I would say that you can usually get away with it following Nemelex though, once you have enough Legendary decks lying around.

That said, if you're a squishy dude dealing in the bigger spells, it's better to cblink out of the stair section into the hallways and killdudes as they come to you in droves. Dancing is pretty dangerous if you can't take the heat.

Anyway, why would they generate a kobold with curare on D:3 T___T Oof, CDO is sorta slow because it's in Europe (and I'm in MA so CAO is even faster for me.) Whatever, I'll be fine ![]()

You can also try the new cszo server, apparently (http://crawl.develz.org/wordpress/howto and http://crawl.s-z.org/)

![]() ![]() On another note, does anyone have a basic build order for a Fire Storm DEFE or an Ice Storm DeCj in a 3-rune game? (Yay, I can finally actually SAY build order when I refer to Crawl characters, and not just think it!)

(Yay, I can finally actually SAY build order when I refer to Crawl characters, and not just think it!) Go Vehumet, train Fire Magic and Conjurations fairly equally, with Spellcasting as needed. Around Lair you should be decimating most things with Fireballs, and Vehumet will gift you Orb of Destruction late into Lair. Make sure you train Conjurations enough to make that consistent, and then put some points into stuff like Shields/Dodge/Traps, then go back to maxing Fire Magic/Conjurations. Eventually you just Fire Storm everything to death. Try to pick up Deflect Missiles and Haste on the way if you can, as well as Blink, Swiftness, Flight, possibly Poisonous Cloud, and Mephitic if you get it early enough. Start training up Fighting to 10 when you get to D:20 or so. That's about all you need for any amount of runes as a FE. Ice Mage pretty much the same thing, except replace Fire Magic with Ice Magic. Abuse Freezing Cloud instead of Fireball. Mephitic replaces Conjure Flame.

Kobold: small body, really easy to eat with to fight against spell hunger because carnivorous, good proficiencies, no glaring weaknesses except can't use plant-based permafood or Spriggan: tiny body, incredibly fast, great at everything but conjuration. Weakness: herbivorous, so spell hunger is an issue. get lots of int and spellcasting. If you want to play a Minotaur, I'd start off as a Fighter. Although Minotaurs don't benefit a huge amount from magic, they are survivable and Okawaru's traits are more suited to the lategame than Trog's. If you must be a Trog guy, I really truly recommend being a Kobold Beserker. It sounds weird, but because Kobolds are carnivores, they can eat meat whenever and the hunger drain from rage doesn't hurt them nearly as much. So yeah, KoCj/KoWu, MiFi, or KoBe is probably easiest to do.

Yes people, I tried to sabotage my first win by swapping from speed lajatang to speed falchion.

Beating my way through lair without breaking a sweat. It's kinda weird succeeding for once.

What a well-designed, polished game. E: typically, btw, my spells go "small mammal -> imp -> scorps" and by then I should have found some other books to supplement my magic and I sort of roll with it from there. Hound and Ice Beast are both fun in their own right but lack the real killing power that Scorps brings to the table.

I was playing a VpSu, and one of my imps re-animated an orc, and it's like "The dead are walking!" whenever a corpse is animated. After a few times this happened, he re-animated a frog and it said "The dead are hopping!" What a well-designed, polished game. Dunno, I find hound to be way more useful than scorps because it creates more summons, scales better with spell power, and doesn't screw you by being hostile. I rarely use scorpions personally.
