I'm looking to possibly run a few Diablo II Iron Man tournaments. What these are is basically everyone creates a new character. You play through to level nine or for x hours, then you PvP. There's no outside trading or anything like that allowed, so you basically have to make do with what you find.
I just wanted to toss up a quick poll to see if anyone would be interested in this. It would be streamed + casted with a prize pool. The only requirements to participate would be to have Lord of Destruction.
More than likely this would be hosted on my own server so that I can adjust some of the overpowered level 9 skills and items, and also to prevent people from cheating by using outside items.

Please provide any additional thoughts or feedback on this. Thanks!

I won't be playing, but the Battle.net D3 forumers made their own ironman a while ago. Perhaps you guys could "borrow" some of the rules?

Rules of Ironman
1. HardCore Mode
2. No parties.
3. Once you hit level 9 you enter town briefly ONLY to hostile everyone you can, if you are the first to 9 you DON'T go to town, you just play.
3. ABSOLUTELY no going to town unless you are going hostile. No talking to anybody in town.
4.You live off what you find, you can not buy anything from anyone.
5. Everyone has permission to loot on each other
6. Feel free to attack anyone at any point, or use any sort of method you can think of in which to kill the other player (NO hacking / exploits / massing monsters at Waypoints or stair enterances though)
7. Quests are fine to do, you just can't talk to anyone in town.
8. Should Andy be killed, everyone alive goes to the Blood Moore, in an epic battle to the death. No significant delays of combat, though be realistic. If you are delaying combat for an unreasoable time, you are done. That said, before Andy is killed, feel free to do whatever you want.
Now remember, this is for posterity's sake, so honor system. You cheat, you are the biggist *@!*# in the world. I don't want to have the discussion again, so please, I don't want to see a TP. Just drop em and don't pick them up.
Last man standing wins the first annual Friskydingo memorial ironman. We will have another annual Friskydingo ironman every week thereafter.
Alright then, who's in?
This will be better then ever.
Map hack is a cheat. You give it up or give it to everyone else. I say give it up.

Ironmans back when I played meant level 1 hardcore, no gear. Pure skill.

You should collect people's TL ID's for a mailing list, so that you can let people know how things are progressing! I am definitely down, time to find that CD key >>

I'm very interested! If you need help organizing, message me. I have extensive history with D2/ironman/hc.

He means to beat the game without ever going to town/using town shops.

This sounds awesome, would definitely like to participate in something like this!

i feel some skills with different chars might be more powerful than others at the same level (9).

I would love to play some D2 but on this computer the graphics are all screwed up for some reason.
Anyone with Windows 7 had this issue?

You need to run it in XP SP3 compatability mode, using -w for launch.

Does adding -w to the shortcut target, fix it? It sets it to windowed mode. Personally, I use a glide wrapper so I don't have that problem.
EDIT:
Serejai is right. Compatibility mode is needed as well.

Not me. Windows 7 64-bit runs Diablo 2 just fine.
This tourney could be interesting, I wasn't much into the whole PvP aspect of diablo 2 but will definitely tune in if its streamed.
