Looking at the video & screenshots made it seem very interesting just to mess around in. I know it could be a real pain to learn everything it could do and actually creating a full story would be quite tough, but it did seem very interesting. I recall, my brother maybe 10 years ago working on the original RPG Maker and it was cool because he put together a 15 minute RPG or so that our EQ characters in it (Looking at my TL name probably gives away what class I was...) and I remember it being quite fun. Although that was probably right when RPG Maker was first released so I would assume it's a lot easier and more powerful now a day. Anybody here mess around with it at all? Is it pretty awesome? Anyone create anything worth while in it? Just wondering because I might end up picking it up if it goes on sale again. I don't know about XV but I've used several versions of RPG maker (last one I used was X i think). It's fairly fun if you just want to dick around making RPGs, but it's in a weird zone... it's for people who actually have motivation to create a games (because it takes quite a lot of time to do even small games), but at the same time it's for people who don't care too much about control since RPG Maker is obviously fairly limited compared to programming your own game. It's also weird in the sense that the odds of your game being played by more than 5 people is minimal. There are semi-popular indie RPGs made in it, but the vast majority is pure crap and there's really no reason of getting it if you want to make something people will actually download and play, it's mostly for your own creativity.

I haven't checked out the new one, but I used to play around with the old one a lot in the past. I think I might still have some games or other stuff I made with it on a backup CD somewhere at home. Even in the older versions you could go way beyond the boundaries of the standard system. I used to make my own fighting system in final fantasy style with 2d animations, made a side scroller shooter with it and made custom inventory menus. It's a lot of work, but you can create a lot of things with it apart from the standard 2d RPGs.

So far: Space Pirates And Zombies (wasn't on sale but 85% off) Euro Truck Simulator 2 (already played it for 18 hours... omg) Bastion Dark Souls: Prepare To Die Edition Was thinking about getting Wargame yesterday, but then decided not to get it since I'm not big into multiplayer lately. Let's see what's up in 8 hours, still have room left in my planned budget.

Honestly, Dark Souls is pretty much the best game released in the last 5 years or so, it's a huge mistake if you don't buy it. If anyone skips buying this because they are affraid of the challenge, don't worry, I have a great fix to that problem: Man the fuck up.

There is a very big warning sign about needing a controller for a reason and the terrible graphics is only true for console games as the patch actually makes the game much more visually appealing. Having said that the game definitely isn't for everyone.
