It's situational, but it's not completely useless, especially in standoffs(although I almost prefer inf retrieval if i don't need to chase the carrier, nitrons are good for those camping heavies with flag though), where you will probably try to conserve your nitrons for when they actually matter. Nitrons are costly for impulse jumps, it takes 2 nitrons for every extra jump before regen (2 primarys, 1 primary+2 nitron, or 4 nitrons->unlikely).
The question you need to ask yourself is, do I NEED that third impulse jump before regen? If not then you don't need to waste nitrons, a well placed disc or bolt can propel you just as fast as that nitron could. Regular impact nitrons will let you get faster quicker with a third jump, but I've gotten to 300 sanics off of 2 good bolt jumps just as well. Basically regular nitrons only give you a bit more versatility, all that the extra knockback gives you is 1 extra impulse jump per regen for every 2 nitrons spent.

I was wondering, which do you prefer as a Infiltrator loadout? Spinfusor or the Jackel?
I have enough for 1 of them, but I can't decide. If anyone with experience could give me some 1st person feedback. i would really appreciate it.
Note: One of my worries about the Spinfusor is that it's nothing new in terms of gameplay. I already use Pathfinder from time to time, and my first big EXP purchase was my soldier's Spinfusor. On the otherside, I've read that people say that the Jackel is a boring weapon. I've tested both in Training Mode, but nothing beats real in-game experience.

The jackal is really powerful, it 1 shots mediums and is banned in comp for being OP. If you do buy it, be prepared to get called the noob A LOT. On the other hand, it can offer more intresting gameplay since you can stick them to friendlies and have them run into people, as well as laying traps. If you are planning on playing the game above PUB level any time soon, get the spinfusor. If not, get the jackal.

Thanks alot. I guess I'll get the Jackal. I could care less about playing above PUB. I just want to play Tribes and have fun.

So the lazer sniper rifle didn't receive the falloff nerfs that the other sniper rifles did. That means that, in addition to linear damage scaling, as opposed to the exponential damage scaling the other rifles have, this one also does more than 100 more damage at max range. Does that mean that the lazer rifle is now better, or not?

Well, the lazer kills any chance you have of capping or chasing, while using your primary. So no, not really

I'm not going to cap, and I rarely, if ever, need to chase against anyone competent.

In that case the Lazer would probably be better. The main argument against the lazer is the hindrance of mobility through energy use, but since your not capping or chasing you should probably get the lazer.
Just make sure you get the Ultra Capasitor 1+2

Is there a way to replace the absolutely terrible scope on the laser rifle? Just wondering because I've basically given up this game completely to focus more on Dota 2 and D3, but if I could change this one thing I may come back to play some games.

What the fuck have they done to the saber launcher?
I was doing my usual jugg antics, going into gen room on katabatic, and suddenly I get a rocket in my face out of nowhere

It's called the Titan launcher, and basically it's a dumb-fire rocket.

I've heard of ways to replace scopes, but I can't give you a specific place to get said replacements.

Also, isn't there a thread on the hi-rez forums about replacing scopes?

Lets be honest here, the Sabre Launcher was pretty useless, even competent Shrike players could evade it.

Played my first games on US - East tonight, Holy shit. Forget CTF, Generators are the primary objective apparently! Maybe I just got an exceptionally bad group.

I know Shaz did but I only saw it on his Pathfinder so it is possible.

If you don't like pubs come join us on the reddit pugs. Theres some insanely high level players in there. The info is at reddit.com/r/tribes . Generally 40-60 players on a night, always start post 8:00 est. Mostly play 7's or 8's.

He's in the UK, and in the EU the PUG's start earlier than that. Usually around 6-7 GMT we will start getting enough players.

What's the average skill level like of people in the pugs? I'm an okay player, but not great in any sense of the word.
