That cinematic was better than any Bioware cinematic I've ever seen, and problaby blizzard too if I'm honest.

Lol I'm playing through it, reached chapter 3... now I noticed there was a huge opatch and steam hasn't automaticly updated to it and had to do it manually.
Meh I'm sad How different is this patch for the game ? I'm wondering if it would be worth it to abandon my first playthrough to redo it with this patch...
+ Show Spoiler +I will have to do another playthrough with Roche side anyway (are there other decisions that drasticly influence the storyline you go through ? and would mean more than 2 playthrough ?)

I agree for the direction, graphic quality hmm not sure.
Edit: Hmm they added a tutorial, my biggest complaint about the game was that it was not really explained how things work and I had to look on the internet. Seems fixed.

The Xbox version is around the corner.
BUT for PC owner, the enhanced experience of the game is available as a predownload at the game website:
http://en.thewitcher.com/community/entry/178
This is a FREE upgrade with 10GB of content ! Yes 100% free. It adds 4 hours to the game, CG cinematics, cutscenes (35min combined I believe).
CDProjekt = God.

I'm so happy I supported them by buying the game. Such a good company.

I got the PC version and I'm getting the 360 one as well. My laptop didn't run the game as smooth as I wanted so 360 will solve that problem . Great Devs!

Amazing company. I had the first Witcher but never got around to getting the second. Totally picking up TW2 now that the Enhanced Edition is basically out.
|
holy shit 10 gig patch/dlc free amazing

It blew my mind seriously.
And then you think of EA/Bioware and cry inside.

it isn't surprising though, they already stated at release that no DLCs or addons would ever cost money. Such a company is extremely rare these days and I'd never regret buying a copy to support such intentions.

I bought both their games and will future ones. We need more companies like this.

Just finished pre-downloading the enhanced edition. Only took me around 30 minutes. 17th can't come soon enough!
|
Since I recently finished ME and it made me sad, 17th can't come soon enough to bring back a good story driven game.
|
I really enjoyed the first game, but the way they changed the fighting method in the secound made me not finish it even I had it for a long time.. maybe I should try it again

That's because they're smart and they don't do cinematics themselves, instead relegating it to companies who specialize in that and are able to come up with stuff of such excellent quality. I believe that all of the Witcher 2 trailers were done by Platige Image (the founder of which was nominated for Oscar in "short animation" category back in the day).
Yup, quick search proved that it was in fact Platige responsible for this cinematic and Baginski (Oscar guy) was directing it: http://community.platige.com/news/619?lng=en
"It was one of the most demanding projects in Platige Image history. The script set up very high standards. As for such a short movie there were a lot of main, detailed characters, difficult face close-ups, very dynamic action full of special effects: cloth and particles simulation and hard slowmotion shots. The ship also became one of the main characters. First our graphic artists created a fantastic scenery and most of all great, very detailed sailing ship. Then the particles simulation team went rough with it. They created a vast interaction system covering the whole construction with milions of ice crystals and they smashed the whole thing.” – adds Maciek Jackiewicz (CG Supervisor). The team of 40 graphic designers and animators was involved in the project for couple moths.
Just to show you how much work does it actually take to produce short movie of such quality.

Its finally out ! Your game should update to the new enhanced edition ! Its time to do the game again
The new Witcher introduction movie telling what it means to be a witcher is pretty badass already :p
|
Also, if you guys have a CD key already, you can redeem an online backup on http://www.gog.com/en/witcher2/backup/ I have a steam copy and basically every update, I have to redownload the whole game no matter how small the update was. I see on steam forums that most people get this with witcher 2 on steam as well. This backup means I don't have to anymore :D
|
That's gog.com for you, they(CDPR) are awesome, witchers are awesome. Having pre-dl'd most of the files I only need to download very small patch before I can jump in once again.
The original Witcher is for 5 $ if someone for what ever reason doesn't have it yet.
Looks like they've updated the bonus content for Witcher 2, don't remember seeing that Triss playboy session there before..

Bioware does the same. They hired someone else to do the SWTOR trailers.
