You can get lost in caves from time to time, especially if you don't use pointer/map.
Don't use fast travel then, duh. Personally i have better things to do then spend so much time running.
Finishing moves are awesome.

While I don't agree with all that he said, it is true that every single dungeon I have been in is linear and I dislike that a lot.
The UI we can't get around is one of the worst UI's in years for PC, just because we can use it does not mean it is good.

I love this game, but it does have huge flaws unfortunately..

Sure it has flaws, bugs to start with.

I don't have any problem with ui, didn't even spend much time adjusting. And getting lost in caves was one of those things i hate about some other games. You can still get into some problems here, so i am fine with it. And some places are just to huge to allow players to get lost.


Getting lost in caves/explore caves is a matter of taste. I personally like to have choices in the dungeons, and not just a linear path, but that is my opinion.

About the UI, it is bad.... sorely lacks a lot. Just the inventory lacks:
* Sorting (by value, weight, when you got it, type, etc.)
* A Log that show what the last item you got was, so that we don't have to go through a huge list.
* Compare item (value, weight, look.)
* A way to open you AND your companion/chest/traders inventory!

The perk UI is also pretty bad for PC, many times did I have to choose a different perk and use w,a,s,d to navigate to the one I actually wanted to look at.

It is ok that you can play the game with this UI, I can too. But it still sucks arse and a developer as big as Bethesda and a game as big as Skyrim can't be allowed to throw this in our faces again...

As I said I love the game, played it a lot and still plays it, but that don't mean that I am a blind fanboy who can't see flaws

I still 2-shot standard dragons but elder dragons are a bit tougher and my friend had ancient dragons spawn which are supposedly a challenge.

I don't really understand why I'm still mostly fighting standard dragons even though I'm lvl 40 and finished the main story.

Anyone complaining about dungeons being too small obviously hasn't been to Blackreach, that place makes the Mehrunes Razor dungeon from oblivion look small.
I play Protoss, because lets face it, who doesn't love hyper-advanced Egyptian ninja-aliens that kill people with lightsabres attached to both arms?

Did you actually wait for a while as it takes ages for him to open it as he has about a dozen locks on it.

You could always try to bypass the issue with console commands or try loading a previous save etc.

1. download this-> http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3117
2. then use it to open the Skyrim - VoicesExtra file in your skyrim/data folder.
3. extract all to Skyrim/data folder (should automaticly create new folder data/sounds)
4. problem fixed, Esbern has sound and opens door

I have hit another "bug" it seems...on quest season unending, meeting with Tulius and Ulfric in High Hrotgar...i am stuck while negotiating terms of peace, and nothing is happening, no options to move, talk to any or anything...
I think its Esbern bugging again...
Any help ?

Hmm, I used elemental fury on my ebony sword all the time. Now it seems I don't have to because the sword somehow got +10 elemental fury enchantment on it. I didn't know this could happen.

I've been playing games for a long time too and Skyrim isn't even close to the worst. It doesn't make the game unplayable, just a bit more cumbersome. And none of the UI issues affect actual combat as far as I've experienced. Just annoyances outside of combat. I remember Neverwinter Nights 2 having a shit UI especially on release. And having just replayed KOTOR 1 I can say that game was at least as cumbersome to deal with.

So Skyrim's UI is annoying, but not gamebreaking. It's still pretty shit and deserves criticism, but some of the statements made about it are really exaggerated.

ok now i have a bug too... everytime my lockpick breaks i have to reselect the box i want to pick... that means the lock resets every time my pcik breaks! this sucks so hard right now -.-
Inputting special characters into chat should no longer cause the game to crash.

Oh, but it does. The combat isn't exactly smooth if you want to start out with one shout, bow, change to a spell to increase your armor rating, change to two handed axe and another shout as the enemy approaches. Before finishing him off you might want to change to 2 one handed weapons with a soul capture spell (like I do). There are so many shouts and spells for so many situation you can't have them all favorited, and even if you do you need to stop combat a good 4 times, and thats excluding the potions should it come to that

And I agree with the people saying the perk interface -looks- good. I actually love the star perk system. And if that was the only thing, I wouldn't be bothered (altough the fact that its imposible to navigate it, as you somehow never manage to go to the next star without circling around it 3 or 4 times first is inexcusable). But the inventory and magic system is trash.

Eagerly awaiting a mod with a better Ui.

Man, I played 6 hours straight today. Had a blast!

I became Archmage, have kickass Archmage Robes and a great mask which apparently, makes my head invisible. Such an annoying glitch, I'd like to know if there's any mod that fixes it.

Mage questline was really fun, I heard similar (even better) comments regarding the thief one. My next character will be just that!

Also, I can conjure bound swords. When I use them, I gain one handed sword skill. Is it worth to use it, or keep sticking to destruction? I noticed there's a seperate skill for that, I guess it's when you don't have much mana you can melee? It sounds interesting with healing spell on the free hand.

How can I discover more alchemy recipes? I'm trying to mix stuff but not really successful at that.

How do I enchant items? Can you only enchant regular items with no special mods on them?

When you try to discover more alchemy recipes you can eat one of each ingredient to discover the first effect that each thing has. That helped me out a lot when trying to mix potions together with random ingredients.

There are perks in the enchantment tree that improves your enchanting and eventually also lets you enchant magic items.

The combat isn't exactly smooth if you want to start out with one shout, bow, change to a spell to increase your armor rating, change to two handed axe and another shout as the enemy approaches. Before finishing him off you might want to change to 2 one handed weapons with a soul capture spell (like I do). There are so many shouts and spells for so many situation you can't have them all favorited, and even if you do you need to stop combat a good 4 times, and thats excluding the potions should it come to that

And I agree with the people saying the perk interface -looks- good. I actually love the star perk system. And if that was the only thing, I wouldn't be bothered (altough the fact that its imposible to navigate it, as you somehow never manage to go to the next star without circling around it 3 or 4 times first is inexcusable). But the inventory and magic system is trash.

Eagerly awaiting a mod with a better Ui.

I really don't get the whining about the UI to such an extent. Yes, it's awkward to understand at first. However, just because the game is technically a console port doesn't mean you should actively view everything in a negative light. The only gripe I have with about the UI is the fact that multiple copies of the same weapon are bugged when on favorites, and the perk system being difficult to navigate at first (but even then, I've learned how to navigate it without any troubles at all). I believe most people are simply coming in with confirmation bias about how "terrible" the UI is simply because that's what people said at first on day one, and because they were told it was originally designed for consoles.

Also, I actually hate the image-based system of Morrowind. I prefer the text much better when not using a system like Mabinogi's (tile-based placement, I guess?). I can see how it's not for everybody, but don't jump to saying the UI is absolutely terrible when plenty of people actually prefer it.
