I'm in WASP too, we're indeed a very active NC outfit. Feel free to check out our official recruitment thread too: http://forums.station.sony.com/ps2/index.php?threads/nc-wasp-inc-miller-eu.57/

It also seems like hidden options like ShadowQuality=0 also get reset if you enter the settings menu.

I am on low/medium graphics quality though, which may or may not effect this. It also seems like hidden options like ShadowQuality=0 also get reset if you enter the settings menu. Set the graphics quality to custom first (i think it's 4 in the Userconfig.ini, i just did it manually in game)

![]() I'm officer of a small but active TR outfit on Cobalt, the 3rd Airborne Terran Company - Templar Division (very long I know, it's 3TEM for short). We do squads / raids / missions daily, and we usually have a lot of fun with it We're pretty serious (as in, we expect people to follow orders from squad leaders etc), but we don't go too hard on people who mess up - if someone crashes a plane, we'll laugh with them for a few and leave it at that ^^ Anyone who wants in is welcome, add Zeptik.

Thanks for checking. That reminds me: I finally managed to mostly fix my FPS problems. For quite a while, every big battle my FPS dropped to around 15 and often stuttered when i was in close combat with opponents, making combat almost impossible. Now after playing around with the settings for a long time, it's still quite low but it's no longer stuttering and more stable, allowing me to aim for opponents without having to guess where he'll be next frame. [Rendering] This might be related to the FPS increase, too, though i didn't test if it actually had an effect, i made most changes simultaneously without testing each individual change. [Terrain] I also noticed a small FPS increase (1-2 FPS when staring at a wall in an empty base) from the centralized HUD, though that might be a coincidence. I still enabled it anyways. The biggest gains seemed to have been ShadowQuality=0 (which is off, you can only set it to low ingame) and UseLod0a=0 (which i have no clue what it does). The RenderDistance=1000.0000 had barely any effect on the FPS at all, it only seems to help when you are GPU bound, which i never was. I now occasionally go on killing sprees instead of dying every time an opponent sees me :p

). But in big battles, or when there is a lot to render (like when viewing a tech plant or amp station), it still goes to about 15-20 FPS, which is frustrating at best. But I can't really ask for much more from a laptop.

It's vertical FOV. tribes with 110 is horizontal FOV. 55 vertical FOV is something like 95 horizontal on a 16/9 or 85 on 16/10, i think. This should give you exact values: http://www.rjdown.co.uk/projects/bfbc2/fovcalculator.php

I guess I could learn to not hate it (because 85 fov makes my head spin) if there was a lot of fps to be gained. I would imagine it'd only matter with gpu limitations, and I'm stuck on CPU so I could just raise that?

Consoles mainly use ~60 horizontal FOV to increase performance, so it might have an effect on your FPS if you are GPU bound.
