Any tips before I go into the branches of Hell? This is my first time going in... I've read the wiki on it- pack the appropriate resistances, bring restore abilities and curing/clarity, go down as fast as possible to avoid Hell effects. What else?

You pretty much got it. If you decided not to train your evo for CBoE, the bosses are going to be difficult for you to defeat. Try to find something to keep between the LoS of you and Dispater while you Fire Storm him, Summon Butterflies can work. I would ensure that you have some form of controlled teleport so you can ninja the runes if need be.

Honestly for Disapter you are better off not fighting at all if the only way you have to kill him is fire storm (same for cerebov). He's speed 10 without haste, easy to just kite him around something and then grab the rune from behind him (or you can cblink past).

You should do pan before hell because it is much easier.

My DDGl of TSO finally made it through both orc and lair and I'm seeing demons and undead more often. Playing with this on repeat. more seriously though I have a +6/+8 exec axe of frost, is it worth it to holy brandifiy it or should I just leave it as frost

On a MiFi, after dumping 15 into shield and 18 in M&F, would it be a waste to go polearms for blessed bardiche for endgame? I figure more firepower is probably my best defense against torment and such, but maybe at this point I should just take the holy scourge and start building up spellcasting.

Yes it would absolutely be a waste to swap to a bardiche when you have 18 m&f. If you want to use a bigger weapon you can use a great mace (same damage as a bardiche!!), since then you only need 2 more m&f levels instead of twenty-six polearms levels.....

Also there is probably a holy great mace lying around somewhere anyway since it is one of the most common great mace brands.

You would also be much better served getting haste than getting 26 polearms levels, especially since extended kind of assumes you have repeatable haste and is balanced accordingly.

Thanks... there was great mace of holy wrath right on the level I was on lol. I guess I'll enchant that up instead of scourge because shield probably wont help me much in endgame.

I snatched the last OpHu Nemelex Choice win since no one else seemed to want to try it. OpHu was actually super easy, very good streak combo. Doesn't matter which weapon you pick either. First time I tried was early in the tournament, took javs because I didn't want to be a hunter the whole game, went kiku, had a should-have-been-sure-win char (quickblade, nearing max kiku piety, ring of invis, ring of ctele, good spells) and then died when I miscast blink and got doublemoved by a dire elephant.

Second try I went Trog and crossbows ... I'm pretty sure crossbows are the best ranged weapon for killing everything, because penetration is that good. Also you oneshot everything on d:1, crossbows imba. Had a couple kind of tense moments in midgame when I wasn't yet killing everything in three shots but nothing too bad except for the time I was an idiot next to a hydra.

Op is good for this since you have super strong melee early on (constrict + tentacle aux) and hopefully you can ride that plus your starting ammo until your god of choice starts giving you what you want.

As an aside steel bolts are actually not very good any more, flame/frost deal more damage to stuff that's neutral to them so steel is mainly for stuff with both rC and rF. Not many enemies like that in a 3 rune game (and oofs are vulnerable to silver so you don't even care about them). Pretty much just aliches and tentmons. (The reason steel used to be really good is you could enchant it and then it would never break, while enchanting both flame and frost arrows was usually silly and a bad idea).

So if Misder wins his DEFE by the end of the tournament we might hold on to 5th place. Someone else getting more than 3 runes would be good too. I may play some more games but probably I am done if I break my current streak.

If you want to keep TL top 5 then either: get a lot of points for allruning (this is at least 12*30 + a ton of points for your high score) or if you want to win 3 rune games you can go for races/classes/gods that the team does not yet have a win for.

Sludge elves are good right now for your individual scores but I won a SEWz a bit ago so you're only improving the team score by about 10 points if you win one.

Tournament ends in a bit more than 3 days.

Gods you have to check our tournament page since you can change gods partway through a game. I grabbed a Zin win so other than Jiyva and Chei none of the gods we have unwon are worth a ton though.

Speaking of the Zin win it was a HOSu, I took Zin shortly before lair, worshipped him from then until I hit 6* piety in orc, and then ditched him for a real god (Jiyva). It ended up being a pretty fun game ... the starting book carried me through Lair just fine, I found Eos (+11 morningstar of elec) outside of lair and trained that up, then after converting to Jiyva I gradually picked up the following: LRD, statue form, shadow creatures, summon hydra, haste, summon elemental (for Zot). I got a demon whip from Mara and Devastator from a weapon trove and used those for much of the game.

Oh, and I used shield of the gong!!! It's quite an experience, I recommend you use the shield if you find it because it is lots of fun. It will get you in bad situations. But it's quite amusing fighting for instance the entire population of Elf:2 (including Roka band) within LOS of the stairs I took to enter, or drawing seemingly endless enemies to you at the stairs of Vault:$.

We can hopefully cross DEFE off the list, so that leaves SpAs, SpEn, HEEn, CeAM, DsMo, GhMo, MuVM, OgDK as some potential ideas for someone who wants to fulfill our clan requirements with a somewhat easier combo.

A berserker of one of those races would give us 2/3 (Trog already won), as would HOPr which is quite easy (HO already won).
