Its just a waste of time, i have better things to do then waste time in this frustrating game. The controls are perfectly fine if you don't suck, the graphics are fine for a game of its age on dying consoles (the draw distance is ridiculous), the game has all the options needed (and who the hell rates a game on options anyway). The game also happens to be ridiculously deep and well made and extremely rewarding. It's only frustrating if you suck at it since the game is never cheap and only punishes mistakes you make yourself.

Then again, I would hope that people who buy the game for PC realizes that it was made for PC by FromSoftware simply because so many people asked for it, it was not their intention, so yes, it IS a bad port. It's quite amazing how well you can fix that with a controller and dsfix though, hell, the game is even better on PC than on console now that you can unlock framerate etc.

I signed that petition, but never would I have imagined FromSoftware to actually port the game glad Darksouls 2 is coming to the PC from the start.

Also, if you're playing on PC you basically need a controller. The PC controls are almost unplayable. o.O I'm really surprised you think the combat system is shallow. Imo dark souls has the best realtime combat system Ive ever seen, the amount of depth and subtleties to it is insane. Besides, it actually feels like youre fighting. Contrary to most games where its just 'I slap you with sword while you slap me with sword and I win bcos my sword is stronger'. It's true the pc controls arent very good. Imo playing with mouse and keyboard is not doable. I play keyboard only myself, something I dont think a lot of people know you can do. It doesnt have the same relaxed feel to it as with a controller but once you get used to it, it works perfectly fine. I share the same love for this game as tobberoth. I know the game can be terribly frustrating. I spent hours before I even made it to the first boar. I hated the game at the time, what stupid game would kill me over and over making me replay the same area over and over? But something kept me playing. Maybe it was the absolute mysteriousness that seems to envelop everything in dark souls. No, in fact I can say it was definitely that. Playing the game without knowing anything about it, I had the feeling that there was something huge behind this (for my perspective then) seemingly dull game. And man was I right. Exploring dark souls insanely crafted world is something I cant compare to any other game. The 'story' and lore lurking behind the pretty much nonexistant narrative are insanely intricate and so interesting. It is however conveyed through things as item descriptions and monster/item locations. Epicnamebro, a channel on youtube has a huge series where he figures out the story behind dark souls. We can almost never be 100% sure though, as nearly nothing is explicitly said in the game. Dark souls truly has its own way of doing things. And I think anyone who has played this game extensively will tell you the same. This really is a special game. And ofcourse not everyone can like it. There will always be people who simply dont like it, and that is fine. But please, do not write this game off because of the shitty start or the seemingly lousy controls or the bad graphics ( after you install the patch that fixes console resolution, it looks beautiful imo), because you might be robbing yourself of an amazing experience.

Yeah, Dark Souls is amazing. And you should play it with a controller. Like a lot of games nowadays. I don't see any problem with that, either. A controller costs ~20 bucks, there is no real reason not to have one, since it allows you to enjoy a lot of games a lot more. I've clocked ~150 hours in it so far, i think the only games i have put more in would be LoL, SC2, WoW and EU3 (at 450 hours according to steam). But for a fighter/rpg thingy, this game has amazing longevity. So many good games today, and i sadly have played through all of them already. If you don't have one of these, you should get it in my opinion: Dark Souls, Deus Ex, Arkham City, Witcher 2. All amazing games. Dark Souls, Witcher 2 and Arkham City are all better played with a controller. But if you are at least slightly into their genres, you shouldn't miss any of them.

The Witcher 1+2 Mark of the Ninja Dark Souls PTD As much as I want to buy more games I kinda can't justify it, will probably take me upwards of a year to play through them all and I still haven't started Mass Effect 3 yet D:
