I understand how frustrating the bugs are and I can't disagree with any of your points. I've enjoyed the game immensely and I'm working my way down the main quest line now after finishing all the major side chain quests. After I finish the main quest I think I'll just go back to mass ladder games or Supreme Ruler: Cold War or Battlefield 3 or whatever else until DLC and patches come.
In 6 months though I can see a lot of amazing mods coming out. Skyrim, while being such a similar game to Oblivion/Fallout:NV just.. gives me the feeling that it's more open to amazing mods. Or maybe that's just wishful thinking. Anyway I've played 100 hours of Skyrim so far and what with that being less than a dollar per hour of enjoyment- hey I got my monies worth. I've had fun and I don't care about rating it past that.
If I were to recommend it to someone the bugs, the imba combat all of that would come second to asking the person what kind of games they enjoy.

Possibly get the Esbern fix, other than that most of the time if a quest breaks or something you can fix it with console commands, the current literature on the subject available on the internet is pretty good, the hardest part is singling out broken quests from your quest tracker, but it's not that big of a hassle overall.
Only quest I've ever seen that permabroke for me was one of the College distortion quests, went to the marker but there was no distortion to close, so I had to single it out and advance the quest stage through console commands.
Anyone frustrated with leveling of spells and weapons/armour?
I have plenty of magicka but I am not able to buy any of the higher level spells (i am stuck on conjure flame atronahc for a long time), presumably because of my low level.
Similarly, I am not able buy/craft higher level armor and weapons, although I have plenty of cash and even some raw materials needed.
I feel like I am just stuck with mediocre stuffs and spells for too long.
I'm trying to get into Winterhold. I walked up to the gate and was given a simple "go grab this item to enchant" quest. I go to Solitude and get the item. I come back to Winterhold and no one is at the front gate. I wait... and wait... and wait... the guy who gave me the quest is inside Winterhold and I can't get past the locked gate. What is going on? Is there anyway to get inside Winterhold at this point, or is this just bugged out?
......
OK, after some more trying I have literally waited outside the gate at Winterhold 24 times, one hour at a time, and no one is showing up outside the gate. I have heard of people having to cast a spell to get in, but there is no one even to talk to.
......
Edit: OK, the quest is obviously bugged. I decided to just walk around Winterhold town and out of nowhere a conversation begins with the chick who is supposed to be at the gate, but she is nowhere around me. I am talking to a ghost basically.
She tells me to cast a firebolt, I do it and nothing happens. I decide to make my way to the bridge to Winterhold College and there she finally is. I cast the bolt there and I can finally get in.
This is an amazing game, but the Bethesda glitches are definitely still present. And the number of CTDs is surprisingly high
How are people faring with skyrim in Nvidia vs ATI cards? I'm just suprised by the following:
-I play the game in a Stone Age PC. -I only have 2GB ram -I only have an 8600 Nvidia graphics card, really old. Unsupported even. -The game has only CTD once, I never have ANY glitches, game is amazing, hell, it works faster than starcraft. -?????
Could it be that the game is so geared to work with Nvidia it compensates for everytthing else? I just don't understand how it works so nice. Setting is mid-high btw.

Omg I love the design of the game! It's so... cosy. Everything is so beautiful.
Btw, I played 2-h heavy armor + resto. But how the f*** do I kill giants and dragons at melee range lol. Giants: one hit you no mather what if they hit you (on master level), and if you dodge it you don't have enough time to hit with 2-h and run, so you just have to run and shoot with arrow. Dragons: They never land? And I know there is a shout that bring them down, but it's on the main quest pretty far in it, don't want to rush it the first time. You have to shoot them 325 times with bow instead, if they don't aggro some random creeps/guards.
So now I play 2-h, heavy armor, resto, archery lol. Not enough perks to max anything, but hey, there is a lot of variation

Playing on a quad core 2.6ghz amd with 4 gigs of ram and a shitty ati 4600 HD 1gig video card and I gotta floor all down to low and do some ini tweaks and it still lags like fuck when you go near big candle formations, instant CTDs happen every now and then (mostly when I try loot something)

My laptop is dual core 2.1GHz, 4GB RAM and ATI HD4570 graphics so it's pretty crappy. The game runs fine on low settings with slight lag when going inside dungeons. I bought it anyway though cause I'm building a PC. In the end it's your choice if you prefer extra gameplay due to mods or graphics. Though if you think it will lag slightly on low like mine I don't think it's worth it, takes quite a bit out of enjoyment

Don't pick any locks in the honningbrew meadery, you will break the thieves' guild questline and it's not fully fixable atm.

Why would xbox ever look better? Unless I am missing something...

When is this quest? Is it a part of the main quest line? I'm up to Elder Knowledge, am I almost there?
Ya main quest line. Its 2 stages ahead of you I think. Finish Elder Knowledge then another one, then you get that one.
fuckkkkkkkkkk
How do I get higher healing? I have Heal (Novice) and Healing Hands (apprentice). Is there a better direct heal after this or how do I get these spells to Master?
Once I got fast heal I pretty much stopped checking the college for new spellbooks but generally that's where I go once my related magic skill gets higher. I just check everyone to make sure they don't have new spellbooks.
