edit: To add some context to my post. Path of Diablo is a mod of LoD retail that tries to stay close to the core game as possible: no mh, no outside money, no botting, no multiboxing etc. Its as authentic as you can hope for with a healthy/friendly community. Lots of quality of life changes in-game. And a trade site thats very active.

Bumping thread because PoD gonna ladder reset this Friday.
Never tried POD, usually just use plugy. Going strong on my recently started holly grail run
The trailer for pod seemed nice but I am a little suspicious of some of the changes made...like the bleed mechanic. Guess that will have to see in practice if it is broken or not.
You know what I find strange. I was really into d2 por a year or 2 ago. Then all of the sudden multiple sites report that d2 pod sad going to shut down imminently and permanently. I uninstalled same day
The bleed mechanic is something new implemented this patch. No one knows how it’ll turn out. GreenDude(PoD dev), gave Necs a curse that bleeds monsters, so I’m guessing it’s behind that.
And the only time PoD has been “shut down” is cause of massive, extensive DDOS, afaik.
From what I hear Blizzard, more or less, turns a blind eye to D2 mods.
I’ll give it a shot. Though D2 is only playable to me cause of mods and the community behind them. If Blizz can pull it off, they can totally make D2Ressurected huge again.
I'm sceptical. It's a much much darker game than wc3 that's harder to remaster while getting the tone right. There's a lot of mutilation and nudity in the background, Marius is a poor fool who's basically telling his own horror story and the general tone is grim and somewhat realistic. There is a lot of implied torture, NPCs have somewhat realistic proportions and are often depressed. Very very different to anything Blizz has designed since then.
Then again the original is amazing and I really wouldn't mind it getting a refreshed look aka PoE in darker with a bit less screen explosion. First trailer looks like a good direction, although I perceive the base game as darker (actually darker as in harder to see stuff outside the light radius).
Also if they continue their Wc3R mod policy it's going to be rough for path of diablo.
Everything about this remaster looks fucking fantastic.
SC:R was great in terms of gameplay and graphics but fell short on release because of difficulty with game features surrounding multiplayer.
WC3:R was a disaster because of everything from the controversy surrounding the remastered art direction to the technical failures at launch to the complete lack of features on release.
But this... This looks fucking incredible. The remastered art style is amazing. Their Deep Dive (watching it now) makes it look like they really took the time to keep the great things while improving what could be actually improved. They've announced a lot of particulars:
-Remastering all art assets and sounds but the actual art and sounds will be preserved (no new sounds like WC3:R). -Remastering every second of the in-game cinematics. -Stash now has a cross-character section (restricted to same character types). -The game isn't always online. -No different servers for multiplayer (entire world is integrated). -Improved stat tooltips to better tell you what your overall stats are. -Ladder seasons will be shortened from 6 months.
im so fking hyped for the remaster. watched the gameplay vids so far and it looks amazing. actually its pretty much exactly what i wanted d3 or d4 to look like. whoever did this remaster should take over d4 dev immediately tbh edit: just watched the actual announcement. i almost creamed when i heard the tristram song
Yeah, seems like people doing the remaster actually care. I also live very much that they're not trying to hide stuff or hype anything too much. Blatantly admitting that making the game work with gamepad was a challenge etc. etc.
