I never got a rune after playing for months and months until I played my first tourney, where I got a rune and won my first game. Tourneys are magical times for me-- I find I do much better and focus better since winning matters more. | ||

It can also be a pretty nice social way to play crawl, where you interact with your teammates a lot and learn from them; over on my team we have an irc channel where we all hang out and there is a ton of camaraderie. Tournaments are extremely fun to play, to the point where it's the only time I play crawl anymore. Highly recommended for anyone, don't worry about being a noob  | ||
