Does anyone have advice on how to play quickly? I grabbed a troll beserker and just suicidally mashed o and tab through the dungeon, and it still took about 27 minutes to go to floor 10. There has to be something I'm missing, since people are able to beat the game in an hour and a half. | ||

Pick SpEn. Dive to D:4 since you don't need anything from above D:4 (you can get to XL2 if you want for EH, this will slow you down but make the game easier). Find your god of choice (if said god is Lugonu you can continue skipping most of the level instead). Go to Lair, get xp. Go down to D:27 (if you want Lugonu go find a portal to the Abyss, but you probably don't want Lugonu for a 3-rune game). Go to V: 7. Get three runes in any order. Ninja the orb. Win. This won't get you record-breaking speed (you will need to be fast for a win in under two hours even skipping lots of enemies) but it will go much faster, both in turns and real-time, than clearing every level. By far the biggest difference between my 50k-turn 9-rune SpEn win and all of my other wins (the fastest of which is about 80k turns for 3 runes) is that I just didn't bother clearing levels on my SpEn. If you are looking for fast wins really the biggest thing to do is stop doing stuff that is unnecessary. You do not need the experience from clearing every dungeon floor, so don't bother clearing every floor. You don't need to go to Crypt or Elf at all, so don't. Etc. My wins are all over five hours since I don't personally see the point of playing for quick real-time wins in a turn-based game. | ||

Real time has no effect on your game score though, so it doesn't matter. (unless you want that tournament milestone). My battlemummy has cleared Lair and gotten a second experience card, as well as a second quick blade. I'm going to leave this one unbranded to whip out with Warp Weapon in case things get really dicey. I'm not entirely sure when I would absolutely need a quickblade of distortion but hey, now I've got the option :D | ||

I'm guessing that the people who beat the game in an hour and a half skip a great majority of the dungeon and avoid most of the monsters. Doesn't sound like that's what you were doing with your trollzerker  | ||

I was practicing for the tournament, but there's something rather fun about trying to blitz through the game as fast as you can, even if it's wrecking my overall win %  | ||

Don't play FeHe unless you are masochistic, it is very painful. I finished at XL19 because I died four times, and I had only 91 hp without divine vigour because felids are like that. My strategy was to pacifydudes, and the stuff I couldn't pacify I avoided with felid speed for the most part. Thankfully I found an amulet of faith so using greater pacification at 5* or below was basically zero piety cost as long as it worked in one or two tries. I got very lucky with books, getting cantrips very early so I had confusing touch for almost the entire game, which was a big deal (I used it over 1300 times). I also got spatial translocations, book of the warp, and wizardry, which meant I had all the spells I really cared about. Unfortunately felids apparently cannot learn portal projectile, which is a shame since I would have actually used it to toss the orb during the orbrun. Instead I dropped the orb, used controlled blink, and then apported it afterward. I got little enough xp that despite finishing 40k turns faster than the only other FeHe win I still did not score as many points. But Elyvilon is probably overpowered so I won anyway. | ||

Roll demonspawn mutations at the start of the game. All demonspawn mutations are now stored in the player data, and are determined at the same time. This makes a lot of things a lot simpler. On the other hand, it means that the influence of skills and gods on demonspawn mutations is now broken. Does this mean we can now start a game, check out mutations, and then choose whether to play it or not? | ||

Jiyva is really very strong with no xp investment (but lots of lost items obviously, and you end up losing some xp to jellies too). You get--especially on a troll or ogre--better stats, a usually-good mutation set, an instant-kill attack that only checks EV, and basically conservation and rmut both without having to use an amulet slot on either. You get a free rune from Slime too, though unless you have at least semicontrolled blink plus apportation you lose a huge number of good items when you go grab it. | ||

Was I really unlucky, or is this typical of how painful pan usually is? Edit: _a - the ring "Gess" {+Rage +Inv rElec rF++ rC+ MR Dam+4} Can I put this on without chei getting angry at me, as long as I don't activate the beserk? | ||
