My question kinda got skipped over
Does it matter what forge you use when you make smithing stuff? Like will there be any difference if I use the forge in riverwood as opposed to the skyforge in whiterun as opposed to the normal forge in whiterun? They made a big deal about the skyforge so seems like it would, but I haven't noticed anything.

if you dont wanna cheese the system, the best way is to do sneak attacks on enemies.

My laptop specs are running it on high and on 1920x1080 and I've only ever had 1 crash to desktop since I started playing (Friday of release).
I still get the input delay when I'm on the UI though, its pissing me off, but apparently it's better than my friend who has more buggy quests.
If anyone gets their hands on a skill-reset mod PLEASE, let me know!

The game is fun, but this has got to be the most utterly useless, retarded, ugly, non user-friendly, buggy, and illogical UI of all time. What a pathetic excuse of an UI for such a big release in 2011. Takes away so much from the game for me, sadly.

I'm actually not bothered by the UI at all, after playing around with it for a bit. Just using the Keyboard, WASD to navigate it, E to select things.. feels quicker than I'd be able to do it by mouse actually.

and yes, before you ask, there's nothing wrong with my computer and my drivers are up to date. ive checked the skyrim forums, and a LOT of ppl are complaining about dropping frames and huge issues. they've recommended turning off vsync and lowering shadows and shit, but all the tinkering around ive done, doesnt really work (unless i put everything on low, which i refuse to do since i should easily be able to run this on ultra). Check your Temps. Its always the number one culprit of problems on an otherwise good computer. Since its a laptop that wouldnt surprise me Im playing on a laptop on medium graphics. the thing with mobile cards you need to remember is they suck at antia aliasing and smoothing edges. The cards can run all the textures they want and the CPU can render everything well alongside the GPU but for some reason smoothing edges kills them. I have a 330m 2 year old laptop with an i5 at 2.24 Ghz. I run medium really well with high textures and objects drawn i changed to be 2 points ahead of the medium settings and I get 70 fps in everything BUT caves with a waterfall and lots of candles in one room whenever music plays. Its the only time my CPU can't keep up (damn that high quality music). If i don't use my laptop fan it shuts down my pc in 5 minutes due to heat and I get really bad stuttering. Also, I just soloed my first blood dragon on top of a mountain that was some epic stuff. my laptop has an incredible cooling system (asus g74, look it up), so its perfectly cold i assure you.
Its great that it has a nice cooling system but clogged heatsinks, dust in fans, or for some reason thinned thermal paste can all make your laptop hotter. The first things you do for performance checks are:
Drivers Hardware Heat
I don't know what else to tell you. It takes 2 seconds to download the free HWMonitor program and check your temperatures while playing skyrim.
If that doesnt help then perhaps its a bug but unless the complaints are from many others with a G74 then the problem is you. And from what I've seen and read and heard is some people are having individual issues for who knows what reason and for the most part people are having good performance.
Hell if an integrated intel HD card can run the game on low then there is a reason your laptop can't play it on ultra since it is pretty powerful.
Perhaps theres a threading bug which is making the CPU bottleneck? IDK. But if it runs poorly on ultra, high, medium and ok on low theres something wrong with the hardware.
Try changing the res perhaps?

I'm kinda trying to keep posting best of mods in here since I'm pretty close to some of the guys doing this kind of stuff but I think this info is drowning in this thread. Are people interested in some kind of mod-guide where I show links to stuff I recommend?Right now I'm running improved Shadows (which actually improved performance too, trollol Bethesda), a memory fix removing most of the 4-5s lags in new areas, the FX tuning linked above and enhanced night sky. Oh, and a nude mod. Shame on me. =D On November 15 2011 04:12 Steveling wrote:Godamit my main quest is bugged. + Show Spoiler +After you infiltrate the Thellan Embassy, you are sent to find an old man, he is somewhere in the Thieves guilds sewers, I find him behind his barricated door, which he is supposed to open after we talk but nothing happens. It's on the main storyline also so I can not advance, T_T. http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=172Use this fix, worked fine for me. =) YES!!! I loved reading through recommended mod lists for Oblivion, maybe a bit too early to mod IMO but please do make a list!!! (and be sure to update it!) k, I'll get on this sometime tonight. Gimme 12 hours from now. =P It's so insane, but there's awesome stuff already out which fixes most of the stuff Bethesda failsauced a little bit. If anyone is running mods where he feels like OMG THIS IS SOMETHING YOU MUST HAVE, please feel free to PM me with links to their original source. I think I've got most covered, but you never know. Apparently there are e.g. some russian and chinese fixes to the freeze issues most people have, but I have no way of getting to them. Am I the only one who thinks those SSs dont look any better than vanilla skyrim? Might even be worse.

