Here are my specs if anyone could help me.
Intel Core 2 Extreme Q9300 2.53GHz 8GB RAM Windows 7 Ultimate x64 2 GTX 280Ms in SLI
Do you think it'll run ok on low settings? I would be content with that.
I would imagine so, otherwise I'm screwed as well.
But I have no problem getting most recent games to run on a similar system, with modest settings of course.
Also, TES games are usually highly tweakable. When Oblivion came out I also had a shit computer, but there was a guide to tweak the .ini file to reduce some of the biggest performance issues (grass density etc). So hopefully we'll get the same with Skyrim.

Only just thought of looking for a thread on here about Skyrim (duh.. /facepalm)...
So excited for this! Pre-ordered through Amazon, hope it does actually turn up on the 11th like they say it will. Anyone seen what this premium/cloth map looks like? Some people are saying its not actually cloth yet it's described as having a "burlap feel", so I am a little confused.

@PolSC2 Thanks!

I have two NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250 so based on that list I should be able to run it on high. Good to know. My PC is only a year old. I feel bad that there's so many graphics cards that beat my current ones already lol.

I have a 560 TI on my desktop, so no worries there, but the surprise for me was that my laptop, which I only bought for school breaks and work and shit, can also run it on low with my 540M lol, according to google at least.

You bought a laptop only for "school breaks and work and shit" , and it carries a 540M, my guess is you know how much you spent on it, and you arent surprised one bit.
Brag much?

It's a dated medium level card. I don't get that statement.

Still makes it worse for people like me who are buying the console version because their main desktop (let alone laptop!) can't run it

I dont think anybody here has to be scared that the game will not run.
See it this way the graphics for Skyrim will be an improved version of Oblivion. It wont be on a whole new level just some better details and better textures for faces etc. So any half decent PC which can run Oblivion on highest settings can probably run Skyrim easy on at least medium.

Look on the bright side, you won't have to fiddle with Steam or have potential stability issues. :D
I had a PC built this year and am still thinking about opting for console (although I need to get one first lol). I never cared about mods anyways.

Um console version will be inferior in every way possible and not just cause of the graphics.
The ability to have key binds will help game play immensely , no more countless pausings to swap weapons to spells and vice versa , you just do that by pressing 1-8.
The mods will help and give so much more depth.
Till today anyone is able to play oblivion even morrowind with mods gl do that with concoles.
Also yes been able to see 1920x 1080 max settings x16aa etc on a 24"+ monitor gives a better feeelings as well

Not in every way... (see above)

New graphics card installed... i'm ready.. throw the game at me now! ^^
I guess it's time to finish Witcher 2 and try not reading forums and spoiling Skyrim stuff.

Not in every way... (see above) If you're referring to steam problems (two above), there's a quick free way to not have that problem.

I'll be doin it on my Dell Ultrasharp U2410. And grabbing some brown ale or mead to accompany me on my adventures.

In what ways will console suck more than PC?
