What's the average skill level like of people in the pugs? I'm an okay player, but not great in any sense of the word. Not really that great, but thats coming from a competetive player. You'll probably be fine though.
Also at first glance this new patch seems pretty awesoem, but I haven't played it extensively yet.

If you're near the top of most pubs you play and have an understanding of how to play your role in a 7v7 / 8v8, then you'll be average-good. The skill level ranges from pretty new players to those from actual professional teams, but most everyone there is capable of stomping pubs.

I was doing my usual jugg antics, going into gen room on katabatic, and suddenly I get a rocket in my face out of nowhere It's called the Titan launcher, and basically it's a dumb-fire rocket. I wanted to start playing TA again, but all this crap is just silly. Also, isn't there a thread on the hi-rez forums about replacing scopes? Lets be honest here, the Sabre Launcher was pretty useless, even competent Shrike players could evade it. Yes, but indoors, as a jugg, there is not much room to evade a god damn rocket coming at you. Admittedly I haven't played a lot in the last month or so

In the options, disable the crosshair. Then overlay your own(while in Windowed or Borderless mode).
They put the option to disable the crosshair in there specifically for this reason, so people could use whatever they want.

Awesome. I'll probably join up with the Spinfusor PUG that's being run tonight then.

Bleh, too bad its EU. Playing on east coast servers from the west coast is bad enough, I don't even want to imagine west coast->europe. Maybe a reddit pug will run tonight.

Can anyone confirm if different autos have different hitboxes? I've seen several times on the boards that the Falcon has a particularly large one (it does look big onscreen), but when I tried to confirm this in Target Practice I didn't notice any significant differences between it and any other auto.
Basically, I walked close to one of the stationary bots and fired off to the side such that only 1 bullet or so per Falcon clip was hitting (due to the bit of variability in aim). Repeated for other weapons without moving the crosshair, and found pretty much the same to be true for all but the Chain and LMG (more variability in aim = more hits, in this case)

SERIOUSLY HIREZ? Nerfs LAR dps by 25% and thinks noone would notice. Pretty much everyone in #ascend has resolved to quit after this next round of tournaments due to this as well as the past mistakes/stubborness of hirez.

Yes. Seriously. Spinfusor for the win.

I've been hearing about a lot of people who plan to leave the comp scene after nasl.

I'm probably gonna take a break for a month or so, and if they game vastly improves, I'll probably come back. But for now, I just don't really have any faith in hirez to make the changes that matter for organized play.

Did they try to hide it and not put it in the patch notes or something? Regarding their stupid decision making, it is reaching the point where it almost seems as if they are trying to drive away the comp scene so they won't have to worry about them or their educated opinion on balance influencing the masses.

That doesn't really make sense as their marketing this as a high skill competitive game with esports stuff mixed in.

I haven't checked into Tribes Ascend in a long time and I just randomly decided to bring this thread up to see how its going. When I left, people wanted automatic weapons like assault rifles to be nerfed in damage. What changed in Tribes Ascend to make people dislike a nerf to assault rifle damage?

The LAR for the pathfinder was never really super strong, but essentially they were trying to fix chasing in this patch, and their solution was to nerf the fire rate on the weapon? It's to the point where chasers are using the shotgun instead of the lar. Making medium range chasing not even possible.
edit: They actually removed chasing in this patch when attempting to fix it.
|
It also wasn't even listed in the patch notes, hence the "hope noone notices" part. Also the nerf to chainguns already hit, but the LAR didn't need it because chasing is laughable in this game.
|
god, the bitching is non-stop. seriously, some people will never be satisfied...something isn't exactly how they think it ought to be, and suddenly it's the end of the world. i'll be glad when those people move on and bitch about some other game. as for the lar, i wouldn't be surprised if they tweaked it for the next patch.
|
Hahah yeah. At least this thread will improve when you sodd off with your incessant whine. The funniest shit is you comp players can't even decide what is most "broken" in the game. There was a guy in the tribal council claiming you could clear flagstands with a Falcon, they all clamored for sniper nerfs and when they do get nerfed it's too hard, it's too much, it's not enough, chasing isn't viable, chasing shouldn't be viable because of snipers, the game is 7v7 raider, WTF you nerfed our shieldpack?????? etc etc etc.
