Yeah the comp scene is a bunch of whiny girls who threaten to leave the game with every new patch.
I find it amusing that SC2 has also always had these kind of people ( there's always something to bitch about... ), but as there are 3 distinct races it was never the whole competitive scene that cried, just 2/3 max ( that's of course a generalization ). Maybe HiRez should introduce more tribes and give each tribe different classes to play. Yeah, that should fix it. ( Wow, I'm a genius. ) ( I also demand Bioderm skins or I quit. )
On the one hand, people were using macros to make it into a chaingun which was not intended.
On the other hand, I (and many others) wasn't, but were getting pretty good at aiming it while clickspamming.
Both of these were nerfed, and too much. IMO it's just a tweak to up the aggregated firing rate, and I can see both how the mistake was made and why. Still, it was a mistake, and it needs fixing.
Edit: I feel obliged to say that in general, the direction that HiRez has is the right one, though imo they should focus more on core issues and fixes and less on new weapons. Still, overall T:A is a much better game now than when I started playing back in february, and I'm pretty sure it will be a still better game in august or so.
BTW, what are the comp teams going to do after NASL? Go back to T2? BF3? CoD? Planetside 2?

I'm guessing you guys follow SC2 since you guys are on TL. Allow me to draw an analogy here.
What if, in the early days, instead of the reapers getting nerfed they were buffed to insanity?
What if roaches kept their perma-regen AND got their rate of fire buffed?
What if banelings had their damage reduced to 10?
These examples are a bit extreme, but not by much. If Blizzard was this retarded with SC2 balance, there would be no pro scene right now because they obviously don't care/ are too incompetent to balance properly to promote competitive play. This kind of stuff is occuring in Tribes: Ascend with HiRez.
If the gamemakers obviously don't care/suck too much to create a proper game to be played competitively, why should anyone bother to play it competitively?

No your pretty wrong, we've collectively said to hirez sniper vs capper is too strong for the sniper, chasing is not viable on most routes, drop jammer from the sent should not be powered by the gens, and to a lesser extent, infiltrators hard counter snipers too hard.
Also, the falcon part of your post was them theorycrafting what would happen if a different class had the falcon.

I've been hearing about a lot of people who plan to leave the comp scene after nasl.
Pretty much what everyone on the tribalwar IRC has said. We're just fed up with hirez refusing to listen and doing bullshit like this LAR change.
I'm probably gonna take a break for a month or so, and if they game vastly improves, I'll probably come back. But for now, I just don't really have any faith in hirez to make the changes that matter for organized play.
Wait, so decreasing the damage of an automatic weapon is worse?
I haven't checked into Tribes Ascend in a long time and I just randomly decided to bring this thread up to see how its going. When I left, people wanted automatic weapons like assault rifles to be nerfed in damage. What changed in Tribes Ascend to make people dislike a nerf to assault rifle damage?
The LAR for the pathfinder was never really super strong, but essentially they were trying to fix chasing in this patch, and their solution was to nerf the fire rate on the weapon? It's to the point where chasers are using the shotgun instead of the lar. Making medium range chasing not even possible.
edit: They actually removed chasing in this patch when attempting to fix it.
Wait, when you say they "removed chasing", do you mean that chasing a flag carrier is just so impractical that people just dont do it anymore? If thats the case, then thats pretty damn sad.

Yes. It never really worked in the first place because the cappers go crazy fast in this game, but with the latest LAR nerf its even worse. Defenses are completely reliant upon the sniper to kill the capper and its a problem thats been present since the beginning of the game.
Also the analogy about buffing overpowered things is pretty similar. Hirez's nerfs are about like bunker changes and their buffs are like buffing something silly like hisec auto tracking. And the person who said the falcon was overpowered has been agreed upon, by the NA scene at least, to be a complete and total retard.

I think(?) they also did another stealth change to the LAR to make it more accurate, or at least in my personal testing it seemed so, zoomed in shots seemed to have much less spread. At least a couple of the bullets actually go where you shoot now, instead of none while zoomed in before. Chasing still doesn't work against anyone who's competent though.

Its kind've scattered where they're going. Some are still going to play, some are going to try shootmania, some are going to play dayz (oh like I've been doing for the past 2 months LOL) and some are going other places. Basically we're jujust going everywhere. I'm sure tribes ascend will live on without us as will the comp scene, it'll just lack good players.

I would be shocked if it had any mandatory payment in the future.
Is it just me or does the shot inheritance feel way different from old T1 and T2? I didn't play a huge amount of Tribes Ascend, but from the amount I did the feeling of taking a shot while moving just felt way different. Watching that video, almost every shot I was sitting there thinking that they wouldn't hit whereas when I watch T2 frag videos I can tell that each shot is perfectly placed.

Its the same as T1 but different from T2.
T2 has 75% inheritance on discs, varying amounts on other weapons.
TA has 50% on everything except chainguns which are 20% (lolhirez)
T1 has 50% on discs and varying amounts on other weapons.