The lunar forge will auto enchant your weapons at night and the closer to a full moon and middle of the night i believe (according to the book there) the enchantments are stronger.
+ Show Spoiler +They basically drain hp and give it to you :D

I wish devs would stop designing UI for console players. Even Daggerfall UI was better than this one. And people still say it's the best TES yet. I wonder how low are their standards. Fortunately there is a wonderful french community for the TES that will heal my wounded heart.

Yeah I remember reading that when I cleared the place. So the skyforge is basicly not any better than any other forge even though its a big deal to the companions?

Yeah the only nice thing about that place was + Show Spoiler +the special dagger you get for completing one of the companion quests

The UI isn't REALLY gameplay, story or graphics related. The UI is terrible, but the rest of the game MORE than makes up for it, especially taking into account that you'll be able to mod it soon enough.
The reason people are saying it's the best yet is because if you ignore the UI, it IS the best yet for most people. I played back through Morrowind and Oblivion (just main questlines) leading up to Skyrim's release, and Skyrim blows them out of the water IMO. Morrowind was better for its time than Skyrim is I think, but side by side I think Skyrim is a better game.

So...I got random crashes to Desktop since Yesterday.I did the thingy with the Soundquality but didnt help. Sometimes I can play for 2 Hours without a crash, sometimes it crashes after 2 mins of gameplay. Crashes appear when launched through Steam and through TESV.exe. If you went to the skyrim forums at all, you would see a ton of ppl (mostly with newer rigs) experience lag issues. My drivers and hardware are fine. Sigh, its frustrating trying to get help when people give you these generic "is it plugged in?" responses........
And fyi, as i stated earilier, with a few mods (modified d3dnl files) and tweaks, i was able to increase my frames by an acceptable amount.
So yea, it is NOT my temperatures, it is NOT a g74 specific issue, and it is NOT only me experiencing these issues. Three strikes.

To all the people talking about pirating, torrenting the game etc (seeing it a lot in this thread) - you are all douchebags.. and if everyone was as cheap and moronic as you people, the gaming industry would cease to exist and we wouldn't have games like this. Same goes with movies. Suck it up and pay the $50.. if you can't pay for the game you don't deserve to play it. That's my rant.. just hate reading about people pirating/torrenting it's such bullshit.

+ Show Spoiler +But only at night right? At least the weapons I found around there only did that. Which by the way can be disenchanted allowing you to enchant your own stuff with that effect. Are ones done on the full moon different?
As for the skyforge, I noticed no difference. I was hoping Steel weapons made there would be automatically turned into skyforge steel items, but no luck.

Omg this is a funny story I don't know if you guys have already discussed this or not.
So I'm trying to get married to this Ysolda (or w/e her name is) girl but first she needs me to get her some mammoth tusks. I accept of course but I was like, "fuck this is gonna be hard." I fast travel to where I know there are mammoths and just as I was about to attack it and the giant guarding it, a fucking dragon comes out of nowhere and starts battling the mammoth and giant. It was such a sick battle I just stood there and watched it. Finally, the dragon decides its had enough so it picks up the mammoth, flies really high, and drops the beast to its death. All I had to do was search the body for tusks. Profit.
Then, I arrange our wedding and was told to "not be late." Ok, easy mode, I will just wait at the temple. Nope, it turns out there was some sort of bug and I had no choice but to miss my wedding. Even more peculiar, Lydia, that chick who first follows you, turned up dead inside the temple. She had died long ago somewhere around Markath, so how her body traveled across Skyrim is beyond me. I'm not even sure if she was suppose to attend or disrupt my wedding.
Anyway, Ysolda got really butt hurt that I miss our wedding but I made it up to her and tried a second time. This time it worked and we lived happily ever after.

However, i do strongly agree that if you can afford the game and choose to pirate it instead, you're truly a scumbag. If bullshit like mw3 deserves your money, then why not an infinitely better game like this?

I was climbing the mountain to reach the Greybeards but a Frost troll keeps owning me. I'm only level 4 tho, is there a way to avoid him or should I go back down and do more quests and stuff?
