Anyways I hope they go back to a morrowindish style rather than oblivion. Also if they make the nords stereotype vikings I'm going to go kill some kittens. And yeah, sounds like I'll be replacing my HD 4830 next year....... Pretty sure Maiq was talking about Oblivion in the quote I think you're referring to. I was referring to the quote that dragons aren't dead, they're only invisible.

"The ruling dynasty throughout the third era was entirely of the descendants of Tiber Septim. His line, frequently called the Dragonborn, ended at the conclusion of the third era with the death of Martin Septim, the last living heir of the last emperor, Uriel Septim VII." They give so much even in a short trailer!

I couldn't take the lack of voice acting, small font, no fast traveling, impossible combat, and general instability preventing me from alt-tabbing to read guides. On the other hand, Oblivion with FCOM was the best single player video game experience I ever had. What am I missing out on? Since nobody did the (kinda) obvious analogy here, let me try it: It's quite a lot like the discussion about SC2 being worse than SC1 or not, stirred by a lot of people here. Morrowind is like SC1, it's more raw and lacks certain comfort options, but it's a badass of a game, though I admit, the experience is GREATLY enhanced with mods. Whenever I played morrowind, I had like a 100 little and big mods running, making the game at least double the fun. Oblivion is a bit like SC2, it's a bit more friendly to newer players and players with less time, it has more comfort options and all the fancy voice-acting, but it just doesn't feel the same. I have to admit though, I played Oblivion before all those awesome mods came out, and I'm quite certain that I would find it way more interesting now, if I would install it again and add some mods on it. Why do I still think Morrowind > Oblivion if I didn't test them both with mods? Cause I also played Morrowind without mods when it came out, and in a modless state, to me, it's far superior to Oblivion. (That said, I love SC2 way more than SC1, but also probably only because I came very late to playing SC1. A bit OT here ^^)

To be honest, I'd be more happy if they just cut the entire all-voiceacted-dialogue crap. Sure, some random banter lines and greetings is good to help the atmosphere (as long as they make it better than the oblivion random banter, obviously), but when you're in interaction with the characters, having them spout three lines of badly voiceacted script is far less immersing and informative than a screenfull of text you have to read. And not only is the problem bad voiceacting - the fact that they're voiceacting everything also means they have to cut the ammount of text presented, which is understandable as it is to somewhat help the voice actors cut off some of their insane work load. Seriously though, voiceacted dialogue brings nothing to the game, and I'd hope they'd remove it. Of course, these kinds of "improvements" to games are never removed, so I guess we're stuck with easilly recognizable voices across a multitude of characters and races, and short texts instead of extensive scripts.

Giant gates, destroying cities and landscape. I just see Skyrim as another wonder in the crazy TES world.

Of course, there were a LOT of problems with it but I thought that was to be expected given their highly ambitious completely open world gameplay

Yeah this is so sad. Our only hope is that the game will be like 40gb and have voice acting and long dialogues. Morrowind improved my English a lot because of the amount of text in it. I remember one afternoon I just went to a bookstore ingame and read some books for like 3 hours or so. I was very disappointed when I saw that they recycled so many books in Oblivion :/

That said, by looking at Tamriel map, Skyrim is smaller than Cyrondill. I was hoping there was more world to explore with this new game ![]() Have someone else gone to the limits of the map in Oblivion, or was just me? I remember I used to keep going and going until there was no more place to go. Some places I could not go with the horse so I unmounted I kept going, until I realise I've forgot where I did leave the horse lol

My poor sorceress was level 13 before she'd completed the initiation quests for the mage guild, so much running back and forth. And if you're keen on doing quests, you'll most probably be running to most edges of Cyrodiil - western Gold Coast for the Grey Prince, far northeast for the Daedra lord quests (Nocturne?), east for the Dark Brotherhood and deep south for the mage guild. I never really explored the eastern part southeast of Cheydinhal though. Very empty area, aside from the goblin wars quest.
