Just avoid him or find another way to get up that mountain. If you choose to avoid him, you could get an horse if you think you're too slow.

Try backpedaling and using flames on it. If that fails, try to sneak around it(I've never tried this though). The ice wolves and trolls on the 7000 steps are such a pain.

dunno if this has been posted, but the quest 'Under Sarthaal' from the College of Winterhold (it's the first one where u go into a ruin) has a part where u have to destroy a wall. I was getting crashes no matter what i tried to do to it, but setting the gfx quality to medium fixed it somehow. Just in case some1 was having problems

Sorry, I don't mindlessly throw out $60 for games that may or may not suck.
Here's a list of games I pirated initially, and bought because I felt they were good in the past year:
Witcher 2, Fallout: New Vegas, Skyrim, STALKER SoC/CoP, Metro 2033, Deus Ex Human Revolution, Total War: Shogun 2, Battlefield 3 (cracked servers).
Let's not turn this into a piracy debate, but honestly, you're even more ignorant than the people who go around pirating everything for shits and gigs. People are on budgets, people don't want to waste their money and want to try out their products before they purchase it. And if I think the game sucks dick? Whatever, I delete it. If I didn't have the option to torrent it to try it out, I would not have bought it anyways. If anything, me torrenting games to try them out gives companies a profit than if I did not.
You can hate piracy all you want. However, saying that everyone who does it is "cheap and moronic" and that "they don't deserve to play the games" is just, frankly, overly aggressive and rather ignorant.
If you feel it necessary to continue this discussion, PM me as to not shit up the thread.

I was climbing the mountain to reach the Greybeards but a Frost troll keeps owning me. I'm only level 4 tho, is there a way to avoid him or should I go back down and do more quests and stuff?
Level 4? Seriously? I'm level 10 and I still haven't done that, take the time to do other quests and clear out some dungeons, if you really want to do it try finding somewhere it can't reach and spam fire spells/arrows. If you are having trouble finding some quests to do just go to Falkreath and do the quests to do with Sinding/Werewolves or do the Companion quests in Jorrvaskr in Whiterun.

i'm lvl 14 and have jackshit (i killed whiterun guards for awhile, grinding mammoths and giants using a lake - they can't attack when i'm in water). some are level 8 with load of companions...how do you do it? i only have one, the thane's servant and i've only encountered one dragon...can't learn shouts.

Personally, I just ran past him. Trolls aren't that fast if you don't look back (and thus lower your run speed). It should give up chasing you before you reach the mountain temple.
EDIT:
Since everyone ninja'd me, I'll give some more advice.
For that quest, only the Frost troll will give you trouble. I would recommend that you level up after the greybeards' quest, however.

The troll is ridiculously weak to fire. Just packbedal and blast him with your flame spell. No problem.
EDIT: I was level 7 when I left Rivenwood my first time. I don't know how these people are getting to like High Hrothgar at level 5 and shit...
Anyways, am Level 22 and starting anew. Nothing left to do on my Thief character now that I finished up DB/Thieves Guild of worth. Time to flip a coin between hardcore Spellsword or stealing that Paladin character idea.

Is it worth playing for someone who never played any Elder Scrolls and doesn't like role-playing games that much?

If you don't like role-playing games that much (and subsequently lots of exploring and finding fun for yourself) this is not the game for you, no.,

Your rant is wrong. Game development wouldn't cease to exist if game developers weren't earning this much. In fact, money and the fact many publishers manage to sell trash that isn't worth paying for is the reason 80% of the games that are released today are retarded. Quality of games was actually better when there was less of an industry and when there was less money in it (especially PC games), and if pirating was actually a big enough deterrent and an efficient way to chase all the dead weight profiteering publishers out of the industry, I would go out of my way to pirate shit on purpose even if I don't need to.
Bethesda's games are one of the (very few) exceptions that deserve the money they're charging, but it's an exception. I'm pretty sure almost everyone would pay for Skyrim if they were in a situation that they could afford it, or will pay for it eventually.

Anyway uhh, to the guy who flamed pirates. Hi, I do not like to buy games for $90 no matter what. I and none of my friends actually play any TES games, except one guy who loved them from the start. I pirated the game to see what all the hype was about and will probably end up buying it from an overseas store. I will recommend this game to my many casual gaming friends who will all probably end up buying it for $90 from the steam store or a local retailer. Be thankful that people like me are going to get them to spend money on shit that's actually worth it, instead of buying the same rehashed games like MW3 and/or stupid sports games that come out every year (note: if you play these games sorry, just making a point here). So don't tell me to fuck off just because I can't afford the game right now. In fact, fuck you for telling me to fuck off, I'm allowed to do whatever the fuck I want.

The game industry is the most profitable entertainment industry nowadays.

Use Spark yo, and any lightning spell for that matter. It drains mana. Most of my fights with mages are me Fus Ro Dah'ing them and then sparking them for 15 seconds until they are just melee'ing me.

Nothing to do that entertains me on this character. I kind of built him pants on head retarded, and it's really starting to catch up to me. Most of the shit I have to do now is straight up combat, and I feel it's time to make a character now that I know more of the ins and outs of the game and do a lot more combat oriented shit and stuff.

I wish I pirated Oblivion so that I could have known never to play Elder Scrolls games on PC without wasting $20.
