The soldiers continue to treat you as a civilian and you don't gain any real perks, I mean you`re a pretty damn high rank by the end of it. When in Oblivion and Morrowind it was better done and gaining rank actually had soldiers giving you some respect. It's not something that's necessary, but it really adds to immersion and makes these quest lines much cooler, otherwise why give ranks at all? The only thing I gained from this is free horses from the forts you've taken over, since I end up losing my horses constantly. | ||

You can do every daedric quest and if you choose incorrectly on a few of them, you won't get the artifact reward, which is what happened to me; I'm going to have to redo about ~8-10 hours' worth of gameplay and I have zero motivation to do it just for the achievement. I have a friend with 50/50; he hit it somewhere over 120 hours played I think. It just depends on how thorough you are and how much time you spend exploring without gunning through quests. | ||

Maybe those two are also magical and you need to give her magical gear?! | ||

Same thing happening for me, I gave Lydia a fine ebony bow, she uses it when I take her other ebony weapons, but not when she has melee weapons and needs to play ranged, she switches to her standard hunting bow then t.t | ||

Hopefully some mod will come sooner then later to help us with this. I want to be able to see the henchman current stats and be able to make him use the equipment I want him to wear/use. I also want to be able to give him commands without needing to talk to him. If I got a melee hench and I am a mage, I want to be able to send him 1st into new rooms to tank, not have him follow me through tight corridors and then block my retreat once 2-3 guys decide to attack me  | ||

Hopefully there's be a mod where you can force equip items for henchman soon, and maybe even set default ai (fight close/ranged etc). Would love it. Oh also, if Lydia stops following you, next time you see her take a piece of armour and return it and she'll re-equip all her best gear again. | ||
