I started out with the AMS upgrade for obvious reasons, got a bit of reduction to spawn wait, a bit of zoom on both guns... and then I didnt really know. I decided to get the +speed upgrade last night for 100 certs, but I'm not sure that was even worth it, lol. Any recommendations for which order to upgrade in + tips on must-have upgrades? If you are just taxi-ing infantry and not a part of an armor convoy, then you may want the armor upgrade (Blockade Armor?) to keep your party bus alive just that little bit longer to keep the pressure on. The Ammo upgrade for the Sundy is good if you roll with armor columns, as certing for ammo capacity is a pain.
Defense: Vehicle Stealth: Great if you drive around as a lone sunderer. Makes you slightly harder to find and increases your survivability when you don't have any support. Vehicle Ammo Dispenser: Great if you drive around with lots of tanks around you. Proximity Repair System: Don't like it really, you most likely have engineers nearby anyways. Blockade Armor: Nice if you want to survive in the heat of battle but most of the time, the best defense is to not get shot at in the first place, so it's very situational. It works great together with the Gate Shield Diffuser utility.
Utility: AMS: Standard option. Gate Shield Diffuser: Great tool to break into facilities. Load up a sunderer, drive through the shields and suprise the attackers. Works great on tech plants.
Performance: Racer High Speed Chassis: Only real option.

Too bad I never know where to go or have any genuine air superiority to do. Also doesn't help that the default Reaver cannon seems to kill stuff in a few eons. My first purchases were the lock-on AAM, Dumbfire rockets and the vulcan cannon. Without that, the ESF are basically useless. 1 Missile hit and 3-4 salvos from my Vulcan and any Mosquito or Scythe blows up. For Liberators the dumbfire rockets seem to be more effective though since you can actually hit Liberators with them and a full salvo of rockets takes them down to half health after which they are Vulcan fodder. My biggest problem in the air these days is the fact that i always seem to be outnumbered 3-to-1 and all opponents have lock-on missiles, so i go in, kill one and then have to make a run for it and hope to reach a safe place before the 2 guys on my tail catch me. AAM are alright, if you are new to flying I def recommend it, but I would combo it with the plasma ball primary one. Use 2 lock ons and they will lose the last sliver of their health instantly to burn. The primary weapon for anti ground units like tanks. There is an upgraded version of the primary, it has only 30 shots a magazine but it unloads very quickly... I would only recommend this if you go for hell fire / photon pods. As for getting lost... if you right click the map before you take off, you can set a personal beacon. If your in a squad, the leader usually places the marker where the members should be going.

a2a missiles take 0 skill
if you looking for free kills, you will find them
hopefully soe fixes them eventually

Why is that?
I have had it for quite a while, but the speed difference is really negligible (like less than 10km faster maxed out going down hill). Have been considering going for the combat chassis, improved traction on hills and better turning sounds quite appealing.

Well, the combat chassis is too situational. Most of the time you will follow roads or valleys so the hill climbing doesn't really come into play. When you actually encounter a hill, it's maybe 5% of the total distance that you cross 20% faster while the racer chassis makes you about 10% faster for the other 95% of the way.

I try to drive my Sunderer like it's a quad bike. I've had to abandon many due to getting stuck in ditches.

Rival chasis is fine, the turning speed is pretty useful for flanking tanks to try to avoid their line of fire during 1v1s. It's debatable which is better for actually driving around tanks (turning speed or top speed) but either's fine. The extra traction is helpful when you're fighting tanks on even small inclines, as the little edge you can get on the climb can be the difference.

Actually it's even worse than that, with my last reaver I got damaged but managed to land safely. I went out of it, took my third weapon and started repairing. Lmao, I can totally imagine doing this XD. Yeah given that the cooldown to re-trial the same item is one month, I think 30 minutes isn't nearly long enough. An hour would be fine.

Hey, thanks for the invite. This game is definitely better with a squad and some direction. If anyone else has been lurking the thread like me, check it out.
Has anyone solved the 32bit windows crashing issue? Running as admin seems to help, gonna try increasing my virtual memory and see if that works.

I'm always in a group but I can't get that 50 cert/hr rate that everyone else gets. D:

I been playin VS on Waterson here and there for a few days and my only complaint is those Mosquito guys seem untouchable... Well that was my only complaint, I don't have any more complaints.
I was just running over this hill after deciding to try to flank a decently sized battalion of TR that was engaging my battalion and lo and behold a 1/20 hp mosquito lands about a half mile in front of me, the driver gets out and starts to repair it. :D In my head I'm like SWEET REVENGE and proceed to nade down the mosquito and then kill the driver with some body shots then a headshot from my carbine.

I biggest problem with the game is that I have no clue what to buy. I may have accidentally played way, way too much today and earned like 200 certs and have no idea whats actually worth spending it on
|
It's long enough after release that there are many people with ample experiences and opinions on purchases now. I'm sure you if you asked for advice on a certain role (AA ESF, AT MBT, Assassin LA, AA MAX, etc.) people on TL could give some pointers. I do think SOE could do a better job making upgrade information more transparent and... useful. They fail to provide us hard, relevant numbers for many, many purchases.

I may have accidentally played way, way too much today and earned like 200 certs and have no idea whats actually worth spending it on It depends what you like to play. Do you have a prefered vehicle?
If you like Sundy, get AMS, ammo station, shield breaker. If you like your main battle tank, get side armor (front if you play vanu), the unique ability (mag burner/shield/siege mode), and the anti air secondary gun. If you like your empire fighter get A2A lock on missiles or dumb-fire rockets (depending on wether you want to be A2A or A2G), dog fighting chasis, flares. If you like piloting the liberator get the DALTON! And get the night vision optics for it to make it super easy for your gunner to see those tiny little targets they are obliterating (like the fist of an angry god!).
If you like to just shoot people with guns in good old infantry combat, get the high contrast night vision scope for all the weapons you use (only costs like 30 certs). Also get the universal healing injector to heal yourself up, it is usable by all your classes!
Get C4 and cert into jet pack for light assault Get AA missile, anti vehicle grenade, and cert into your shield for heavy assault Get anti tank mines and proximity mines and cert into repair tool for engineer (note: if you mostly just like vehicles you should always be engineer with certed repair tool to keep your ride alive) Get revive/healing grenades and cert into healing tool and your activated healing ability for combat medic. Get a bolt action sniper and as well as a shot gun for infiltrator. Not sure what to cert into as infiltrator as I haven't looked to closely at what you can do but your best utility as an infiltrator is the ability to hack enemy terminals and capture points faster. If you can cert to improve either of those in a useful way, they are probably good investments. Otherwise cloak will help you with both those goals and can't be bad to cert into
If you like to take charge and use your amazing strategic insights you have gained from years of starcraft to lead your squad, go to the certs tab at the bottom of the menu and then click the leadership category and unlock squad spawn point, squad objective, etc.

I miss the lattice system. In planetside 1 often the two/three huge zergs would collide in an epic battle between bases. Some of these battles raged for days. PS2 is completly lacking that. Only place huge zerg on zergs fights seem to happen is The Crown on Indar and that base is not worth attacking unless you have 4:1 numbers advantage(its that defencible). I've yet to see a long tank war in a feild.
Also, what the hell is with the TR and air? It seems like the Tr pull 300% more air vechiles then the other two.
