Just wondering, is the unit for speed in that in m/s? Actually, you weren't the one who made that, were you? Never mind then I guess lol
|
I think the cert gain is at a very fair/good rate. When I first started I wasn't able to get many, but now I can get kills easy and certs come fast enough for me.
|
I was thinking about getting this game, is it good?
|
nothing to lose, its f2p. note however that its coming with some pretty heavy hardware requirements, or rather, they are still actively optimizing the game and therefor it appears many people struggle with fps. apart from that its great : )
|
Soulstice, definitely try it out for a while, I've had more fun playing this game than probably any other FPS.
Jaeger server just went down. Any other servers down right now?
|
It's totally worth a try since it is f2p.

Might be this: http://forums.station.sony.com/ps2/index.php?threads/server-restarts.56718/
East Coast Servers rolling restarts will start at 3AM PST and each server should be down for approximately 15 minutes.

Free to play and apart from some exceptions (that are still unlockable with certs), everything you can purchase is just a sidegrade, so you'll never have to spend money on it. What is there to lose in trying it out?
Best game of the last 5 years and probably the next 5 years, too.

whats the best weapon for light assault VS, like is it worth spending 250+ certs on one or should i just focus on ability upgrades right now
also, red laser vs foregrip? I used to love laser on my NC but i was fighting much closer when i was with NC, now i feel like i'm in midrange most of the time as VS but since their guns have almost no recoil i wonder if its still worth it to get the foregrip or should i just go with red laser for the times im forced into a close quarter fight

As light assault i love shotguns. Jumping over walls and 1/2-shotting people in their back from point blank range is a ton of fun. Then again, i'm always going for very close combat because i couldn't hit a mountain from midrange
Someone posted https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/pub?key=0ApH3DlM1yfRAdDJ5N2VoR3IxbEtTTnRRTE1taFVJdlE&gid=0 at the top of the page can help with your decision (and also confirms my feeling of NC weapons being bad).
As for foregrip or laser dot, for VS laser dot sounds a lot better though it depends on the playstyle.

I run LC2 Lynx, but I have an odd close-midrange style with LA, where I actually play a like like an infil and sweep mountains. The Lynx has a higher fire rate and less recoil than the base TR weapon, so it helps steady aim when jetpacking. I also run foregrip instead of laser, as I find the recoil reduction (I have BF3 scoping habits) more important than the standard laser dot. I believe the advanced laser dot gives passive recoil reduction when firing from the hip, but I rarely fire from the hip and when I do it's usually close enough that it doesn't matter.
Edit: Sorry, to clarify. Scope = foregrip Laser = hip If you have a laserdot it's pointless in scope, and the foregrip only affects recoil during scoped fire. It's pretty straightforward like that

NC PLAYERS
I need weapon advice
are any of the 700sc rifles really killer or stand above the rest? I have the stilleto which is really sick but might want to upgrade. also, if any of the heavy-specific weapons are good i'd want to give them a try too. i trialed the jackhammer and it might be one of the worst guns in the game.
|
Honestly, about weapons for SC. There are daily deals and bundle deals ( which appear to be updated weekly ). I have the Torrent ( they changed the name to something else though ) for the Medic from the Alpha Squad thingie ( among other things ofc ) and the GD-22 something for the HA from a daily deal a few days ago. I'm just waiting for bundle deals/daily deals containing something good ( daily deal wpns can also be bought for a reduced cert pt price! ).

I absolutely suck in ground combat but I seem to have a thing for flying. Too bad I never know where to go or have any genuine air superiority to do. Also doesn't help that the default Reaver cannon seems to kill stuff in a few eons.

My first purchases were the lock-on AAM, Dumbfire rockets and the vulcan cannon. Without that, the ESF are basically useless. 1 Missile hit and 3-4 salvos from my Vulcan and any Mosquito or Scythe blows up. For Liberators the dumbfire rockets seem to be more effective though since you can actually hit Liberators with them and a full salvo of rockets takes them down to half health after which they are Vulcan fodder.
My biggest problem in the air these days is the fact that i always seem to be outnumbered 3-to-1 and all opponents have lock-on missiles, so i go in, kill one and then have to make a run for it and hope to reach a safe place before the 2 guys on my tail catch me.

Well, i like challenges :p
Just got shot down after taking out 2 mosquitos and nearly taking down a third from a swarm of 6 mosquitos and a few liberators. Well, ok, the first i "shot down" actually flew into a building after taking a missile and 2 full rounds of my vulcan cannon but i still count it as kill
Well, then again, the air mission before that i only got one missile off, then i tried to make a circle at the bottom of a biodome to get rid of a lock and flew straight into the ammo tower. Ace Pilot Morfildur :p
Flying is so much fun, i just wish the controls were a little better. I did all that stuff with key rebinding and such but it still feels clumsy.

I'm in NC too .
I'd like to share one of the most shamefull experience I ever had in a video game. I wanted to try the dumbfire rockets on the reaver with the trial system. So I did so, but when I bought my reaver I forgot to equip it, and had to wait 10 or 15 min to buy another one (is it possible to change loadout on a vehicule after buying it?). I already felt stupid, so I flew around, got killed and came back to buy a new one. I somehow managed to hit something while taking off and my reaver got stuck under a panel, impossible to take it out. In a deperation attempt I bought a couple of reduction timer certs and managed to grab a last one before my trial running out. Flew to battle, got ramed by a friendly before shooting a single rocket on my target. I closed Planestide and tried to forget it ever happened..

Does anyone have any recommendations for Sunderer upgrade orders? I'm my outfit's dedicated taxi driver and I want to upgrade my sundie before moving on to Galaxy upgrades. I started out with the AMS upgrade for obvious reasons, got a bit of reduction to spawn wait, a bit of zoom on both guns... and then I didnt really know. I decided to get the +speed upgrade last night for 100 certs, but I'm not sure that was even worth it, lol. Any recommendations for which order to upgrade in + tips on must-have upgrades?

If you are just taxi-ing infantry and not a part of an armor convoy, then you may want the armor upgrade (Blockade Armor?) to keep your party bus alive just that little bit longer to keep the pressure on.
The Ammo upgrade for the Sundy is good if you roll with armor columns, as certing for ammo capacity is a pain.
