters, the mechanics are great. Just wish the strongest items weren't so strong and bots were eradicated cause they just screw the item economy completely and really fast, also I would like it if there were anti rush systems in place in the game to give more importance to normal/nightmare items and stuff, and make the progression matter more than the rushing. Well, I play without rushing anyway and it's great fun and rewarding. Plus I do self found mostly, or trade only with other self found (who don't trade with bot network), for legit difficulty^^ I do it in HC only nowadays, though I may do SC again for making some pvp chars if there was no bots around. Seems that PoD server has low population nowadays (only 218 right now). I saw it having about 1400 I think a few months ago, while bnet had about 10 times as much in the 15K. I imagine PoD will get a reboost when season restarts.

@prometheus: low end is around 150 players but during the weekend/holidays it peaks around 450. I imagine many of the players are full time working adults like me. Season reset has been tbd. The PoD team has put their lives first this time around and the game will be secondary. But I smell a reset coming real soon. If u want to explore guides “senpaisomething” on Reddit basically covered all the viable builds (there’s A LOT of builds” Hopefully I’ll cya guys next ladder!

As far as rushing goes, the cookie cutter leveling path is trist runs to 15, tomb runs to 24, do ancients, norm baals to 40-45, nm baals to 70-75, then start farming hell for your endgame setup. Pit runs, shenk, etc, CS once you get your resists maxed out, sorc has the traditional meph runs. I did about 700 mephs to get the gear I needed for mapping, took 20-40 seconds each. There are almost always clearly named public games to join for each stage of that process, and I find it pretty enjoyable. One difference I forgot to mention is that loot is always on players8 in PoD, so countess farming and LK chest farming is not really a thing (p8 loot doesn't boost rune drops, and actually makes them worse on countess). Early ladder population is in the thousands, then it slowly peters out the further into ladder you get. There were around 100-150 ppl online for HC when I stopped this ladder, and there's always I'd say 5-10x that on SC. I think a lot of the population also plays PoE, so the PoD seasons are planned out to be staggered with PoE seasons. As far as differences from median, it's tough for me to say because I've only ever seen it on youtube, but it seems waaaay more custom to me than PoD does. I listed the big differences in PoD a few posts back, but it's still d2. The reworked skills/items are very d2, the map tilesets are taken from other d2 areas (halls of vaught, frozen tundra, wsk, dry hills/far oasis), etc. The orb of corruption thing makes a lot of uniques more competitive with runewords compared to d2, for example a lot of sorcs will use 3soc oculus and 4soc vipermagi over hoto and enigma. That probably also makes rainbow facets a lot more valuable/useful.

![]() If reset won’t happen for a while I’m gonna roll a boi-sin. I hear it’s a very gear-dynamic build that can clear all maps np since it’s a phys/hybrid build.

I honestly find incredible how this game can bring you back every time, and it gets me *every time* I restart.. one of the biggest classic and for sure one of the most relevant games I've every played [now back to farm Andy/Meph/Diablo/Baal/Pit/Tunnels/Pindleskin/ ![]()

One of the things I really, really like about d2 is that I can pick it up and put it down at my leisure. Whereas whenever I get into something like wow, I end up building my life around some guild's raid schedule for 4-6 months until I burn out. I can hop into d2 for 15 minutes or 5 hours, and I don't have to promise anyone I'll be there tomorrow. Feels good.
